Sick Migrants Undergoing Lifesaving Care Can Now Be Deported

I support immediate life saving care, but I don’t support providing perpetual care for everyone who shows up illegally.

Our responsibility would be to provide his/her care givers back home with the knowledge to continue perpetual care.
See, in this sense, what she is getting is special treatment that certainly isn’t in Guatemala. It is hardly anywhere.

The facility is in Northern California and one of the few places with it.
The Concord resident has endured weekly, daylong infusions, multiple surgeries and even paralysis in a protracted, courageous fight to beat mucopolysaccharidoses, an enzymatic disorder that ravages a person’s central nervous system as well as bones, heart and lungs.

And she’s done all that while working to graduate from California State University East Bay with honors and advocating for others who struggle with rare diseases.

Now the 24-year-old faces another major battle — the threat of being deported. And because the treatment she has been receiving at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital in Oakland isn’t available in Guatemala, deportation could be tantamount to a death sentence.
Per the Mercury story I posted above.

And they didn’t apply for citizenship, that is so. Still, it’s hard to just turn her out in the cold in this case. She has been here, for a long time from what I understand.

Her treatment sounds very specialized as if a few places in the world do it.

I might see about writing my congressperson, the administration, something. A justice system should have mercy in it as well.

I’d be delighted if her local community sponsored her to stay, and covered her ongoing medical care. I’d be delighted if a medical facility in her home learned to care for her, it’s certainly doable or for them or even for the US doctors to provide remote support. We are in the internet age.

I don’t think this should be forced on the Govt tab though, their responsibility is to care for US citizens and they are falling short with the funds they have.

Where does the Church define pro-life?
I know non-negotiables are laid out so take them or leave them.

CCC 2258: " Human life is sacred because from its beginning it involves the creative action of God and it remains for ever in a special relationship with the Creator, who is its sole end. God alone is the Lord of life from its beginning until its end: no one can under any circumstance claim for himself the right directly to destroy an innocent human being."
CCC 2261: “…The deliberate murder of an innocent person is gravely contrary to the dignity of the human being…”

CCC 2270: “Human life must be respected and protected absolutely from the moment of conception. From the first moment of his existence, a human being must be recognized as having the rights of a person - among which is the inviolable right of every innocent being to life.”

I will go from the Magisterium and not accept whatever someone claims is pro-life at least, in view of the church.

You can have pro-choicers claiming they are pro-life with these kinds of cynical views.

And certainly, with so many that suffer in the USA under the acts of illegal immigrants, those people that are for such lenient immigration law should be questioned too.

I believe Magisterium documents clearly state abortion while I’m not so sure if they do with these other matters.

Then it would seem that in this particular case that deporting her isn’t the right thing to do considering her medical condition.

Well, I said that it is highly unlikely per one article I posted that the upper echelon of the government probably doesn’t know of this situation at this point.

Cars kill, bikes kill, cell phones kill. Cigarettes kill. Where do we draw the line.

I hope the government looks into this but at the same time, I think it is wrongful to blame some people who may not have any direct involvement other than enforcing the laws of our nation.

To not obey the law, not enforce it seems wrong too, we are on a case by case basis here in a system that is flooded.

Oh, and where does the Bible say Trinity?

President Bill Clinton apologized for perceived wrongs to the country of Guatemala and then, he ordered some Guatemalans deported saying laws are laws.

Not the same situation but there are a few parallels.

Actually, the OP may have engaged very early on in

Whataboutism per their definition of pro-life, I will go with what the church says, the five non-negotiables lays it out well.

So first brings up the whataboutism per pro-life , seens to post antiTrump article and then tells me something about ignoring one’s point.

Furthermore, when this is happening at a low level of govt., I would think iy would ne greatly wtong to accuse the highest branch of govt.

I’m not blaming pizza company headquarters if the local branch commits some wrong.

If one is arguing for not respecting or obeying the law, that too is disrespectful to the law.

I’ve searched and it doesn’t appear medical care qualifies one for UN refugee status, unless you are fleeing a natural disaster where services have broken down.

Exceptions can always be made where there is support, but it should not be seen as an obligation for US taxpayers to fund, that would be a huge loophole which would be exploited to gain residency.

