I do not like to shake hands. Too much icky can be involved.
I find it less offensive to hug at the Peace Greeting.
There is no reason for the Sign of Peace to take longer than the Homily does, though. There is no reason why any one needs to greet personally every person.
There are many problems with suggesting that people MUST, or even SHOULD hold hands during the Lord’s Prayer - sure, for some, it’s a natural thing to do, and it’s nice. If, however, one needs to move their feet more than 3" in order to take someone’s hands, or if one should choose to not hold hands, but is ‘grabbed’ (for lack of a better term) in order to come into the group that is holding hands, that’s a problem! Just like saying ‘I love you’ to someone should be something that comes natural, and you do when it feels right to you, one should also hold hands when praying, no matter who they are praying with, or about:shrug:
