Some Catholic bloggers are calling out other Catholics on their actions (or should I say faith)

I know what you are trying to say…I don’t necessarily disagree. However people’s version of truth can be very different…and still within Church teaching. But there are those who still think it’s wrong and not conservative enough. And they honestly think they are speaking the “truth”. So…this is where the danger lies.

I’m not necessarily talking about something that everyone agrees is Church teaching…such as pro-life. But what about Catholics who take CITH? There are those people that would say…“you are not living your faith correctly”…and may even think they are being charitable. I speak from experience…having had people comment on things like that to me…😦
Annabelle Marie, do you own a Catechism? If not I would ask you to get one or just access it on the Vatican website Click here

The answers to all of your questions are here. This is where the truth lies. You keep referring to “there are those who say”, well the answer to their challenges to the faith are in the Catechism. Look it up.

I think you are missing the point somewhat. So…some blogger decides that a priest did something improper…maybe without even asking him about it. So, he goes on and blogges about it? That is Catholic charity? Sure…maybe it was a legitimate abuse…maybe not. Maybe it’s something such as…they used 4 EMHC’s and they should have used 2…in that bloggers opinion. The Church has set up a proper system to deal with this…and I’m pretty dang sure it isn’t blogging about it.

Maybe I missed YOUR point, however, MY point was that your posts keep questioning issues that are directly answered and explained in the Catechism. And, you did not answer my question.

There you are using Catholic Charity as an excuse to avoid truth again. Please go back to the post on Charity in Truth and read “Caritas in Veritate”.

Gosh we seem to get going around in circles…This is the way I see it.
  1. There are Catholics that will tell their brother/sister in Christ the truth in charity and love…just as Fr. Corapi says. And Truth based off of Catholic teaching only on subjects. I have no problem with this.
  2. There are Catholics that hold to ideals on what they personally believe… Such as women should always wear headcoverings or we should not have the NO…things that are not as clearly addressed by the Catholic church but the church does allow them. My concern is that some of these people can be VERY addiment that they are right and everyone should follow in line. But some of them can be extremely uncharitable with their belief that they are right. It’s this type that I worry about with bloggers…especially taking it to the exteme by searching through documents, etc… It’s very easy to misunderstand someone or not know the whole story…especially with those in leadership.
I hope that explains it clearer?

Has anybody else seen this AP story?

Are Catholics who uphold the teachings of the Church being considered a fringe group? I hope this thread turns out well; this is the first time I included a link in a thread. I wanted to get your thoughts on this article. Thanks and God bless.
No a billion Catholics uphold Church teachings, Catholics United, and Log cabin Catholic republicans which total 10,000 members are Fringe groups. I think these fringe groups and homosexual catholioc groups should get out of catholicism? my point is if a person can’t follow the Rules and Regulations of a Religion,Apartment Complex, a Society, aClub ,or any organisation, DON’T JOIN THEM?

This sounds very much like someone looking for a reason to disregard all legitimate Church doctrine that someone does not happen to agree with; and convince their conscience they are doing the right thing. Again this is called rationalization and is the favorite tool of the devil.

I have seen zero postings or blogs that are addressing minor issues like head coverings. There are far too many serious infractions to be worrying about such trivial things.

That is not the only post that I have encountered like that. **

Yes I know. One must only go to our traditional forum to find all sorts of things about how we should take COTT and not CITH though CITH is allowed. And how Latin is better than the vernacular even though the vernacular makes more sense in being able to understand for many people. And how only such and such of music praises Him and another type does not. Even though He is present regardless of whether it is traditional choir, acoustic guitar, or a “teen Mass” And so on and so on. 🙂
I think you need some spiritual guidance instead of talking so much against the Church of always. your views are very protestant. the Catholic Church cannot do as protestants do.

While I would agree that some of CMatts views are not what the Church teaches…such as about abortion. However, what he has listed in the post that you quoted are not protestant. Otherwise most of the Catholics who attend the NO…are protestant views. CITH, in English, and towards the people is not against current Church teaching. You may not like them but they are within current Church teaching. Now people are free to debate them…but to say someone who takes CITH and attends the NO has a protestant view is wrong…and proves my very point about the bloggers. It’s hard to undo the damage. Much like some of the priest that have been falsly accused of abuse. Even though its proven they did nothing…by that time it’s too late…the damage has been done.