Ignoring your whataboutism deflection…
In my opinion one cannot call themselves pro-life if they agree with this.
Looks like the whataboutism is making this now, a pro-life issue is engaging in whataboutism, I’ll like wise ignore that smear about a deflection, the administration and law enforcement are there to do just that.

Therd is no evidence whatsoever, the oval office knows this.

You post only anti-Trump articles from what I’ve seen so if one obviously IGNORES yhose he never posts negative articles on, it is proper in my view, it shows an inconsistency.

Sure, some want to limit the conversation, your way may still see ISIS still reigning, persecuting and killing Christians in the Middle East as happened especially during the last administration through irresponsible actions, enough of this, I just won’t look at anything else but post negative material on Trump.

I would submit if someone us just posting anti-Trump mayerial, they should not be able to hide from a fair conversation, you insulted someone, so be it.

Better than a ruling ISIS caliphate which I think never-Trumpers would have handed us, more violence and that certainly isn’t pro-life either.
Agreed. And, it would be hard to claim being a Christian too.
It is close to breaking the rules if not so to question other’s faith.

Are there any other laws that are ok to break?

This thread has had a very nasty invective and I will speak up when I perceive a wrong. A mere letter was sent out at probably the lowest level of the agency.

I don’t see how someone can be pro-life if they okay breaking the law

Those were not laid out by the Church. The Church has more than five. In fact, no moral issue is “negotiable” according to Pope Francis, which is why we have a voters’ guide, not a slate of candidates. Catholic Answers does great things, but they are not the Magisterium, nor was their guide intend to be for all time. The Church lists 22 issues that are pro-life, at least at this time.

This sounds an awful like “Get your own loaves and fishes!” Would Jesus deport her? If your answer is no, then maybe, perhaps, possibly, we shouldn’t either. If your answer is yes, I’d love to know why you think so.

I have read the original Vatican documents, not just the UCSSB and Catechism and I believe abortion is clearly singled out as a grave wrong. I’d suggest anyone to read those themselves, the true magisterum.

Why should she need to go to Canada.

She was invited to the US by the doctors studying her condition. They were able to develop treatment allowing her to live.

It’s mind boggling for this to be an issue.

She’s not a “bad hombre”

She’s a young woman who is ill. The children in Boston are ill. Why do they have to leave?

Giving care to sick children is the right thing to do.

Ending care to sick children is the wrong thing to do.

It’s not necessary.

Then change the law, don’t tell others your way is the right way and it’s okay to break the law.

She will surely get a fair hearing and I expect those who have made some pretty bad statement to compliment law enforcement.

I also will expect as much compassion when we hear of Americans dying because of an illegal alien.

Fifth commandment, thall shall not kill and that applies to for the rules we have that are suppose to protect Americans from those here illegally, Kate Steinle and everyone else, many who have been killed by drunk drivers as well.

Change the law, Trump did not write them per this ‘bad hombres’ dig.

It might be blood libel, some things said against law enforcement who are trying to protect Americans shameless.

Why don’t those who have such compassion show their grief and respect for life when it’s an American?

And thank you Pres. Trump for helping break the ISIS caliphate, the haters would still have them in full total power committing Genocide against Christians and others.

And that is very, very pro-life.

She wasn’t breaking the law, though. This is a case of the rules being changed mid-stream, with the very real consequence being her death.

NBC Bay Area reached out to ICE who in statement said it simply can’t decide “on a categorical basis to exempt entire groups of aliens from the immigration laws enacted by Congress.”

https://www.bing.com/amp/s/www.nbcbayarea.com%2Fnews%2Flocal%2FChanging-Immigration-Laws-Could-Force-Guatemalan-Woman-to-Lose-Medical-Treatment--558876071.html%3Famp%3Dy

The laws are there, ICE has spoken above, she may get consideration and that is how our system works.

And ICE spoke.

Laws enacted by congess says the article, not by Trump and surely not in the last two years.

Congress seems already working on a bill to correct this as well.

And from tomato tariffs to whatever to pick on the oresident, it seems false compassion to slander, where was this compassion for the death of the soldier in Afghanistan, for the unborn, for Kate Steinle.

Anti-Trumpers, glad the ISIS caliphate is broken, killers of Catholics and no thanks to you.
