Good point estesbob. When I read J_Peterson’s post, I was thinking that he was just speaking hypothetically, and didn’t give it much more thought.
its nonsense Abortion rates have dropped because of the hard work of millions of people involved in the pro-life ministry. We have established CPCs, lobbied our elected officials to pass laws limiting abortion and refrained from voting for those who have vowed to keep abortion legal. Because of this we have the Partial Birth abortion law passed, parental consent laws, waiting periods and requiring abortion clinics to meet minimum health standards. We have seen numerous abortion clinics close in the last year alone becuase of these effort Because of our efforts we have been able to bring the abortion rate down nearly 20% since Roe was imposed. We did all this in spite of the unified opposition of mostly democrat Party office holders. .

But again it is best to turn to the Magestrium when claims like this are made:

*And here’s the irony. None of the Catholic arguments advanced in favor of Senator Obama are new. They’ve been around, in one form or another, for more than 25 years. All of them seek to ‘‘get beyond’’ abortion, or economically reduce the number of abortions, or create a better society where abortion won’t be necessary. All of them involve a misuse of the seamless garment imagery in Catholic social teaching. And all of them, in practice, seek to contextualize, demote and then counterbalance the evil of abortion with other important but less foundational social issues. This is a great sadness. As Chicago’s Cardinal Francis George said recently, too many Americans have ‘‘no recognition of the fact that children continue to be killed [by abortion], and we live therefore, in a country drenched in blood. This can’t be something you start playing off pragmatically against other issues.’’

Meanwhile, the basic human rights violation at the heart of abortion - the intentional destruction of an innocent, developing human life - is wordsmithed away as a terrible crime that just can’t be fixed by the law. I don’t believe that. I think that argument is a fraud. And I don’t think any serious believer can accept that argument without damaging his or her credibility. We still have more than a million abortions a year, and we can’t blame them all on Republican social policies. After all, it was a Democratic president, not a Republican, who vetoed the partial birth abortion ban - twice.*

Archbishop Charles Chaput

Why should the Republicans have all the fun? 😉

The Democrat candidates should be allowed a dull dust-up or two. “Dull,” of course, because both Clinton and Sanders are honorable, decent people.
:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

No serious person could ever claim that Hillary Clinton is either decent or honorable.

I wish we also had them as well.
So you support repression of those with “deviant” political views? So what is this self-righteousness querulousness towards “political correctness”? Is it frustration that the media doesn’t share your values, but if you had more influence you would suppress those that do not share your values.

I do not support the repression of those with socialist views. I admire Joe McCarthy though because he wanted to expose socialism in America. He wanted to investigate their plots and agenda. I believe that there are a lot of socialist sympathizers in the media. Their agenda should be exposed.

If Sanders ever became president I think he’d be similar to Allende in Chile. He’d occasionally talk like a moderate while his supporters would regularly use violence against anyone who opposed the government.

I could not be a loyal American in that case. It would feel morally wrong.

Here’s what President Eisenhower said in a private letter about Senator McCarthy:

“It is a sad commentary on our government when such a manifestly useless and spurious thing can divert our attention from all the constructive work in which we could and should be engaged.”

and

“* acquiesced in, or by any means approve, the methods that McCarthy uses in his investigatory process. I despise them.”*

People complain about “political correctness”, but you certainly want it be enforced. You want to ruin the livelihoods of those who have some socialists and have them blacklisted. It is hard to escape the conclusion that you support repression.

It is absolute hypocrisy to complain about supposed liberal “political correctness” when you want to those who espouse some socialist ideals to be politically and socially disenfranchised and alienated.

I don’t see how Allende is any different from Johnson and Nixon who sent the National Guard against the Kent State protestors and have a massive covert operation against dissident radical groups. Now tell me, how Allende is worse than Pinochet in respect human rights. Did Allende torture dissidents?

One can Question McCarthys tactics but the Verona papers proved that in substance he was right

He would be pleased to know that in the enlightened days of the 21st-century we now concentrate on much more important things than communist iinfiltration of the government - like punishing Florists who refuse to provide flowers for homosexual “weddings” and tracking down evildoers who chalked Donald Trump’s name on the sidewalks of college campuses

Is there any evidence that there is a communist infiltration of our government?

I believe we were talking about Eisenhower-and yes there is fast evidence that there was a communist infiltration of our government

Actually, we are responding to a poster that wants to bring back that HUAC. This is all because of one person at a Sanders rally. Now the question is, should we violate someone’s free speech rights just because we don’t like their viewpoint?
