Hey NYDAS - thanks for serving. 👍

I’ve watched you get questioned on this thread for no good reason. Do not feel obligated to answer 20 questions here from people who do not, cannot or will not see any other views but their own.

Stay safe;)
including yours 😃

He gave the same answer he has given anyone who stuck his nose into his private family life.

Bush just doesn’t get it. Webb served, saw combat and was wounded. The same or worse could happen to his son. He is very rightly protective of his son and his son’s privacy.

Also, the tactless words used were, “How’s your boy?” (used twice)

If the, if the first time you meet someone they started with that, no “hello” no “welcome to DC” nothing, just “how’s your boy” and would not accept your first answer, they obviously have no class.
I think some should read Judith Martin - Ms. Manners - it’s just as rude to point out someone’s rudeness. 😉

Let’s adjust the scenario and go back in time. James Webb is Sec of Navy under Reagan. He is hosting something and he greets a subordinate. He asks the sub how his son is doing in XXX land, someplace w/ combat and danger. The sub replies w/ Senator elect Webbs answer. What would be the outcome?

Probably the same 👍

If you are in the military you volunteered. We do not have a draft. Webb’s son volunteered. If the president’s children volunteer then they should take their chances of being sent into combat just like everybody else, except if they did how would the secret service protect them?
What did they volunteer for? Do you think one says to oneself one morning, “Gee, I think I’ll volunteer so I can invade a sovereign nation under false pretenses”

I always laugh more at the ones that go:
“Gee, I volunteered for the MILITARY and you expect me to go to be involved in combat?”

It is conceivable that some do. I doubt if those applications make it through the first review.

As for the reasons for invading a sovereign nation: those reasons are really not relevant to enlisted personnel. I believe there is a chain of command in the armed forces.

This seems rather a harsh condemnation of points of view which may differ from those of the OP.

I have no reason to lie.

Here is proof if you really wanted:

Pictures I’ve taken from Kuwait and Iraq

Thats me in uniform:

Nice pictures. Some of the landscape there looks like places in Eastern Oregon and northern Nevada; not any mountains in the distance though. I guess desserts look pretty much the same everywhere.

My niece is in the Army; she flies Blackhawk Medivac choppers. However, she has asked that we in her family refrain from saying in public forums where she has been posted. She is not permitted to be involved in online forums at all. But then she is an officer. My brother-in-law an Air Force Colonel and he is stationed abroad. We do not know exactly what he does.

I will pray for all the soldiers in those photographs.
