While it seems a statistical improbability, the state’s reports have shown all-negative and all-positive test results from labs since it began releasing comprehensive daily coronavirus summaries in mid-March.
 
I’ll keep that in mind the next time somebody here posts that a friend of a family member has COVID.Probably just more gossip

You got your information from your sister.

She got it from her son.

Her son got it from another parent at school.

Who in turn was talking about her friends.

It’s like a game of telephone.

The friends with the positive result could have been fibbing, or victims of a scam.

So I guess there just isn’t the distinct possibility that this was a misstep by the testing site.Never any mistakes,or otherwise?🤨

That might have been because of their signing up, and then leaving before getting tested. This indicates nothing about the majority of people who stay to get tested.
 
Why would they get a notice at all,much less a positive one? I would think if anything it would have been negative,very curious.Imbet this has happened more than anybody knows.🤨

So we have a news article that heavily quotes other people and does not actually provide real facts.
How is this not hearsay as defined above?
 
And the people that got a call about a test they didn’t take are not an authority in what happened?
 
Nope. Maybe to their mothers they are. But I don’t know anything about their reputation, or even who they are. But I can look up the head of a well-known laboratory and I can research their reputation.
 
By the time you heard the story, it had passed 4 or 5 people.

That’s how urban legends work.

It’s always like that, 4 or 5 people spread a story that the original story gets obscured and not verified.

Did they get text messages confirming they were positive? If they did, were those actually coming from the testing center? Did they follow up?

Text messages are sent all the time that are scams. I get phone calls weekly that are scams.

My direct experience was completely different with covid testing.

I never received a text message.

I think you are just being stubborn there.
If one receives a call, they know more than anyone about that call.

So if you’re going to claim the source is untrustworthy, just say so.
It certainly can’t be argued with… although it does seem a bit uncharitable.

It is even more uncharitable, then, to disbelieve all the hard working professionals who say that the tests are being reported accurately. You can’t believe everybody when there is a dispute, no matter how charitable you want to be.
