While this isn’t surprising coming from that city, I am disturbed that it said this as an official statement from a governmental organization. As private citizens, it’s one thing, but as a governmental body even if the resolution was not binding? Very disturbing.

That’s the problem, in a nutshell. A lot of people aren’t afraid of God at all. If they even bother to acknowledge He exists.

I’d say a lot of folks need to get very, very afraid…PDQ!

I heard a priest on the radio this morning give the most fascinating homily I have ever heard on the topic of hell. He observed that many Catholics just don’t believe in it, but he pointed out that, if there was no hell, it would make the cross itself without any meaning or purpose. Why would such a terrible sacrifice have been needed if hell did not exist?

I hope they file a lawsuit or something. The government has no right voicing its opinions about a religious group. This could possibly be considered discrimination.
