It doesn’t have to we know that personhood comes at conception and destruction of that is murder. Your right there is no purgatory. 👍
You can’t defend the position that the Bible speaks of embryonic stem cell research being murder then.

Unless you can find the words “embryonic stem cell research” in the Bible.

Remember, if you ever bring up the fact that the word “purgatory” is not in the Bible, you’ll have to keep this little thought in the back of your mind, also, jericho.

Not that I had any idea about anything outside the cc. But I do now.
Really?

Here’s 2 simple catechectical questions for you. Don’t search google for the answers, if you have any integrity, and put your money where your mouth is.

-where in the Mass is Scripture proclaimed?
-what is the Immaculate Conception?

Incidentally, are there any errors in the canon of Scripture? That is, do you think that Revelation ought not be part of the Bible? Do you believe that the Shepherd of Hermes should?

And how do you know what belongs in Scripture and what doesn’t?

Remember, one cannot answer this question with the nonsensical: I know it’s inspired because it’s in the bible; and I know it’s in the bible because it’s inspired.
God has chosen 66 books for the bible. It’s not up to me to argue with that.

Because you do somthing correctly doesn’t make you infallible.
So St. Paul, in all of his epistles, is just “doing something correctly?”
And St. Matthew, too?
And St. Mark?
And St. Luke?

That’s a lot of “doing something correctly”.

And even when you’re inspired by the Holy Spirit you’re just “doing something correctly”?

God has chosen 66 books for the bible. It’s not up to me to argue with that.
Exactly.

It is because of the Catholic Church that you know what’s inspired (give or take 7 books, of course).

God used the Catholic Church, and* you submit to its authority each and every time you quote a verse from the Bible.*

I’m confused “embryonic stem cell research” is the destruction of a fertilized embryo which according to the bible is a person. How is that not clearly covered by revealed scripture. Are you telling me that only because the cc declares so it is.

I’m hurt what do you think I am. Do you think i was not catholic? According to the cc the last supper and Mary being conceived without sin.

Being a later comer to this conversation, I would like to ask what your definition of Sola Scriptura is? I know it means scripture alone is final authority but can you elaborate on what that means in practice? Doesn’t that mean if a teaching or practice is not found in scripture than you are not bound to that teaching or practice?

Jeff

You are looking at this all wrong. You are so focused on human infallibility thinking it is us doing something. It is all God for His Glory. To be infallible implies Divine perfection. Remember there is none righteous no not one.

So the Jews had no part in choosing the OT? It is not the cc’s bible it is Gods’ word. It was His word BEFORE the cc said so.

Do you have an example in mind?

Show me where “embryonic stem cell research” is in the Bible.

Now, your reasonings that it’s implicit in Scripture are correct, and very Catholic.

Just like this:

The word “purgatory” is not in the bible.

But reasonings for it are implicitly found there.

Do you have an example in mind?
Nope I don’t. I assumed that since you believe in sola scriptura, you would at least know what it is.

Doesn’t that mean if a teaching or practice is not found in scripture than you are not bound to that teaching or practice?

Of course I believe you were Catholic.

You were just a very poorly catechized Catholic, as shown below (and in your previous posts.)
According to the cc the last supper
No, jericho. The question is where do we recite Scripture in the Mass?
and Mary being conceived without sin.
And what does this mean? That Mary conceived Jesus while a perpetual virgin?

So the Jews had no part in choosing the OT? It is not the cc’s bible it is Gods’ word. It was His word BEFORE the cc said so.
The Jews had no consensus on what was Scripture. Unless you can provide a citation for when they met and discerned what was considered to be inspired. Please cite a reference for place and date and provide the list that they concluded.

And even if they had, why would we submit to their authority?

To be infallible implies Divine perfection.
Then you do not understand the Catholic Church’s meaning of infallibility. (Again, due to your poor catechesis. Not your fault, most likely).

Infallibility means unable to teach error in the areas of faith and morals. It has nothing to do with Divine Perfection. Of course, only Christ has achieved Divine Perfection.

Murder is in the bible, purgatory is not.

I believe this is so.
