I am better off sticking to the Bible, right?
Since you seem bent on bashing what catholics believe, you need to fist know what catholics believe. This is what we are trying to tell you. Get a copy of the catechism and read it. When you find things that in your opinion go against scripture, we can talk about those. I am willing to bet all my money, future, and health that there isn’t a passage anywhere in scripture that says “Catholics believe the pope is god himself!” so you are already reaching outside of scripture.

So am I better off sticking to the Bible? What if I choose to only live by the Bible, what will happen?

I knew you would take that the wrong way. You just did my job for me…lol

Can’t you see it? You and others of your faith don’t agree. Some are saying, it was said but taken out of context, while others are saying it wasn’t said.

Also, why is scripture rarely used to support claims on this website?
Oh, okay, changing tactics again. Okay. So, it wasn’t ME who said it, though, you said it was, and you want me to believe this is on me? I just wanted to make sure you had reading comprehention. You have shown you do not comprehend the English language, which is fine, you don’t need to know when you have love in your heart, but, if you don’t understand what others or yourself are saying, you probably would do well not to post on a public forum.

Nobody said it was said, they are all saying it was never said and they are all showing you the actual quote of what was said. Everybody who is defending against your accusation is saying that it was made up.

Start a new thread on that last question.

Remember to be charitable. Even if somebody says something ridiculous or just doesn’t understand what you’re trying to say to them, you need to answer with respect. Even if they’re disrespectful to you.

If you laugh at them, they’ll dislike you, see you as the enemy, and refuse to think logically, becoming only interested in “beating you in the argument” and not in trying to find the truth.

Be careful! If you say the right thing in the wrong way, you’ll do more damage than good. In this case especially, it’s clear that the OP is just as much the victim of fanciful anti-Catholic fables as he is guilty of spreading them.
Captain, I thank you for your comments, and I agree with them, I do, BUT, in this instance, what he said was hilarious. I wasn’t laughing at him with this one, I was laughing at the ludicrous statement.

Don’t skip post 31

Why are you attacking me on a personal level? Let’s stick to the Bible.

For what? Instruction in christianity? YES. The bible is infallible and truth.

But you are making accusations against catholics that are not found in the bible.
Inerrant. The Bible is inerrant. The Pope is infallible, the Bible is inerrant, it does not contain errors, but, cannot, in and of itself teach or proclaim.

He is certainly presenting himself as a victim, but he is also acting in a very insulting manner. I understand that he must feel rather silly in finding out that his ‘quotes’ from whatever ‘site-o-bigots’ he cut-and-pasted are false, fakes, phonies, chimeras, phantasms, etc., but notice that rather than address his own egregious errors he attempts to play the martyr card, attempts to redirect the subject, etc. That is not the mark of a Christian apologist–that is the mark of somebody who (no matter how putatively well-intentioned) thought that he was going to ‘blow Catholics out of the water’ and was well ‘blown’ himself. The idea that his ‘quotes’ were fakes never seem to have occurred to him. . .and for somebody who harps incessantly on ‘bible-bible-bible’ it seems he accepts whatever ‘source’ that offered his original dreck as being equally inerrant. Hopefully he might (between futile attempts to keep attacking) start to wonder . . .“hey, if this site was wrong on this quote (even though I’m still convinced Cat-licks are the debbil), maybe it was wrong on something else I’ve always accepted as ‘true’ too. . .”

So am I better off sticking to the Bible? What if I choose to only live by the Bible, what will happen?
Since you keep editing your posts to add things, I will respond again. This is getting rather frustrating to be honest.

If you live by ONLY what the Bible says, you will be as a person living on ONLY bread. You can survive, and hold your own, but you won’t have a very full life. And thats assuming you can properly understand scripture by using ONLY the bible. People forget that the bible wasn’t written in a vacuum. Take for example, the epistles. They were written as letters TO A PERSON OR CONGREGATION, and should be read as such.

Trying to make all decisions on faith based ONLY On what you read in scripture will be hard because you need to understand context. If you study enough regarding context and live by ONLY what is in the bible, then you will be as a man eating only bread or drinking only milk. You will survive, but only just.

There are so many things the bible doesn’t talk about directly. Trinity is never mentioned. Look it up. Not in there. Order for worship services aren’t in there, what happened when Jesus was a teenager isn’t in there. DOes that mean he was never a teen? THe bible doesn’t talk about suicide at all either. Is it right or wrong? Scripture NEVER SAYS. We rely on tradition for that, and tradition teaches that it is WRONG. How often should we take communion? Once a week? Daily? Monthly? Once a lifetime?

