I haven’t the time (nor the inclination) to play a guessing game with you. If you have information you’d like to share, please share it.
I wouldnt waste my time quessing, either. I’d look it up.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cinnamon

“Cinnamon (Cinnamomum verum, synonym C. zeylanicum) is a small evergreen tree 10–15 metres (32.8–49.2 feet) tall, belonging to the family Lauraceae, and is native to Sri Lanka.”

… It was imported to Egypt from China as early as 2000 BC. It is mentioned in the Bible in Exodus 30:23, where Moses is commanded to use both sweet cinnamon (Hebrew קִנָּמוֹן, qinnāmôn) and cassia in the holy anointing oil; in Proverbs 7:17–18, where the lover’s bed is perfumed with myrrh, aloe and cinnamon; and in Song of Solomon 4:14, a song describing the beauty of his beloved, cinnamon scents her garments like the smell of Lebanon."

emphasis added–Sri Lanka is the old Ceylon.

It is wrong to say hateful thing about other beliefs systems. It is correct to tell the truth in love though. Be careful with this reliegion. They say that the Sabbath is a required day of worship. Romans 14:5-9 tells us that we can worship on any day we would like. They also believe in what is called soul sleep. That after death we go into a sort of sleep where we are not conscious of our existence. Paul said on the other hand “to be absent from the body is be present with the Lord.” They also believe that God is through with Israel and this totaly wrong, Romans 11. There are a few other issue but I just want you to be careful with this religion.

That is the Christ-like way.
They say that the Sabbath is a required day of worship.
God did that in the 4th commandment; we didn’t make it up.
Romans 14:5-9 tells us that we can worship on any day we would like.
  1. Paul didn’t say anything about worship in those verses. 2) It was God who set aside the day and blessed it, not man–so what man esteems is irrelevant.
They also believe in what is called soul sleep. That after death we go into a sort of sleep where we are not conscious of our existence.
Correct, although in sleep we are conscious, so the term is a misnomer.
Paul said on the other hand “to be absent from the body is be present with the Lord.”
And yet when Christ died He stayed in the tomb and when He arose on Sunday morn He told Mary not to hold onto Him because He had not yet ascended to the father.
They also believe that God is through with Israel
We do not teach that. As nation, yes; but not as individuals.

It sounds like you have been misled as to what SDA’s actually teach.

Even when you say things like “be careful with this religion” meaning mine, I do not see that kind of thing as “hateful” or any such thing. We should have the right to say this kind of thing; and if we are right, we have an obligation to say it. That’s why it’s wrong, in the majority of cases, to whip the opponent with words like “viscious” “hate” and anti whatever…although, I have no trouble with anyone if they think I or my church is “antiChrist” because this is something that all Christians want to avoid - hence we need to speak about it in an honest, but fair way. To me it’s nothing to do with hate when we consider a belief system “antiChrist.” Christian love and concern could be whats behind it.

The one comment you made about our belief on Israel is interesting. Can you tell me the source of your understanding this belief you say we have?

And how do you maintain your connection with the Living Vine, Jesus Christ?

God bless all!!!
Patrick; your question kind of sounds like you are hinting that there is only one way to “maintain your connection with the living Vine.” Can you enlighten me if I am getting the wrong picture of what you are driving at here?

Is your point that there was a brisk international trade in spices in the ancient world? I think we all knew that. Again, why the guessing game?

Well, I don’t know how brisk it was; but, I didn’t know about cinnamon being traded till I read it (and then in finding that quote from Wiki for you, I was amazed that the cinnamon came from China–why would it skip Sri Lanka?). There’s lots of little clues as to what was going on in Scripture and at the same time there’s lots of detail we’d love to have that they didn’t record.

Hi Protestant101,

Yes you are getting the wrong picture as to what I’m “driving at”. And perhaps it is my fault…I’m trying to express this as clearly as I can. I tried to explain this to djconklin in Post # 251 of this thread…on the previous page, but he and I seem to be at a communication impasse. For some reason, he thinks that since I quoted scripture that somehow negates the point I was making. Read Post # 251 if you will and I will try to make myself clear here as well.

