Ironic, this is no doubt true, however Jesus didnt command His followers to force them to Heaven by taking their lives.😦
are you accusing the CC of killing people so they could go to Heaven?

who told you that? as you knowk, if you come here accusing the CC of wrong doing, you will be asked to prove it and show the sources of your information.

blessings.

Your family is in my prayers. Go, be with your family. You all need each other right now.

Im shocked to hear in this thread that the pope has said spreading the gospel is not the priority of the church and Ive been basicly told Im no different than a morman or JW.

Will be praying God Bless.

well if God lets you chose who goes to heaven, then I guess we will be left out:shrug:
No, God has room in heaven for others besides Catholics. My prayers go upwards for your grandson, you and all your family. May God be with all of you.

Hey my friend. You…your grandson and the rest of your family are in my prayers!

So Im taking an easier route to Heaven? Being a Catholic is hard work? really?🤷
Being a Catholic is very hard sometimes. To be selfless and to make sacrifices constantly is not easy. To bite my tongue when I see things that I know to be wrong, things I would never do…

I’m not saying all Catholics think this way, maybe you do -I dont know… But I do try to spend an hour in prayer daily, exercise, eat healthy, etc… All for God! My body is His temple, and my sould needs to be clean.

I confess to a priest my sins, and since I am notoriously shy, this is hard for me. I have to make a lot of sacrifices. :o I also ā€œfastā€ as penance… Like fo lent.

I dont know what it’s like to be a Protestant… I can only guess that life is pretty ā€œnormalā€ ?

Didn’t the Church of the Bible lack land because of the persecutions?
Weren’t the rules minimal because the Church just began and had to be formed, again in the midst of persecutions?

And there was a hierarchy. The 12 were appointed by Christ Himself. Scriptures show the necessity to fill the offices of bishop if they were vacated, so there was a succession. Paul told of the imposition of hands. And he taught that they came together for the Lord’s Supper and taught that they had to discern the body and blood of Christ, lest they risk judgement.

1Co 12:28 And God indeed hath set some in the church; first apostles, secondly prophets, thirdly doctors: after that miracles: then the graces of healings, helps, governments, kinds of tongues, interpretations of speeches.

Looks like God indeed hath set a hierarchy.

the OP didn’t ask why. The OP want to be shown how Protestant denominations can be like the early church.

Yes, and I explained the differences between what you described, of your Church today, and the persecutions against Christians, as well as what is in the Bible about the early Church

Hi Redbert, your religion says you worship Christ at UMC. I thought UMC had a hierarchy, ie, bishops. Maybe I’m mistaken though.

Jesus said: behold the Kingdom of God is at hand."

does your congregation looks like a Kingdom? what does a Kingdom look like? do you know? it has to look like the Kingdom of David.

Peace.

From Wiki, so I don’t know how accurate it is…

The church is decentralized with the General Conference being the official governing body. However, administratively the church has a governing structure that is similar to that of the United States government:
General Conference—The legislative branch that makes all decisions as to doctrine and polity.
Council of Bishops—The executive branch consisting of all active and retired bishops that meets twice a year. According to the Book of Discipline 2000, ā€œThe Church expects the Council of Bishops to speak to the Church and from the Church to the world, and to give leadership in the quest for Christian unity and interreligious relationships.ā€[76] The council is presided over by a President who serves a two-year term. The President has no official authority beyond presiding. Administrative work is handled by the secretary of the council.[77]
Judicial Council—The judicial branch consisting of nine persons elected by the General Conference to rule on questions of constitutionality in church law and practice.[78]

I was wondering about that myself…we most certainly do have these things. 🤷
But glad to have you anyway 😃

I rare slip up by Redbert: I was wrongly focusing on the issues in my own congregation (as that is what I thought the post meant) and not the whole world wide UMC denomination.

It won’t happen again

Didn’t the Church of the Bible lack land because of the persecutions? ** Or was it because they sold all they had to be distributed to those that were in need. They met in homes.**

Weren’t the rules minimal because the Church just began and had to be formed, again in the midst of persecutions? **The OT ā€˜church’ gave a lot of rules. How’d that work? ** (note I put OT church in quotes - I know there’s no OT church.)

1Co 12:28 And God indeed hath set some in the church; first apostles, secondly prophets, thirdly doctors: after that miracles: then the graces of healings, helps, governments, kinds of tongues, interpretations of speeches. Isn’t the THIRD: doctors better translated ā€˜teachers’?

Looks like God indeed hath set a hierarchy.
