Some Catholic bloggers are calling out other Catholics on their actions (or should I say faith)

I saw it…and thought there’s a really good way to alienate people.
 
Wow…I sure hope they use Catholic charity in a call for change. Otherwise how can they be different then the liberals in the 70’s calling for change?

Well at least it’s good Michael Voris still recognizes those they disagree with are still Catholics. And when confronted with how the appearance of their work looks to be driven by politics and their dislike of President Barack Obama based on many of the posts, the conservatives at least admit it is the single issue of abortion which drives this.

I don’t think so. And certainly blogs by such Catholics are not new. I think the article is claiming there is a new “breed” of Catholic blogging which is snarky and vitriolic, and which fails to be charitable in the criticisms which are raised.
 
I don’t really know what to make of those bloggers - are they vigilantes? Will what might be a good thing at first sight - defense of the faith? - lead to disobedience and disrespect to our priests, bishops and even the Pope?

I am keeping an open mind and look forward to hearing more about these bloggers although ‘conservative’ I understand that they are not all of one mind.

Did you even read the Olson article? He was criticizing the AP article, not other Catholic bloggers. Carl Olson is a respected published Catholic author, not some random blogger.

Comment: I haven’t seen any of these “Taliban” sources who have expressed disloyalty to the Holy See in general, the Holy Father specifically, or to bishops who are faithful to the Magesterium. I have seen quite a bit of talk about dissenters. And, well, a bright light being shone on an object does tend to generate a bit of heat.

He makes great points! Until the age of the internet, those who have tried to defend the Faith have not had the ability to reach the vast numbers of like minded Catholics globally to bring the issues to light. This really is not new news - it is old news in a new age. There have been and always will be those who will fight for the Fullness of Truth, and demand that those who serve us through Holy Mother Church LIVE and LEAD by the Truth. Not just some of it, but all of it, and with no apologies.

it’s great to see catholics standing up for the faith. it’s according to the article that it’s driven by the single issue of abortion that doesn’t ring true. all depends on the way you ask a question. cmatt25 do you think hell is a catholic free zone.
i think anybody who reads the posts here regularly can see there is definatly a new wave of catholic conservatives speaking out in numbers

I have been following ReatCatholicTV for a while now, and I’ve yet to hear Michael or any of the staff say anything that would go against the Church. Yes, he criticizes those in power who have led many into dissent or have done nothing to combat the culture of death. But many times he has given praise and shown examples of good Bishops and priest who speak out and are not afraid. Thought I don’t always agree on every opinion or some of his style of expressing it, nevertheless he makes good points that drive home.

I would not get to emotional about this. These people are simply proclaiming the Truth as revealed from God and His 5000 yr old documents from he Bible. Today’s secularist religion has only been around for about 50 years. If someone wants to believe a 50 yr. old belief system vs 5000 yr. old teaching and the big picture of each that is the persons free will. Being faithful to all of God’s teachings is what Catholics in full Communion with His Church are called to do. Our mission is not to fix the world in the Short 70-90yrs we are here, but to save souls.

Some lost souls are in such pain and have such cold and closed hearts they simply reject the Eternal Truths and falsely claim lack of charity, but remember, like Fr. John Corapi says, “It is not Charitable to condone one sins”.

I was listing to ETWN on Sirius radio a couple of days ago. Mother Angelica was talking about her decision to wear the habit and that it makes some people angry. She said “As a Christian you should be making some people angry! If you are not making people angry, I question your Christianity!”

I agree that the ‘new’ breed of bloggers is only new in the medium that they are using. Voices crying for fidelity to Rome are not new at all.

If some of these voices get strident and ‘snarky’…well that is the human element creeping in. Not everyone has patience accompanying perseverance in the same measure! It gets tiring being snubbed, lied about, blamed and whatever, for simply doing what is right.

I think Michael Voris’s work, so far anyway, is great. He says what he thinks. He gives both credit and criticism where they are due, and he can back up what he says with Church teaching, which is probably most important. Speaking strongly and truly is not a sin.

Never heard of him, know nothing of his credentials, just another blogger to me.