Why now is it okay to make the Word of God null and void? God’s Law does not change. Christ had a sinful nature, but lived a perfect life. He lived by the Word, He is the Word. Are you saying the Word isn’t enough?
Nobody said the Word was null and void. On the contrary, the post you were quoting said that Scripture was important. Of course the Word of God is enough - He’s Jesus Christ. The Bible’s just one of the ways that he has revealed Himself to us.
Why is the pope referred to as Lord God?
As we’ve explained - he’s not. So maybe somebody once or twice referred to the Pope that way. But that’s not a title of the Pope. Period. I’d guess that fewer than 5 of the 1 billion Catholics in the world would ever refer to the Pope that way.
Is it in the Bible?
Not everything is, no. As I’ve explained, Sacred Scripture and Sacred Tradition go hand in hand, as interpreted by the Magisterium.
Lets put the Bible first, and everything else aside.
Nope. Can’t do that. Christ first. But here’s some Scripture for you:

I Timothy 3:15: But if I am delayed, I write so that you may know how you ought to conduct yourself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth.
(the Church is the pillar of the truth. Not the Bible, although the Bible is true.)

II Thessalonians 2:15: Therefore, brethren, stand fast and hold the traditions which you were taught, whether by word or our epistle.
(Note the importance of traditions passed on by word of mouth, in addition to writings.)

II Peter 1:20: …that no prophecy of Scripture is of any private interpretation…"

Dear TS, the issue is your own topic, must we remind you? You’re the one who came up with a bunch of fake ‘quotes’ supposedly showing that Catholics worshipped the Pope and that the Pope thought he was god. . .and you were wrong.

Since the entire premise of your post is based on false information (wherever DID you find it? You’ve never answered. . .) then either concede and start up a separate thread on ‘sticking to the Bible’ with** accurate information about Catholics instead of falsehoods**. . .or keep right on ignoring your own errors and hoping to redirect the topic to your liking. But if you do, don’t expect that because you’re ignoring your errors, that we will do the same.

II Thessalonians 2:15: Therefore, brethren, stand fast and hold the traditions which you were taught, whether by word or our epistle.
(Note the importance of traditions passed on by word of mouth, in addition to writings.)
HAHA!!! I was looking everywhere for that verse, but I forgot the address! THANKS FOR POSTING THAT!!👍👍

Okay I got one.

There are numerous quotes/books that can be found where higher up members of your faith is in complete opposition to the Bible. (its up to you to search it) The Bible speaks of these things happening.

Some of the commandments have even been twisted by the catholic church. (just search it) When God plainly said His Law does not change. Why was this done? Are you saying that God is perfect but His Law isn’t good enough? So man should add on or change it right? Wrong…

You have accused me of getting false material but you have failed to use the Bible to prove your beliefs to be biblical.

How can you go to Heaven when you don’t think God’s Law is good enough and the only thing we need?

Why do you only use the Bible when it is beneficial to you? When it’s not, you refer to something else.

Matthew 15:2,3 Why do thy disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? for they wash not their hands when they eat bread. But he answered and said unto them, Why do ye also transgress the commandment of God by your tradition?

says who?
Scripture, interestingly enough.

From Acts 8, the Ethiopian eunuch story:
Then Philip ran up to the chariot and heard the man reading Isaiah the prophet. “Do you understand what you are reading?” Philip asked.
31"How can I," he said, “unless someone explains it to me?” So he invited Philip to come up and sit with him.
34The eunuch asked Philip, “Tell me, please, who is the prophet talking about, himself or someone else?” 35Then Philip began with that very passage of Scripture and told him the good news about Jesus.
And again: II Peter 1:20: …that no prophecy of Scripture is of any private interpretation…"

Christ is the Word. Here’s some scripture for you.

John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

John 1:14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth

If you want to know about you “traditions” read Matthew 15:2,3

I also posted it previously

I tell you what…

It is getting difficult to respond to two and three people at a time. So how about I talk to each person individually through pm. That way, no post will be missed or misread. We can take our time and have a good discussion about God. Who’s first?

If you’re going to make such bold statements about the Catholic Church, it’s up to you to back them up with evidence. If I wanted to accuse you of a crime, I wouldn’t call a policeman and say, “Truth did something bad! It’s up to you to figure it out and prove what it was!” Makes no sense.

We have used Scripture. You have failed to directly respond to it, except by quoting more verses and saying we’re wrong.

Okay, I’ve read the verses. What’s your point? Could you actually give a response to the verses I posted, with commentary?

Why would you not put the Bible first when the Bible clearly says the Christ IS the WORD. The WORD was made FLESH. Christ= the Word, Bible, and so on. He is above any catholic book.
