Do men who wear earrings tend to vote Democrat or Republican?
I find they usually vote D.

Im sure there are Bible passages that indicate that it isnt a good thing. I dont think they use the word earring, but that gender identity is very important, especially to young kids.

Here are some passages I found that at the least say that women and men have distinct qualities they are associated with, ie hair, jewelry, etc.
1Peter3:
1 Likewise you wives, be submissive to your husbands, so that some, though they do not obey the word, may be won without a word by the behavior of their wives, 2 when they see your reverent and chaste behavior. 3 Let not yours be the outward adorning with braiding of hair, decoration of gold, and wearing of fine clothing, 4 but let it be the hidden person of the heart with the imperishable jewel of a gentle and quiet spirit, which in God’s sight is very precious.
1Tim2:
9 also that women should adorn themselves modestly and sensibly in seemly apparel, not with braided hair or gold or pearls or costly attire
1Cor11:
14 Does not nature itself teach you that for a man to wear long hair is degrading to him, 15 but if a woman has long hair, it is her pride?
Isaiah61:
10 I will greatly rejoice in the LORD, my soul shall exult in my God; for he has clothed me with the garments of salvation, he has covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decks himself with a garland, and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.
There is ways to dress for men and ways to dress for women.

(Uhm, yea, I think this little remark has made the argument in support of my position. Thanks for the help.😛

What that getting your ear pierced causes you to pee sitting down? 😃

Rand Al'Thor:
no, it’s true. the fact that you’ve been repeatedly told otherwise and yet choose to ignore it proves it. the women wearing pants is the best example. it used to be unheard of for women to wear pants, but now nearly every woman in the country does so…
Rand it was long before you were in existence. Pants on women have been quite acceptable for close to a century. My grandmother who was born in the late 1800s didn’t wear pants as a young woman but by the time she was married (20s) it was not considered outlandish, particularly for women like her, who worked on farms. So I really don’t think it’s a particularly good analogy when discussing men wearing earrings. Sure it’s been happening but it’s never been mainstream.
Rand Al'Thor:
i fail to see how this is not “masculine” and yet men wearing earrings is “feminine” when the men wearing earrings are not feminine.
Well maybe 100 years from now men with earrings will be considered mainstream. Right now they are considered a bit untraditional and out of place unless you are an artist, rock star, biker or student.

Not only that, but it seems female pant wearing evolved over time. It may have started out for convenience sake and became more mainstream. It may have started out for reasons of utility. Even today, would most women think they feel more feminine in pants or a skirt/dress?

It may evolve, but it went from women to “gays” to outlaw bikers and then to the liberals and finally to those who want to be considered "with it ". The trajectory seems a bit unreasonable to many folks.

My real point is to question all these silly fads and not accept each one as harmless.

I bet many lurking on this thread could easily see the connection. 😉

i’m very aware that this was all well before my time…im only 21. but in trying to disprove my analogy, you’ve actually proved my point. your grandmother was born in a time when women didnt wear pants yet later in her life they began to. and now everyone does.
same thing with earrings. of course it’s not mainstream, but neither was women’s pants when they started wearing them. my point was everything starts somewhere and takes a while to be accepted.

that was exactly my point. it didnt just all of a sudden become something everyone did.

Men wearing earrings frankly impresses me not one way or the other. Forced to take a stand, I’d say it often looks a bit silly, but then so do many things that people do in the name of fashion.

However, last Saturday I stopped for gas. I saw a young man with a – and I kid you not – padlock through his ear as an earring. It may be the same one he uses to lock up his locker at school during the day. Who knows? His earlobe was being stretched to an absurd shape.

I don’t care who you are – male or female – wearing something you bought at Ace Hardware stuck through your body is silly.

What will the bullies think up next to do to the freshmen?

It is silly to risk not only infection, but permanent disfigurement. Lots of these piercings are dangerous, particularly when they put the wound in contact with saliva all the time.

Another point: be careful around small children, even with just ear lobe piercings. Lots of doctors have told me they lost count of how many ear lobes they’ve had to sew up. Add the chance of swallowing, and it’s better to just put the earring collection away until the kiddos get old enough to quit grabbing and nibbling.

The only thing worse than men wearing earrings is people wearing face rings, gross. What will they think of next?

There is something else but you don’t want to know!

I don’t like it, but I don’t really see it as wrong, let alone sinful. I would never get an earring and I am somewhat careful towards men with pierced ears (don’t know what ideology they might have). Pierced noses make more of a problem and pierced eyebrows.

I’m more relaxed when it comes to women and I have no problem with even multiple earrings anywhere on the ear. On the nose, it may well be in accord with her general visual image and can make sense. But eyebrows are a tad bit too much.

I don’t mean I judge the people or anything, but I don’t enjoy talking to people with unaesthetic looks and there are youth cultures which are not much to my liking for a variety of reasons.

Suffice to say, free love and drugs are not my style.

Not everything *should *be accepted. That is my point.

Women want to do the things men do, wear what they do, act like they do. And women want men to do the things they have always done, like take care of the kids, do the housework, etc. Now men want to wear earrings like women, long hair like women. Half the time I don’t know a man from a woman from a man. Soon we will evolve into non gender beings. Probably will serve us right.

I think it is wrong for both men and women to have piercings on any part of their bodies.

WOW!!! SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO many people here are SOOOOOOOOOO very much sheltered!!! I have already seen men in “feminine” dress, Eddie Izzard, Dennis Rodman, Alan Cumming… (hetero, bi (I think), and gay, btw). Don’t act like it hasn’t already happened…

Catholic Dude:
And whats next men shaving their legs?
I can understand men shaving their bodies,IF they are professional swimmers or runners. but other than that, No way!

I shave my head, what’s next women shaving their heads!

I cannot resist any longer. There is nothing wrong with anybody wearing earrings. Men, or women.
As far as piercing tongues, tattoes, etc–I think the tongue rings are :whacky: stupid, but that’s because (despite what people w/pierced tongues seem to think), they sound like they just came from the dentist & the novocaine hasn’t worn off. But hey–that’s me…
Tattooes? Well, one friend (female) is often heard to:rolleyes: encourage the fearful with: “There’s nothing to it. It doesn’t hurt nearly as much as having a baby”. (This is supposed to be reassuring…)
Are earrings feminine? Do they blur the genders? You have to be kidding me!! Men pierced their ears & wore earrings for centuries on end! Only the Victorian age seemed to put any kind of a dent in it. Up until then, it was very common–often, as common as for women. (In fact, my grandmother went to her grave thinking that hoop earrings were "indecent"for women --because, when she was a girl, they were all but exclusively worn by men. She thought women with hoops were trying to look like guys.)
The men I know who wear earrings are very masculine indeed. There is no “blurring of gender roles”. It is just a matter of taste.

It’s no big deal if you ask me. It’s a matter of personal choice.

Exactly. It has happended. I do not buy the argument that men have always worn female adornments. Perhaps it was common in another culture in another time, but in recent history and in this culture it is not a masculine trait.
