Scripture does not prohibit either groups to marry.
Yup you are absolutely correct (although I will defer to Catholics on priests).šŸ‘

There is nothing absolutely nothing in Scripture preventing a homosexual from marrying someone of the opposite sex.

Jeremiah 17:9

The heart is deceitful above all things,
and desperately sick;
who can understand it?

We all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. Who is going to rescue us from this body of death? I will not throw the first stone, but point everybody to Christ as the solution to all things.
Absolutely. Christ is the solution to all things.

Including sin.

However, He will not be the solution to the sin problem if we are disagreeing with Jesus and calling it ā€œOKā€ when Jesus disagrees.

Jesus does speak about marriage and specifically limits it to a man and a woman.

Matthew 19 4 Who answering, said to them: Have ye not read, that he who made man from the beginning, Made them male and female? And he said: 5 For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife, and they two shall be in one flesh. 6 Therefore now they are not two, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let no man put asunder.

Question for Catholics…wouldn’t a gay man or woman marrying someone of the opposite sex nulify a ā€œsacramental marriageā€ since the gay man or woman…well…is gay?

There is no such thing as a sacramental marriage between same sex couples. There is nothing to be nullified. Being gay has nothing to do with it.

Friend, that’s not what I asked…read the question again.

Sorry! :o
The simplest answer is it would only be grounds for annulment if the spouse didn’t know about it before the marriage. It would be up to the marriage tribunal to determine.

When it comes to who is actually united to Christ and truly an adopted child of God, I’m glad God alone makes that determination and not us…or a particular church or denomination. Sound doctrine and orthodoxy does not make you saved or reconciled to God. We know the demons believe God is one and shutter. The thief on the cross did not know much orthodoxy. I find it funny how some Christians try to make same sex marriage an essential to be Christian when the topic of same sex marriage is silient in the Scriptures.
You are correct it is God does determine all.

Scripture isn’t silent, and where it is tends to be because of agreement with the status quo.

You can argue all you want that the bible only condemns pederasty, but that’s probably because that was the only accepted form of homosexuality at the time. Having the sort of homosexual relationship that is common now in pagan Greece was a great way to die a bloody death.

Well, I think the United States of America would disagree with you. In addition, there are Christian Churches around the world who marry Christian homosexuals.
If I don’t accept their sacraments of Baptism, Holy Orders, or the Eucharist valid (where these Mysteries exist), why would I accept their marriage as such?

I saw the documentary DVD called Deliver us from Evil. I only post this to put Christian same sex marriage in perspective of the gospel. We are all wretched sinners deserving of the eternal wrath of God. It is by grace alone through the merit of Christ which brings us to God as adopted children.
That we are all sinners undeserving of grace does not give us a license to sin.

Those that accept same sex relationships do not believe that loving commited same sex relationships is sin…no one is asking for a license to sin.

You might want to reread what I was responding to. His argument was that we are all sinners anyway who don’t measure up so sinning in another regard doesn’t matter.

And I know that those who accept same sex relationships don’t think it’s a sin. Alcoholics usually don’t think drunkenness is a sin, and kleptomaniacs don’t usually look at theft as a sin, except when it happens to them. Just because I cover my ears, close my eyes, and shout nonsense doesn’t mean sin no longer exists.

There is one silly, little question that I asked before that I have not gotten an answer to.

Given all of the logic that I have heard in this thread and the other thread concerning same sex sexual relationships.

Is it ok with God for me to have sex with my dog? Maybe if my dog and I can get married possibly? Why or why not?

This is a serious question. Given the logic that I have read in this thread and other threads I have no choice to conclude that sex between me and my dog is OK with God. But maybe we would have to get married first.

One of the points of a good relationship centers around mutual respect and mutual consent between two parties that can enter into such an agreement. While you may want you dog to enter into such a relationship…they are unable to so so.

Coercion, rape and violence against another living entity is not what is being discussed…I’m sure you can understand the difference between two adults entering into a mutual loving realtionship and you raping your dog…can’t you?šŸ™‚

Reminds me of tree huggers in the '70’s.šŸ˜›

I think you can change your signature now:blush:

Clearly you’ve never had your leg humped by a dog before.šŸ˜‰
