Before the change to this format, the rule for the World News Subforum was that news articles had to be from a legitimate news source.

I believe it should be reinstated.
 
I’m not surprised by the low number. The reported deaths from COVID has always been mentioned as being a grey area, with most that passed having been sickly with other possible causes of death.

I agree. The spin that has been put on this disease that led to such restrictive policies is atrocious.
 
There is no spin.

It’s highly contagious.

180,000 people have died.

There is no end in sight.

During WWII, we rationed, we went without. Women went without stockings because nylon was needed for parachutes and uniforms.

Now we complain about wearing a mask, and socially distancing.
 
The amount of dead is 180,000.

The article pretends it’s only 9000 because they think you are supposed to just die of covid.

It wants you to believe that a respiratory disease that causes death by pneumonia , didn’t cause the death but the pneumonia did.

It’s irresponsible and the epitome of fake news.
 
Bloomberg (gasp! a mainstream site!) reported months ago that 98% of Italian deaths from Covid-19 included one or more underlying conditions. 98%!!! NY state used to report this too. Around the time NY went over 1000 deaths, there was a report put out by their public health department that stated that just 18 out of those 1046 deaths had no underlying conditions. No doubt these trends continued. But this aspect has been severely understated in the madness that has seen the government stop far too many healthy people from making a living.

It sure seemed like every time I saw one of those articles about multiple family members getting Covid-19 and dying from it, all one had to do was look at the family photographs and see how overweight they were; some were definitely obese. Maybe that’s why those articles aren’t seen that often anymore. People are not as dumb as the government and the press think they are.

There’s an NIH source I reported months ago from a study in 2011, iirc, that stated that the average time in a skilled nursing facility before death was somewhere around six months. Meaning the average resident committed to one of those facilities would likely be gone in six months anyway. Granted this is skilled nursing which in Medicare is the next level up from assisted living which will have its own numbers along those lines. But the implication is that it’s possible all Covid-19 did in the skilled nursing facilities was pull their deaths forward a few months. Perhaps the same in assisted living. If this is so, the overall death from all causes statistics should bear this out in a year’s time.

So the debate is still with us: “died of Covid-19” vs. “died with Covid-19”.

Anyone with a lick of sense can go to the CDC website and in seconds see what a load of fertilizer this claim is. No shock. No conspiracy. It is just a political appeal to those without respect and understanding for medical science. Furthermore, even if there was even a hint of truth in this, which I will not waste my time with, all that would mean is that at this time there are 9000 without some factor made them more susceptible to death from COVID that we may not know about. The specific spin I’m talking about here is that family and clergy of dying people were prohibited from providing comfort to them in their greatest need. If PPE protects (as we’re told), then the dying should have been able to pass in the presence and comfort of their families and clergy.

That is no reason not to count them. Other countries do. We can’t structure our medical system based on just how it treats Olympic athletes. We need to consider those with asthma as just as important as those without asthma.
 
Well, if there is a point to it, it is strange that no one is stating what the point is. So you can see how one could conclude there is no point.
 
Well. The point I am trying to make (And i feel you are reading too much into the article) is -What is a COVID death?

Is it because of the virus directly?

or because the person already had other conditions that were exacerbated by the virus?

The above is extremely important to know, to gauge and understand the virus . It’s not every year that the entire world shuts down and it would be nice to know how bad the virus is and who is affected, so that those who are most vulnerable stay home and the rest go out and work. Not to mention go to church and just live as normal human beings instead of being cooped up inside with fear, doom and gloom.

Do you believe that trump started the virus? You called it the trump pandemic. I thought it was from China and then gradually spread to the entire world.

Different countries have different ways of handling it (Since it was after all a ‘novel’ virus). Could things have been done better by trump early on?-sure.

If we’re making it political- what about democrat governors , who mishandled it? I mean democrat states have the highest death rates

That’s not what the cdc info means.
  1. The gateway pundit article is meant to make you think “hey covid only has this many deaths! Wow that’s not too bad”!
  2. When you look at the cdc statistics you will see
    what the comorbidities are: things like pneumonia, respiratory distress, cardiac arrest.
  3. Which makes sense because it’s a respiratory disease. The covid caused the pneumonia
  4. But it also doesn’t prove that only 9,000 died of covid. 9000 people had “covid” As the sole cause of death on the death certificate.
  5. The gateway pundit article is meant to obscure reality. And lead the reader to believe that there isn’t a massive amount of death. That’s a lie.
 
It has been politicized and overblown for that purpose. The Dems have allowed all the confusion and chaos to ensue .Its only now when they see their numbers are they showing any concern…too little too late except for those who will vote for them no matter what.
 
No one ever said that on.y nine thousand died. The majority of deaths attributed to covid exclusively was 6% . As with the year.y flu,anyone with compromised health issues is at greater risk of dying.We already know that. It has been intentionally misrepresented from the get go.It is a politicL season,soooooo…
