Source: Trump still not grasping the severity of the pandemic

President Donald Trump was still struggling to fully grasp the severity of the coronavirus pandemic during a task force meeting in the Oval Office on Tuesday, a source familiar with the meeting told CNN.

“He still doesn’t get it,” the source said. “He does not get it.”

Trump’s meeting with the task force in the Oval Office was his first in-depth meeting with the panel of his top health experts since April. Trump tweeted photos of the task force members, some wearing face masks, surrounding the Resolute Desk Tuesday afternoon.

During the meeting, officials on the task force continued to have trouble convincing Trump to take the pandemic more seriously, the source said.

As some members of the task force tried to stress the dire nature of the situation to the President, the source said Trump repeatedly attempted to change the subject.

The usual CNN fakery. The only basis for this bogus story is, according to CNN: " a source familiar with the meeting". That means the “source” wasn’t even there.

Fake all the way.
 
It may be true, but I would sincerely hope that critical consumers of information could see through the “source” reference. That “source” could be one of their staff editorializing.
 
Darn that CNN…or anyone in and outside the administration who doubts POTUS’s word.

I don’t need any “source” to figure this out. His actions and statements confirm that he is neither grasping the situation or dealing with it.

Same as CNN. Don’t need any evidence. Just need one’s own visceral reaction to the man himself.

When you get your Covid19 shot three years before it would otherwise be expected, you’lll likely say the same. No anti-Trumpers need facts in order to criticize everything he does.

Today, when discussing children going to school.

“My view is the schools should open,” Trump said. “This thing is going away. It will go away like things go away, and my view is that schools should be open.”

I just can’t.

But, he bragged about remembering “Person, woman, man, camera, TV”.
 
For those that watch normal new, like network news and CNN, it is still critical to know what to ignore. Unnamed sources should always be ignored. This is a non story and totally irrelevant.

On another thread there is an HBO interview where one can listen to the president and decide without CNN telling you if you think he does not grasp the severity of the COVID spread in America. That way you can make up your mind without being told.

Nonetheless, Trump supporters still post faux news three to one on this site. I have muted at least a dozen thread this week so far from blogs and true fake news sites, that is, writers who are openly and blatantly trying to promote Trump’s reelection.

There you go. His idea of what a good education is may be much more simplistic than one who is more educated.

Seems to me this is almost entirely subjective. If I think the schools should remain closed indefinitely and won’t go through a drive-in even if the people wear gloves, and if I quit my job to avoid Covid and if I think every business should be locked down, then I’m necessarily going to think Trump is unduly casual about the Covid hazard. On the other hand, if I think the hazard is limited to the known vulnerable, I am going to think Trump is doing about what he ought to be doing, particularly in ensuring sufficient equipment and providing unprecedented funding for treatments and vaccines. To the extent he is willing to throw another $1 trillion or so at the problem, some would think he’s being excessive about it.

And, of course, there are medical opinions all over the place, including opinions of some that have changed at least once.

Trump can’t win this one except with those who already support him. Those who oppose him will oppose him no matter what he does.

Really? I would suggest it’s the other way around. Look up at the topic of this thread, for instance.
 
I got that. This is one for sure. But like I said, I have already come across a dozen or more this week so far that are ridiculously pro-trump, far more than this is anti-Trump. This is more in line of what FOX does (not counting op-eds like Tucker). Then there is LSN and Breitbart, both of which have been in abundance of late.

You know what, I said 3 to 1 because last time this came up, I counted. I guess anyone who wants can spend that time if they want.
 
I meant to put more educated, especially in the field of education.

This is absolutely true. I’ve seen no cures and no vaccines. It is a virus, and one that spreads readily. It is what it is.

In the meantime, while scientists and researchers are doing everything they can to come with therapeutics and a vaccine, we can take steps to protect the most vulnerable. Young people should go back to work, build herd immunity.

Because it is what it is.
