<<Spritually superior not at all.
But no longer under false teaching, yes.>>

Where did you get the idea you were not under false teaching?

The very claim is in itself a claim to spiritual superiority.

Don’t you just HATE it when others don’t acknowledge your self-conferred spiritual superiority?
I am like the bereans. That is how I know right from wrong.

Actually, the Greek word ANEMNESIS used in the Synoptic Gospels does NOT mean a mere mental remembrance.

It means to make present that which is thus commemorated.

That’s what the Bible teaches.

If your church doesn’t teach this, it’s not a Bible believing Church, and you are receiving mere bread and wine–possibly unto your own damnation.

Jesus is present in my church when we have services.
Where ever two or more are gathered in His name.
If He is in the building, He is in the bread.

Who taught you in the Catholic Church? Where the teachings within the grounds of the Baltimore Catechism, or Catholic Catechism?
I went to catholic school in NY. Which Catechism they use is a mystery.

It is apparent that misslollipop was taught incorrectly. Base on what she said the Scapular is all that is needed to be saved (Correct me if I’m wrong). No where in the Catechism states that.

The Scapular is cosidered part of private revelation which a Catholic may believe or not believe. It is merely a devotional that remains the individual we belong to God.

I were it the Scapular not because it saves me. It can’t do it. I wear because its a reminder who I belong too.

If you want correct Catholic Church teachings you ought to read that the Catholic Church had to say:

scborromeo.org/ccc.htm Catechism of the Catholic Church.

Fr. Corapi has a Lecture series on the Catechism title: The Teaching of Jesus Christ.

I think you need to at least re-learn the faith and not jump into conclusion what the CC teaches.

I recieve communion at my church. Body and blood of Christ.
We do it in rememberance of Him.
Catholics do believe in the Bible, it is the infallible Word of God. However, we believe in it from the mind and heart of the Church that was founded by Christ. Our understanding of scripture is the ancient understanding. So when Our Lord’s words were translated into “do this in rememberance of Me” we know that the original meaning was “make present a memorial for Me”. When He said “This is my Body”, He was speaking literally-- as the earliest Christians believed. We also see, with incredible sorrow, millions walking away from this teaching, because it is too hard to understand, just as they did in John 6:66.

Since your pastor is not part of the apostolic succession, he has no authority to consecrate bread and wine. Christ gave this authority to His apostles, all Catholic priests have that same authority. So when a priest consecrates the bread and wine it becomes the Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of Christ. When your pastor brings out the bread and wine and says his words of rememberance, absolutely nothing happens as he has no authority. Of course, Christ is present where two are more are gathered in His name, but He is not present Sacramentally.

You may believe in the Bible with all your heart, but you do not seem to understand what it is telling you. By your own admission, you have indicated that you went for many years misunderstanding the meaning of the scapular-- you should consider the possibility that you now same misunderstanding with the Truth contained in the Word.

Well said.

I was taught when I grew up that if I wore the scapular,I would go right to heaven when I die. I carried a scapular for many years during my late teens and early twenties.
So I was basing my salvation on two pieces of paper connected with a string!
On one piece of paper was a picture or an artists rendition of Mary. On the other was a rendition of a heart. Supposedly the heart of Jesus.
It is now twenty years after carrying that religious relic. I have since accepted Christ as my Lord and Saviour and have been born again.
Now I read the bible and I am maturing in my faith.
I look back with horror and anger of what I was erroneously taught about that scapular.
I was basing my eternal resting place on two pieces of paper connected with a string!
What a travesty.
I thank the Lord that I didn’t die while carrying that thing.
Praise God for showing me the error of my ways.
Another example of what poor and improper teaching can lead to.

I am sorry that you felt you had to leave the Church to find the Lord. I hope you are honestly willing to learn what the Church really teaches.

The scapular does not save. The scapular is an external symbol of both commitment and personal sacrifice to God. Once I learned what it meant, about a year after my conversion, I began to wear it.

I like to add what Prayer_Warrior said, and I shall quote St. Ignatius of Antioch:
Saint Ignatius of Antioch Epistle to Smyrnaeans:
They abstain from the Eucharist and from prayer, because they confess not the Eucharist to be the flesh of our Saviour Jesus Christ, which suffered for our sins, and which the Father, of His goodness, raised up again. Those, therefore, who speak against this gift of God, incur death in the midst of their disputes. But it were better for them to treat it with respect, that they also might rise again. It is fitting, therefore, that you should keep aloof from such persons, and not to speak of them either in private or in public, but to give heed to the prophets, and above all, to the Gospel, in which the passion [of Christ] has been revealed to us, and the resurrection has been fully proved. But avoid all divisions, as the beginning of evils.

See that you all follow the bishop, even as Jesus Christ does the Father, and the presbytery as you would the apostles; and reverence the deacons, as being the institution of God. Let no man do anything connected with the Church without the bishop. Let that be deemed a proper Eucharist, which is [administered] either by the bishop, or by one to whom he has entrusted it. Wherever the** bishop shall appear, there let the multitude [of the people] also be**; even as, wherever Jesus Christ is, there is the Catholic Church. It is not lawful without the bishop either to baptize or to celebrate a love-feast; but whatsoever he shall approve of, that is also pleasing to God, so that everything that is done may be secure and valid.
In other words, the bishop or his representative a priest can consecrate the Eucharist. If your minister is not ordain by a bishop, your Holy Communion is not really the Body and Blood of the Lord. Since there is valid laying down on hands. There is a lack of Apostolic Succession.

If you truly wish to received the Body and Blood of the Lord, you are better off returning to the Catholic Church, or the Eastern Orthodox Church. There Jesus is Truly Present.

This is the topic for another thread.
I know this: as a catholic there was a wafer and a cup of wine. You claim that the elements actually become flesh and blood.
I’m sure you know that it has been scientifically proven through testing that the elements remain wafer and wine. They do not physically change to flesh and blood.
Do you really think those elements turn into skin and blood.
I took catholic communion a 1000 times, never saw skin and blood.
Did you ever taste actual blood?
It doesn’t taste anything like what is in that chalice.

I didn’t misunderstand what I was taught.
I was taught a falsehood.
There is the problem. False teaching

So the picture of Mary and the picture of the thorny heart is a symbol of what you believe in?
Where is God or Christ’s death on the cross represented in those images?

Not all scapulars have those particular pictures on them. But the ‘thorny heart’ is indeed a representation of Jesus on the cross. It is Jesus’ heart with the crown of thorns–a sign of his passion and death.
