Sean Hannity faces-off with Priest who calls him heretic

The whole blogosphere is talking about this issue now during the season of lent when we are all supposed to repent.

If this issue just gets one more person to take a second look at their soul and go to confession during lent, then it was well worth it.

I think Fr. E’s original intent with the interview was to get this issue into the blogosphere’s!

I was putting Fr E on the side of God. I think that is fair as he was speaking what is true. I think it is unfair to characterize his comments as uncharitable.

That’s what happens when the Catholic Catechism was not taught very well in our Catholic schools for over a generation…

but now we have Christopher West, Fr. Thomas Loya and Jason Evert teaching “The Theology of the Body” and I think Catholics are beginning to catch on.

Can contraception cause an early abortion?

The pill, Norplant, Depo-Provera, emergency contraception, the IUD - all of these chemical contraceptives have three basic modes of operation:
  • They can act to suppress ovulation (the release of an egg from the ovary). However, women can and do experience breakthrough ovulation, meaning that an egg is released and available to be fertilized.
  • They can cause the cervical mucus to thicken, making it difficult for the sperm to reach the egg. It is possible, though, for the sperm to break through the mucus and to fertilize the egg.
  • They can alter the lining of the uterus making it difficult, if not impossible, for the 7-9 day old developing baby to attach to the uterine lining, where it would receive the nourishment necessary for further development. The baby would then be expelled from the body during menstruation. This process is known as a chemical abortion and is why the pill is referred to as an abortifacient.

I didn’t identify a specific individual here. I just said that in response to what was posted.

If that is still wrong of me to say that then I would assume that all the other posts where it identifies other prominent Catholics as heretics should be purged too.

Sometimes being Catholic means stating truths that otherwise we might not want to do. After all Our Lord did the same too with the Pharisees in public.

Liberals, not Mike262, have successfully turned the word heretic into a slur instead of a way of defining things accurately. It is no longer used and that is a shame.
 
Why did Sean keep bringing up the sexual abuse scandal? Why ? Why? It had nothing to do with the duscussion, but Sean felt it necessary to further criticize the Church or bring dishonor on it? What motivated Sean to do this?

It was Sean that did not respond to Fr. E’s private correspondence but wanted to put this fiasco on the air for public viewing for show ratings at the expense of the Church.

Satan was working through Sean Hannity, plain and simple. Sean needs our prayers very badly.

First of all, whether somebody is a heretic or not is not your call. Of course, you have a right to your opinion, but thats all it is, your opinion.

Secondly, many people throw that word around on this forum like a spear. If somebody doesn’t agree with a particular teaching, some here automatically feel they are guilty of heresy. We have alot of “unofficial” judges that hang out on this forum. I assure you, God doesn’t need any help, and he may be taking note of folks who try to assume that role for him.

If you feel these folks are wrong, fine, but don’t start throwing accusations around, pray for them instead. It may help them, and it puts you in a better light as well.

Years ago, if one was labeled a heretic (rightfully or not), you were burned, literally. It’s a pretty serious accusation IMO, now and in the past.

I can see why one would get defensive, if accused of that.

I didn’t realize Alan Combs claims to be Catholic, then trashes his church and their beliefs and teachings on his show for ratngs. Not even Alan Combs would stoop to that level.

Wow, try telling me a week ago I would be criticizing Sean Hannity and defending Alan Combs. I would have thought…:confused:

Do you think the average person who is accused of holding heretical opinions is concerned about auto-da-fe? I think rightly used it can show the gravity in clinging to denial of truth.
