mgrfin, you have a degree in theology, right? It seems to me your idea of following one’s conscience is distorted.
If your conscience is in error do you have the divine right to follow it?
If I know my conscience is in error I can’t follow it.

However, let’s stay positive. I have an obligation - not a right - to follow the dictates of my conscience.

Why is that a surprise. Jimmy Cricket knew that, so should you.

You are really impressed with my theology credentials. I am humbled by your admiration.

peace

So, if my conscience is telling me I need to murder my friend, I should follow it?

No, that sets the Catholic people in a tizzy.

Ah yes, Jimmy Cricket, the infallible judge of truth…
Apparently, a cricket knows more than you.

Since when is knowledge equivalent to infallibility.

The Catholic people have been taught, at least in my church, about the inviolatibility of conscience.

What is your guide to right and wrong? Emotions, feelings, sentiment, hormones, your parents, your kid brother, the New York Times, President Bush, the Republican party, prejudice, Msgr. Lefebreve?

peace

lets go back to the basics. ccc 153 When Peter confessed that Jesus if the Christ, the son of the living God, Jesus declared to him that this revelation did not come from flesh and blood, but from my father in heaven. Faith is a gift of GOD A SUPERNATURAL VIRTUE INFUSED BY HIM. Before this faith can be exercised man must have the grace of GOD to MOVE and ASSIST him. he must have the INTERIOR helps of the HOLY SPIRIT who moves the heart and converts it to GOD. WHO opens the MIND and makes it EASY for ALL to accept and BELIEVE THE TRUTH. that is why Jesus left the Church to Peter, We can argue all year until that grace comes to a person they will never understand. Thats all i can say
Believe it or not, there are people who do not accept Peter.
I know that comes as a surprise.
If such were protestant-brethren, I’d be comfortable quoting Sacred Scripture to them, and offering them proofs from Tradition.

But when the people are your own, you are suddenly aghast that fellow Catholics can be so un-believing. Sadly, that is the case.

All we can do for them is to pray, and to act charitably towards them. We have to be patient like a parent to an errant child.

peace

Do you catharina --talk to your family that way. A pot should not be looking around – finding ways to call another black.
No I don’t level sarcasm cloaked in loving words at my family.Do you do that with yours? He can go hug a tree if he must joke sarcastically about hugging.

Oh, “Chill out, Joseph” - for a moment there I thought you were talking to me. Fortunately my name is not Joseph. And, I never supported Senator McCarthy.

peace
These obvious sect-cult people imagine they know everything; then as a group they attack. How much prudence, justice, fortitude and temporance guide such lives?

Why the sarcasm? You talk to your family that way? It’s getting really disgusting.

EXCUSE ME? ~ Does someone need a hug? ~ That’s serious and not disingenuous? Go find a mirror. Gaze and reflect.

As I said prior —Pots should not be going around looking to call another black.

Your McCarthy-like tendencies are appalling. You see Feeneyites, Sedevacantists, and “Lefebrvrites” (whatever that is) all around you, when only a couple people have implied, let alone stated that they hold to such views. I’ve seen you do this countless times, even to me. Chill out, Joseph.
This so hits the nail on the head. Check out post 965.

You were NOT involved in this exchange so I guess you fit your own description of a pot wandering around looking to call a kettle whatever. (Some analogy: walking pots?) Thankfully, as usual, your opinions mean nothing to me.

You jumped in and accused DustinsDad of sarcasm in his response to mgrfin. Then you go further and tell him to go find a mirror. But I guess as far as Pots go --that is ok.

Forum Administrators seem to be out to close all threads that are off-topic.

This thread seems to be going that direction. You can always tell - people start attacking one another.

Maybe this thread should be closed too, since it is going nowhere.

Just 32 posts left to go before 1,000 - the magic number.

peace

I can’t argue with you on that one. Degrees received via Internet are very impressive. Especially Theology Internet Degrees.
No one I know is impressed with a Theo degree from on-line.

Are there any degrees available on-line from Rome?

You refuse to answer? Are you a priest or religious?

You know mgrfin — what is becoming quite clear – when you paint yourself into a corner from which you can’t get out—you start calling on the moderator to close the thread down.

Or perhaps he led it off-topic intentionally just to get it shut down. Pretty sad. I hope people don’t choose between sede-ism and RC-ism based on how their representatives act on these threads.

Painted into a corner? I’m in no corner. If I were, people would be going for the jugular. Instead, like you, they are making weak, irrelevant, inconsequential, insignificant arguments.

You know nothing about me! I have never backed down from a theological fight. But, this thread is not about the discussion posited. You, however, fight by personal attack, as is apparent from this post of yours, and others of yours in the past.

Do you have anything to add about 'salvation outside the church"?, which is the topic.

You are in my prayers, and my charitable wishes for your welfare.

What I know – is from what you post. And yes—you do tend to call for the thread to be closed down — when you are in a corner (maybe the moderator will catch on to that). Trying get out of corners by calling arguments weak, inconsiquential, etc. etc. — really does not do much for you.