But I am going to assume that you were talking about CMatt’s view on concrete church teaching like abortion and failed to mention it.

The issue with blogers and forumn sites weather progressive, liberal, conservative or traditional is that it is a form of a circular firing squad. All are suffering from a hudge bought of individualism in which my way is the only way that is right and I am going to complain until I get my way. It reminds me of the apostles James and John who were arguging who was going to sit at th right hand of Jesus in Heaven.
The truth is in following the teachings as given by the sheperds of the Church our Bishops and their assistances, preist and deacons. All sides have some valid possitions, and depending on which bishop one might listen to at any time, those issues may be addressed. Our leaders are always looking at the most pastoral way of meeting the needs of the faithful in the Church’s social concerns and in the liturgy. We are a world side Church which has to meet billions of individual needs. The needs is developed countries are far different than those in tribal Africa. The challenges are just as vast.
There are real issues that need to be addressed outside of the Church. Christ did not say come and pray inside the church and all will be solved, He istead gave us the command, the command to go into the world and build the Kingdom of God on earth with all our brothers and sisters.
The reason why the Kingdom of God is like the tree from the mustard seed is that it provides shetler for birds of all kinds, not just a few.

you might think headcoverings is a minor issue, (trivial)?but here in Buffalo.ny at St. Anthony Church all little girls to adult women during the English,Italian ,and Latin Masses wear Head coverings, and little boys to Adult men Wear suits. I enjoy going to Mass at my Church ,and its not trivial? its RESPECT, IN THE COMPANY OF GOD

It certainly is trivial as compared to following the MORAL teachings of the Church. This is the problem the the pro abortion catholics have, they seem to have trouble separating intrinsic evil (mortal sin) from venial sin.

I don’t think that it’s as simple as that. It is not an “avoidance” of truth that is the issue. It’s the scandal, IMO, that is caused when a sin is exposed to the world. When a Catholic apostolate intentionally seeks to “expose the treachery” of bishops, then that’s a problem.

Quite often, those who enthusiastically want to “expose treachery” usually have something from their own past that is unresolved; otherwise, they would not put so much effort into expose the treachery, or sins, of others.

It’s just not a saintly thing to do.

A new breed of theological conservatives has taken to blogs and YouTube to say the church isn’t Catholic enough.
AHA

YEAH!

thats me…I’m on about…6-7 different social sites. I wouldn’t go so far as to say I was a ‘theologian’, certainly not at par with the likes of ‘Real Catholic TV’ or anything…But I’m out there, being a STRONG WITNESS please believe it-

I just happen to have 3-4 hours a day to kill, and I have this, DEEP, PRESSING feeling like, what I should be doing with my time is this…networking. Being a witness where people are, and people are online. Don’t get me wrong, when I log off and go about my day- I’m still in that mindframe, but, I’ve really taken to task at making sure I put some work in every day, spreading the TRUTH. He’s strengthening the Church…I KNOW IT. Change is in the works…

Now reading back at comments, and even the one that I posted-

I just want to say I never make it a point to ‘call out’ or ‘seek out’ people of the faith that aren’t catholic enough, or anything like that…

But if I see someone lying about our church, I call em’ out and present the truth. If I see someone smearing our church, I defend it. If someone starts a thread about an unwanted child, I offer good advice, preach LIFE…Its always about the TRUTH, about us, our church, our teachings…

Head covering may be a tradition now in some areas, but the practice was in error as translated from Paul’s letter.
The city of Cornith was a center for one of the greek goddess of love. His warning to the women of the church was a call for modesty, so they would not be identifed with the prostetutes who used their long hair to entice men.
It was not ment to mean humility to the Lord. The warning to both women and men was that they were to prsent themselves differntly in the eyes of the world and to follow a differnent path than the rest of world. It is the lesson we need to learn.

Is this the gospel according to Denise?

Though this is going a bit off-topic, I wanted to mention that the wearing of head coverings by women at Mass, whether it’s a hat, scarf, or veil, has nothing to do with modesty. A traditional priest explained it once, saying that it has to do with Eve’s disobedience, and as a sign of obedience and respect for God, we women should wear a head covering.

However, my understanding is that it is not binding that women have to wear a head covering; it’s an option.

As I said, a misinterpetation of scripture. What the priest said was not St. Paul’s intent.
If you want to were one out of tradition, that’s your choice, but there are no Church instructions to require such.
