Source: Trump still not grasping the severity of the pandemic

Of course, the President grasps the severity of covid-19! He has been deling with the pandemic since the end of January, early February. In the beginning, no one knew exactly what we were dealing with - around the world, not just in the United
States. Every leader was trying to grasp what the world could be dealing wirh and how their country would be impacted.

The United State had a robust economy the last 3 years. Low unemployment.
People were beginning to recover from rhe real estate recession and Wall Street
crash of 2008/2009. People were optimistic - then the coronavirus came ashore.

How could President Trump not grasp the severity of covid-19 when he sees not
only what has happened in our country, but around the world!! He is not a dummy!
Granted, his strength is in business, he has no medical background or science
background. He does not have a background in the study of diseases.
So he has had to rely on experts and not all the experts have agreed on
everything!!

Unfortunately, in this election year, one political party has decided to politicize
this pandemic and use it like they did the Mueller investigation and the impechment trial - one more way to skewer President Trump in this election year and be
done with him once and for all!!

It is just sad to see what has become of the democrat party.

Here’s another ridiculous quote from Trump during an interview on July 9 with Chris Wallace: "We’re signing a health-care plan within two weeks, a full and complete health-care plan.” It’s been more than two weeks and Trump still has no health care plan even though his administration is trying to convince the Supreme Court to scrap the Affordable Care Act which would leave millions of people with no health care coverage.
 
Regarding the Topic: He never will grasp it. He’s views everything through the lens of economics.

Some things aren’t fixed no matter how much money you throw at…Why deny him his own lesson in life? Unfortunate the learning curve is happening while occupying the Oval office, however it will be his lesson, long over due and a good one if there were any!~We can pray he gets it.
 
I agree - the pandemic is not something that responds to insults, belittling, or appeals to our worse nature, so he basically just gave up dealing with it.
 
I rarely expect it from anybody.

I’d be fine debating the merits - or lack thereof - of Trump’s pandemic response. But bad journalism is bad journalism, and that’s what we’re getting here.

This comes as no surprise; I’ve long considered CNN the high-fructose corn syrup of “news” media.

Yes, I get the whole anonymous-source thing. It shouldn’t be abused for cheap journalism. They should just be honest and run an op-ed.

If I think the schools should remain closed indefinitely and won’t go through a drive-in even if the people wear gloves, and if I quit my job to avoid Covid and if I think every business should be locked down, then I’m necessarily going to think Trump is unduly casual about the Covid hazard.

I am going to think Trump is doing about what he ought to be doing, particularly in ensuring sufficient equipment and providing unprecedented funding for treatments and vaccines.

He is doing a few things right now, as opposed to earlier on when he did practically everything wrong. But he is still sending mixed messages and undercutting his own pandemic response team.

Nothing. Not sure where this idea came from, but there are currently five vaccines in phase III trials worldwide (only one is American). The three vaccine candidates furthest along in their phase III trials are NOT American (i.e. it is very likely that the first approved vaccine will NOT be developed in the US).

Also, since Trump withdrew us from the WHO we are not participating in their Solidarity testing program - which makes it easier for vaccine candidates to be testing on diverse populations across the world. Our vaccine can only be tested in the US.

If the Trump Administration has affected vaccine development at all, it has been for the worse.

Covid 19 damages one’s organs apparently so that doesn’t sound so far-fetched to me.
 
This makes me crazy.

We tally deaths every year. This year, and it’s only August, there are significantly more deaths than usual.

When all is said and done, I think the numbers are actually worse.

I can’t even do a hypothetical without incurring the penalties of Leaf? I know people who are even more cautious than I described. I imagine you do too. There are going to be a lot of books and course materials bought by all the home schoolers who never did it before. My point was, and you know it, was and is that anybody who is already at an extreme on the “protecting against Covid” spectrum is necessarily going to think Trump is not adequately addressing it. People who don’t hold that view won’t.

Of course, you left out that I consider the view that only the most vulnerable should be protected or that Trump shouldn’t have approved another trillion dollars spent extreme as well.

If I get “two Leaf points” off for stacking the deck, you should get 20 for totally leaving out the rest of what I said.