I have noticed erroneous statements and ideas regarding the SDA church that I know are not what the SDA church teaches. It seems almost as impossible for me to convince some Catholics that the SDAs are not the cult they believe them to be, as it is to convince the SDAs that The Catholic Church is scripturally based and not the anti-christ.

If there is anyone out there who understands this please PM me and let me know that I’m not alone in seeing this. It seems the prejudices and pre-conceived notions held by many prevent us from communicating our points.

And now Protestant101, since I know your desire to share the love of Jesus Christ, I will try to again explain my thoughts regarding maintaining a connection to the True Vine, Jesus Christ.

I believe that we maintain a connection to Jesus Christ (and I will probably miss some) by:
  1. Prayer, publicly and most importantly in private
  2. Studying the Gospels and applying Jesus’ teachings to our daily lives
  3. Studying the scriptures
  4. Meditating, Contemplating, Reflecting…on the scriptures, our lives, our shortcomings, our victories, which always make us aware of our need for Jesus and lead us back to Him
  5. Worshiping God in public
  6. Confessing our sins, repenting, and moving forward
  7. Receiving Grace from God for the strength to follow HIm at all times…bad times and good times.
  8. Serving others
  9. Dying to self, and allowing the Holy Spirit to create us anew.
  10. Paticipating in the communion of The Lord’s Supper by eating His flesh and drinking His blood, and receiving Him in complete fullness…body, blood, sould, and divinity…as He instructed.
The first nine aid in maintaining our connection to the Living Vine, Jesus Christ, in important…not to be neglected…daily association with Jesus.

And number 10, I believe, is the only way in which we truely become a part of Jesus Christ’s Body. Only in receiving His body, blood, soul, and divinity by eating HIs flesh and drinking His blood in the celebration of The Lord’s Supper, that Jesus Himself instituted, and as shared in by His followers from that first night forward to this very day; can I become a living part of Jesus’ Body…spiritually, intellectually, physically, and totally in a mystery that can only be understood through the grace of the Holy Spirit.

This is the only way that I, a branch foreign to the True Vine, can be grafted onto the True Vine and have it’s life giving sap flow from its roots and into my branch, giving my leaves and fruit true life from the source.

The other 9 ways help maintain that life…but I can only become a part of that life giving body and blood by eating and drinking that life giving body and blood, and have it become a part of my being. And in that Jesus brings us into His Living Body. And as a part of His Living Body, I will be subsumed into Life Eternal. Jesus in me, and I in Him. Jesus abiding and dwelling in us, and we in Him.

I hope I have clarified my self a little better this time.

God bless all!!!

I agree–it also to helps to listen to and sing along with good Gospel music.

I disagree about point #10; and that is what i figured you had in mind with the post I questioned. But it will be a while before I reply to that in detail. I will be gone for a short bit.

Number 10 is the Source and the Summit of the Christian Church and religion, from the beginning when Jesus established His Church.

I wonder what you will reply in detail with that you have not said before, and that we have not talked about over and over and over. What more can be said that we have not said in multiple other threads?

We obviously disagree. At this point it is a matter of prayer and faith for us.

I believe The Catholic Church is God’s One True Church…His One True Fold to which He is calling those who belong to Him.

You believe the Seventh-day Adventist Church is the true Church. I once believed that too. But I do not believe that any longer for reasons I’ve given in so many other threads.

I pray daily for your health, safety, success, and eternal life, and I will continue to do so. I ask that you remember me in your prayers from time to time!!!

God bless all!!!

I believe The Catholic Church is God’s One True Church … You believe the Seventh-day Adventist Church is the true Church.
Anyone who believes that a denomination is the true church doesn’t know their Bible. Such thinking makes a mockery of Revelation 18:4.

Howdy Patrick; this will be my last post for a while, I will be too busy to post for a bit, but I am surprised you would think enough has been said regarding the #10 point you made! There’s lots more to come as far as I can see…Till next time!!

Personal note as it relates to the plagiartism claim made against EGW:

I’ve been using WCopyfind to find and analyze all the text files. But, recently it seemed to stop working. It turns out that while Windows will let me name a file “M’Clintock” as in the author’s name, WCopyfind couldn’t find it till I took the apostrophe out!
