PRAYER TO ST. MONICA

Dear St. Monica,
troubled wife and mother,
many sorrows pierced your heart during your lifetime.
Yet, you never despaired or lost faith.
With confidence, persistence, and profound faith,
you prayed daily for the conversion
of your beloved husband, Patricius,
and your beloved son, Augustine;
your prayers were answered.
Grant me that same fortitude, patience,
and trust in the Lord.
Intercede for me, dear St. Monica,
that God may favorably hear my plea for
the conversion and salvation for all my children
and grandchildren.

and grant me the grace to accept His Will in all things,
through Jesus Christ, our Lord,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, forever and ever.
Amen.

Hello everyone,

I just signed up to the forums but this thread jumped out at me! I am a strong believer in the power of prayer and St. Monica is my favorite female saint. I have already asked for her intercessory prayers for my husband but now is the time I need serious intervention.

Long story short, my husband is battling renal failure and we’re in the process of finding a suitable kidney for transplant. We’re SO close but have to wait to hear whether our first several people to test are a go. My husband is depressed, taking lots of medications, including an antidepressant, and now we are having marital problems. He told me recently that he’s no longer in love with me. We are going to a great counselor and I feel hopeful we can turn this around for our marriage and our three young children, 6, 3 and 8 months old. We were married in the Catholic church 9 years ago this May.

I am praying fervently every day that we have a true conversion of heart, come to a healing place where my husband receives a new kidney and a new lease on life, and we grow to be a happy, honest, trusting and God-loving wife and husband. Only good can come from here.

Saint Monica,
Please pray for all the intentions in this thread and for our dear husbands and families.

Thank you, everyone!

I’m sorry for all you’re going through. Might I suggest praying the chaplet of Divine Mercy? Jesus gave it to St. Faustina and said to pray it for all but especially for the sick. There’s a link in my signature if you’re not familliar with it. :hug1:

Prayers for all who post in this thread. May we and all those we love remain in the center of God’s will for our lives. :crossrc:

Thank you, Belle and all others for the prayers.

I think now is the time I learn about the Divine Mercy. Thanks for the suggestion.

This is the perfect time! (Well, there’s never a bad time!) Divine Mercy Sunday is always the Sunday after Easter Sunday. If you want to start a Divine Mercy novena you start it on Good Friday. Click here for lots of information.

The Divine Mercy has been such a blessing for my family and me. I am so thankful for God’s mercy and love! ❤️

Belle10 I really love the prayer to St. Monica - I was born on St. Augustine day and I often feel very close with St. Monica - I don’t think I gave my mom quite as much trouble as St. Augustine gave St. Monica, but this is kind of my point of view… 🙂 my mom might feel differently!
I think St. Monica as well as St. Augustine are both excellent Saints to have in your corner -
God Bless !

St. Monica - pray for me to bless my husband to others. I am really struggling with telling unkind truths about him to others wich amounts to bad-mouthing him. He really is a decent man and takes care of our family in ways above and beyond most men in his vocation. Please pray for me to forgive the disappointments in my life and accept that I do not need all of the grass-is-greener-on-the-other-side things I think I’m missing. I really am blessed, please help me to speak those blessings to him and OF him to others. Help me to praise him to our children. Thank You St. Monica!

St. Monica, please intercede for me with God. May there be a speedy and amicable solution to my legal problems-- one that is not costly, is in my cash reserves, and has no detrimental/ill/negative consequences on my life, teaching profession, and chances of immigration. May the M families be blessed with kindness, compassion, mercy, understanding and forgiveness particularly L. May the perpetrators who shot D be caught or surrender. Mat the M family (esp. L) feel no need to continue with a court/legal case (administrative, criminal, or civil) against us.

AMEN.

Also, please help me to be strong and not cave in to the temptation to just leave him since he is so hateful and mean to me. Help me to be more grateful for the small things and less depressed at my own life and unhappiness that I feel every day
