The article quotes one of the scientists that his group is aware that systematic error could account for the finding. Their results are being published in the hopes that other experiments will achieve the same results. Perhaps it could also be said that if the results can not be reproduced by others, that too has important value.

Reproducibility is key to the scientific method.
 
I am not surprised. As a substitute teacher, I have put information into a 9th-grader’s right ear, and I have seen it leave the left ear before I put it in the right ear.
 
perhaps connected to this and equally interesting (in my humble opinion) is the fact that just over a year ago, some scientists somewhere (i read about it in *science news *magazine) were able to “freeze” a photon of light in a laboratory, and the fact that scientists a few years ago were able to “teleport” a photon of light across a miniscule microscopic distance.

i do not know much at all about physics (my high school physics teacher was a football coach and in college i earned a b- in physics one and never bothered taking the second course in the year-long sequence), so i do not understand what any of this implies in terms of things like time travel, interstellar space flight, etc, but it all just goes to show that science is always evolving, and that christians should be careful what they believe. just because scientists say something, like that light-speed is the speed limit of the universe, which they claimed for decades and which now appears to be untrue, does not necessarily mean it is true.

As regards being careful what we believe, Christians simply need to believe in Christ Jesus, follow Him to the best of their ability in Love for God and neighbor. If we do that, then the rest is just details.

As to your comment about the speed of light bolded above, it is important to note that a Law of Physics can be applicable to one group and not to another. The ability of a sub-atomic particle to do something we can’t do doesn’t change our ability and thus does not change the “law” as it applies to us.

Not trying to dismiss or argue your point, merely offering some clarification.

There are some that never conceded the speed of light limit.

The implications are very very interesting…

I don’t think I’ve seen anyone question that global warming is actually occurring. The real question is whether Man plays a part in causing global warming, and if so, to what extent?

Actually the fastest speed on record is the time between when the light turns green and the guy behind you honks.

The scientists basically have this: they measured something that flies in the face of what they believe to be the rules of the universe. They have likely checked every thinkable possible source of error to explain it and come up short. They have therefore sought independent verification. If people who question global warming conducted their work in this way, that would be perfectly acceptable to the scientific community. Instead, deniers try to discredit the work of climate scientists while producing nothing useful themselves.

In other words, it is fine to question even well established theories but you better back up your objections with data.

Thank you. Sometimes some miss what the actual point of contention is.

It’s not that the earth is warming. It is.
It’s the reason behind why it’s warming is what causes disputes.
