Spanish gays and lesbians will welcome Pope Benedict XVI to their country at the weekend with a massive homosexual kiss-in to be staged in front of Barcelona’s cathedral.

How mature, staging a big protest to stroke their own egos. I hope they know full well that the Pope couldn’t care less about their actions in regard to Church teaching.

Well I’m sure that petulant little display will go a long way to convince the world they should be taken seriously.

Amen to that-just shows that they’re whiny and want to throw a tantrum so they can ‘force’ the Holy Father and the Church to ‘accept’ their immoral ‘lifestyle’.

I wish they’d GET A LIFE! AND REPENT BEFORE THEY RISK THE FIRES OF HELL FOR THEIR SIN!

Sheesh… (I guess I’m kind of a crabby mood today)

Bill Maher will probably show it. And Joy Behar almost certainly will. Oy Vey.

Embarassing. 😊

I’m glad Benedict will stand firm on this one. 👍

I hope the Pope’s address is late afternoon, that way they will all have coarse 5 O’Clock stubble when they kiss (ouch!)

 How very mature 😛

I think that these men and women are just wasting their own time. The teaching of the Catholic Church is not going to be changed any time soon, especially if they put on this kind of immature display which is actually trying to be offensive to the Pope.

I seriously doubt that, as many here have suggested, their objective is to change the Church or Pope’s mind about homosexuality. It strikes me more as an attempt to cast the Church’s teaching as outdated, or at least irrelevant to the homosexual community, and perhaps to convince others, non-Catholics and Catholics alike, that maybe it should be irrelevant to them as well.

I think it’s a good idea, and certainly more original and more likely to draw attention than waving signs and shouting, tactics that the organizers of the event have requested not be used.

If they felt the Church is irrelevant they would not feel a need to protest. You are correct in one thing and that is of the Church’s teachings are outdated and have been from the day Jesus founded the Church.

Sorry, I wasn’t quite clear I don’t think. I meant relevant to them directly. Obviously (and unfortunately, from many perspectives), the Church’s position is not irrelevant to many people, and its indirect influence on laws and social conventions stands in opposition to their goals.

Their protest puts the Church in visual juxtaposition to a bunch of happy kissing couples, and might bring up the question in some peoples’ minds: “Hey, why should the Church get to tell these people they shouldn’t be happy?” Kissing in particular is a good choice for this protest, because it’s an action that everyone associates with love and happiness, as opposed to shouting and waving signs.

You are ridiculous. Kissing is happiness? These people are *happy? *Militant homosexuals are madder than hell, just as many other militant anything are madder than hell. They are doing this to be obnoxious, but then, militant homosexuals are usually obnoxious.

Viewing homosexual behavior does nothing to convince others of the value of their cause. In any case they should be grateful that Queen Isabel isn’t around.

homosexuals, and tneir acvocates will NEVER REPENT , Their Goal , and the goal of pro-abortion catholics is to change the Church into a Moral Sewer. I think its about time for the Pope
and his bishops to Remove the Evils of homosexuality and pro-abortion catholics from Roman Catholicism?

This is one of the reasons our Beloved Pope is going to Spain-in an attempt to save souls from the Fires of Hell:

newsinfo.inquirer.net/breakingnews/world/view/20101106-301773/Pope-fights-to-reclaim-Spain-from-social-change

SANTIAGO DE COMPOSTELA – Pope Benedict XVI lands in Spain Saturday to reclaim a bastion of the Church from the lure of quick divorce, abortion rights and gay marriage…

The Battle for souls once again breaks through the Veil.

God Bless you.
+Jesus, I Trust In You!
Love, Dawn

You’re joking. Homosexuals and pro-abortion people are on two different spectra.

Homosexuals have an attraction towards members of the same sex. They may or may not act on it, and a large majority of gay Catholics do NOT act on it.

Pro-abortion people support the murder of babies (note, I said “pro-abortion”, meaning these people actually like abortion, so as to quote your words).

It’s ridiculous to compare the two, and even the Catechism states that homosexuals should be treated with kindness and with “no unjust discrimination”. Being gay is not a sin. Homosexual acts are, and most gay Catholics don’t even do this. You can’t be serious when you say “homosexuals will never repent” because being homosexual isn’t a sin and there’s no need for repentance. You can’t be serious when you say “remove the evils of homosexuality” because being gay in and of itself is not an evil.

Sometimes, I wonder about this forum.

Kissing is happiness?
I didn’t say kissing is happiness, I said people associate kissing with love and happiness. I stand by that. What do you associate kissing with?
These people are happy?
Who are you to say they aren’t?
Militant homosexuals are madder than hell, just as many other militant anything are madder than hell.
JW10631;7241617:
You can be madder than hell about a given issue and still be happy. Or are none of the people screaming outside abortion clinics happy? I wouldn’t presume to claim that, no matter how much I disagree with them.
JW10631;7241617:
They are doing this to be obnoxious, but then, militant homosexuals are usually obnoxious.
Militant anythings are obnoxious to the people they’re opposed to. That’s kind of the point. If they weren’t obnoxious to you, they’d be doing something wrong.

The church rightly rejects the use of anyterm other than pro-abortion to describe people who believe abortion should be legal. Tying infanticide up in nice little ribbons and euphemisms does not change the abject evil being supported by those who directly support abortion either by their action or their votes.

People who support abortion should also be treated with kindness and no unjust discrimination as should all.sinners.

It is important make a difference between same-sex attraction and homosexual behavior. Although both are didordered the former is not a sin in itself. When you use the term gay or homosexual most people assume you are talking about people who engage in homosexual behavior. If you aretalking about people who are afflicted with same-sex attraction you should say so and you will find much, much more agreement to your comments than you do now as many of us are misunderstanding just what it is you are defending.

It is difficult for many people the first time they run across unapologetic defense of the teachings of the church.

None if it mattered after all.😉
I watched the EWTN broadcast and there wasn’t a peep seen or heard of the gay community there in Barcelona.
btw, the basilica is amazing!!!👍

EWTN is missing something then:
Here.
And here.

EDIT: Not that it was a massive protest, obviously. Just pointing out that if EWTN actually said that the gay community wasn’t present, they were incorrect.
