Bingo. That’s the main issue I have with their guidelines. By ambiguously stating that a larger girl can’t wear the same dress as a smaller girl they’re implicitly stating that there’s something wrong with the larger girl. Without even getting into the nitty gritty of specific dresses. That part of this story, strikes me as almost as demeaning as someone “looking over every crevice” of someone’s body for the purposes of lusting.
While modesty is important, I think we need to make sure we’re not accusing women of a certain body type of essentially being occasions for sin for others, by their mere existence. I think that crosses the line, although I’m not sure I’d call it body-shaming. But I have read many laments from women here who find it very difficult to find modest clothing for their body types, that even if they cover up to the neck, they cannot hide the contour of their bodies, and feel like “if I really don’t want to have anyone lusting after me I’d have to stay at home and never go out”.
