Scariest and Most Depressing thing I have read

Here’s the two sides to this.

Either God is a loving and compassionate father who will welcome sinners to his breast like He’s claimed dozens of times in the Bible.

Or He’s a liar. And not compassionate. But is instead a heartless perfectionist.

There’s only one of the above I’d be comfortable spending an eternity with anyway.

What I do know is: God is the creator of the forces that create black-holes, novae, stars, quazars and planets.

God is not a soft warm fuzzy.

The fact that He loves us is a mystery that I can not comprehend.

Trying to trap God into neat little boxes of “this” or “that” would be like trapping a black holes, novae, stars, quazars and planets in a shoe box.

It can’t be done.

Jesus did say Heaven is a narrow path and there are few who find it.

His Apostles asked once: “Who then can be saved?!!!”

To.which Jesus replied; “To man, this is impossible, but through God, it is possible.”

Just stick with the sacraments, confess, live a healthy balanced life, avoid sin, confess if you fall, trust in God’s Mercy,

Jesus told St Faustina, Heaven Is given to those who persevere,
Those who get back up each time they fall.

A Catholic isn’t perfect, a catholic.just gets back up and confesses when they slip,

I read recently:
“It is better to fail occasionally at being perfect,
Then to altogether succeed at being unholy.”

Keep going to confession and trust in His Mercy.

Read the book “Come Be My Light” the private writings of the Saint of Calcutta.

Blessed Mother Teresa of Calcutta suffered with what you are describing. I have no idea if what you are dealing with is depression or if you are walking the path that Mother Teresa walked. I think that for a long time the only presence she found of Christ was in the eyes of dying and the sick she cared for. Yet, she remained true to Him.

Saint Therese of Lisieux also struggled with this.

It is easy to say that God does love you but you are in a lonely place right now and it may be that the only thing you can do is to hang on to that hope with all your strength.

Would you recognize His voice if you heard it?
Perhaps He is calling you in your loneliness to reach out to others.

I sense that you want an explanation of why God seems so far from you. That is beyond the abilities of anyone on this or any other forum. I can’t feel what you feel. I can’t experience what you experience. I can’t begin to understand the mind of God.

Perhaps you are trying to hard. Perhaps you are wanting to much. Perhaps God is waiting for your acceptance. I don’t have an answer for you. I can only surmise possibilities.

I can only suggest that you:
Trust in His mercy. Accept His silence. Give your life to Him.

I have two recommendations that have benefited me:

1. Read ‘The Way of Divine Love.’
2. Frequently recite this prayer: “O Jesus, King of Love, I put my trust in Thy loving mercy!” (This was revealed to Servant of God Yvonne Aimee)

God has not abandoned you. It is utterly impossible for us to seek God without His grace. We cannot ascend to God, said Our Lord to Sr. Jeanne Benigne Gojos, without His divine inspiration. Let yourself be carried like an infant to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, from which this inspiration comes. Entrust yourself to Mary, the Mother of Mercy; she will infallibly help you.

I always thought many people would go to Purgatory but this makes it seem impossible for us to avoid Hell.

Add the imperfect contrition and death before confession means I don’t stand a chance.

Would it not have been better if none of us were ever born?

My problem is not loneliness, the problem is God not wanting me.

I can only suggest that you:
Trust in His mercy. Accept His silence. Give your life to Him.

If my wife gave me the silent treatment, I’m in trouble.

I have a corporate relationship with God. I’m in the body of Christ - so incorporated.

I cannot ascend to God, if he does not want me.

I want to let myself be carried to him since I cannot do it myself, but I don’t see the carrying being done.

If God has never spoken to you, how do you know that he does not want you?
You seem to want what our great saints have had. But are you willing to sacrifice all your heart, body and soul the way they did?

You present a unusual question for sure. I doubt if any one of us has approach this question in this way rather unique way.

One part of me wants to scream out, “Oh for heaven’s sake grow up. Why should you expect special treatment. Very few people experience God as a saint does and they still manage to have faith and closeness with Christ.”

The other part of me wants to understand your obvious pain and suffering. You are wanting something that you can not have. I really think that you need to accept this cross. I am reasonably sure no one on this forum will be able to give you advice that will help if you close off their reasoning.

Another approach:

Read the story of Moses and the Burning Bush and ask yourself, do you really want God to speak to you? What if His words are similar as the word spoken to Moses. Are you ready and willing to walk into Egypt and demand freedom for your people? Are you ready and willing to give all your money to the poor? Are you ready to sacrifice your live?

God may speak to you some day and perhaps in ways you do not expect.
