I checked out their bulletin. They have a note about the need to be quiet in church out of respect for Jesus’ presence in the Tabernacle and are having TLM’s for All Souls’ Day and the Vigil of the Immaculate Conception. It doesn’t sound like there would be any “liturgical dancing” there.Check this one. Found it on line.

Hello! I did attend on campus at times (at St. Ignatius - not the ones offered in the dorms) but I mostly went home during the weekends and pretty much was only on campus for weekday Holy days. My cousin also went to BC and was married at St. Ignatius. (We’re both '95).I just wanted to say hello and let you know that I’ll be saying prayers that you find a parish home that edifies you. I am also a native Bostonian, Catholic school and B.C. grad (twenty or so years before you!) now living in the deep south. DId you go to St. Ignatius or attend Mass on campus?
Thank heavens, no liturgical dancers here, though the squirmy children on the altar in our parish during the Eucharistic Prayer can be distracting, to say the least!!!
God bless!
I went to a wedding there once. Where I live now, this is only about 1/2 hour awayI checked out their bulletin. Ah! Good point. The “frozen chosen” are supposed to be the Presbyterians (according to a Presbyterian friend).I don’t know which is worse…the irrational exuberance of your parish or the dry, terse, emotionless vacuum that is our parish these days. What a mind-numbing slog it has been of late…There must be a reverent, spiritual, joyful middle ground!

It looks like a pretty church too.I went to a wedding there once. Where I live now, this is only about 1/2 hour away![]()
in a perfect world, there could be a valid mass in a war zone, with bombs exploding with clowns and liturgical dance, music by a rap quartet singing patriotic music, ushers in halloween costumes and sitar trance music playing… while the EMHCs wear unitards and twirl like whirling dirvishes…I see what you mean about and will need to focus on this a bit more. I’m willing to put effort in to find something normal. Honestly, the situation was VERY foreign to me.
I don’t know if this is an attempt at being sarcastic or not when you say “maybe they have some sort of request form so that they could tailor the liturgy to suit your needs a little better” since this was a genuine request for sincere advice. Basically I have not, in my life, been to a Mass like the ones I’ve been to here. I’ve been to dozens of parishes in Boston and none of the priests asked us to get out of the aisles and I’ve never been shaken from a prayer with electric guitars and drums before. Perhaps others are used to Masses like that and maybe my own experiences are not the norm, but it did not feel Catholic. I felt I was in another type of church.
I’m going to talk to my priest in my old parish. Maybe he can be of some guidance as well.
indeed…a good pointas long as the Priest consecrates the host and wine, it IS the Body and Blood of Christ.
In your sarcasm you neglected to observe that by engaging in illicit liturgical practices (dancers) those in charge of these liturgies are engaging in the sin of scandal, leading the faithful towards and perhaps into sin by their public actions. But instead you blame the victim.maybe they have some sort of request form so that they could tailor the liturgy to suit your needs a little better. If you’re so caught up in the music and trappings that you skipped Communion with the Lord, you’re sorely missing the entire point of Mass.
Your anger separates you from Christ. Where do you think that anger originates?
If Good and evil were football teams, and you’ve been handed a play called “so angry at the bad liturgy i’ll avoid God”… which playbook do you think that came from?
Illicit practices which weaken the faith of the people are not minor details, because the faith of the people is not a minor detail. The Eucharist is the everything. everything else is minor details.
I appreciate the support, VociMike. I was hurt by such a nasty response when I was posting only to ask what the more-experienced would suggest as a way to handle it. My post was a plee for help in wanting to be closer to God, not futher away. There is always a bad apple in every bunch so I try to remember that. Most reponses were very helpful, though, and much appreciated. In your sarcasm you neglected to observe that by engaging in illicit liturgical practices (dancers) those in charge of these liturgies are engaging in the sin of scandal, leading the faithful towards and perhaps into sin by their public actions. And you! (Coming to the deep South is quite a culture shock, isn’t it?) At least things here in our archdiocese in AL are fairly sedate and by the book (except for the kids on the altar…)Hello! Nice to meet you!!!
Your post was just a living, breathing instance of the situation Pope Benedict XVI spoke of in Summorum Pontificum: “…in many places celebrations were not faithful to the prescriptions of the new Missal, but the latter actually was understood as authorizing or even requiring creativity, which frequently led to deformations of the liturgy which were hard to bear. I am speaking from experience, since I too lived through that period with all its hopes and its confusion. And I have seen how arbitrary deformations of the liturgy caused deep pain to individuals totally rooted in the faith of the Church.”I appreciate the support, VociMike. I grew up in that Archdiocese, and can say that this does not surprise me. Almost without exception, Masses there were quite dreadful. The felt-banner variety, complete with tambourines, which in my humble opinion have no business coming within 100 yards of Christ’s church. Virtually every priest I encountered was a “spirit of Vatican II” liberal. The sum total of those experiences was one of the factors that led me out of the Church for so long (20+ years).…I went on vacation this summer, and went to a Catholic Church outside of Seattle. Let us just say that I came away with sadness that turned into anger when I actually read their bulletin which spoke out against the Pope’s Motu Proprio. …
