It seems to me that such an argument could be used to justify eliding anything form slavery to genocide from the realm of political debate and action, so long as it is state approved.

I understand the statement that it is a religious matter, and not political, according to the OP. I disagree completely of course as its in error.

Something else to consider is the Bernie Sanders popularity over Hillary is probably motivated by the consideration of Democrats that have to choose someone that appears honest and open (even if a Socialist which most do not understand offering pie in the sky), they choose Bernie. The sad reality shock is that they do not get to decide, its up to the super delegates which are in Clinton’s pocket!

I agree with you, LS. I don’t think Hillary counted on winning any state yesterday. She said so! She might have hoped for a little closer margin, especially in Hawaii, but that’s about it. It was Sanders’ day, and Hillary didn’t begrudge him it.

California, New York, and Pennsylvania are going to be interesting.

If it seems like the majority of voters want Sanders, those super delegates will desert Clinton just as they did with Clinton-Obama.

In 2008, the super delegates who were in Hillary’s pocket were taken out of it one by one as Obama began to win more of the popular vote and its accompanying delegates. At the end of that race, Obama had most of the popular votes and most of the delegates and the super delegates followed. Obama won the Democratic nomination and the rest is history!

Expect the exact same thing to happen this year if Sanders wins more of the popular vote than Hillary. Now I personally don’t think that “if” is going to occur in2016, but it is important for people to understand that, ultimately, the voters decide who the nominee will be.

Hawaii always seems to be a wild ride! Don’t they usually vote Republican in the general election?

Yes, it was Alaska I was thinking about. I’m always surprised when Alaska is Red - those folks, like Hawaii folks, just seem like they would lean Blue.

She is actually beating Bernie in the same way that Obama beat her in 2008. Hillary didn’t get out of the race until the end during that election and I expect Sanders will follow her lead this time around. We will see him on the Convention floor, where he will turn his support over to Hillary and ask his supporters to do the same.

His message of raising taxes on everyone? He wants 15 TRILLION in New taxes, reducing everyone’s take home pay… and that hurts the working poor the most. $15 an hour minimum wage is a stupid idea. What happened to working hard and EARNING pay raises?

While not always required, I personally prefer a Judge who has formally studied the law. That said, I’m sure SP’s show will attract and audience and be easy to watch!

$15 an hour is barely a living wage, especially if one has a family. No one said anything about workers then earning their pay raises. I think all workers should earn pay raises. Teachers, for example, get them automatically instead of earning merit raises. I’m a great believer is merit raises, but I do think every worker should earn a living wage.

Higher taxes are not necessarily a bad thing, depending on what services are provided on in return. Granted, many will have differing views on that and at the end of the day it is a personal matter of opinion. However it doesn’t necessarily hurt the working poor.

On an aggregate basis, there’s often little correlation between how hard someone works and the pay they receive. A $15 hourly minimum wage isn’t necessarily a bad thing either, although granted it also is entirely a matter of personal opinion. Consider this, any company which is paying less than $15 an hour to their employees, is being subsidized by the government.
