'Stand Your Ground' hearing could potentially clear Zimmerman in Trayvon Martin shooting

The confrontation was cause by Treyvon Martin tracking down Zimmerman, asking him what the (bleep) his problem was and then breaking his nose.
And if Zimmerman had been prudent, simply calling in his report and staying in his vehicle as a NW observer is supposed to, it’s very unlikely that the confrontation would have occurred.

What does any of what you just posted have to do with what happened that fateful night? Zilch. People have a right to walk where and when they are legally allowed to be without being shot by armed nitwits based on real/imagined fears of burglars.
People have the right to guard their neighborhoods without some punk nitwit starting a fistfight and trying to make ground meat out of their head. 🤷

I wish I had diligent people in my neighborhood who cared enough to try to ensure that my property was safe.

Which Zimmerman could have accomplished by simply reporting his observations to the police, as NW volunteers all over the country do every day. There was nothing to be gained in terms of neighborhood safety by him leaving his vehicle and following or “investigating” Martin, or whatever he was trying to do. There was no crime in progress, or even imminent. There was just a guy walking down the street.

What Zimmerman did is perfectly legal in every state of the union.

Unless he has called in a report before and the police didn’t show up for an hour. Been there, done that myself.

The question at hand isn’t whether what Zimmerman did was legal (which it was), but whether it was stupid - which it also was. He needlessly endangered himself by risking a confrontation with a possible criminal.

There is no law against being stupid, though.

He was stupid. That does not mean he is a murderer.

Yeah, you would be an expert in predicting what the “black community” (whoever you conceive them to be) is likely to do…Would you happen to know if the “black community” are the people arming themselves to the teeth for some long anticipated Armageddon?
I think he was referring to the many attacks on white people by angry black youth who became polarized over this case. If they don’t get blood for this case they will take it elsewhere. Just like with Rodney King the media didn’t show the footage before they had him down where he was successfully resisting a small army of cops and resisting arrest.

Of course they do.

What they shouldn’t do is start punching someone in the face or beat their head into the ground.

So what if the police didn’t show up? There was no crime taking place, or even any evidence of an imminent crime. In fact, if Zimmerman had simply observed for an hour, he would have seen where Martin was going.

Correct. I never said he’s a murderer. In fact, if his version of events is true, I don’t see how he could be found guilty under the Florida statute.

But I’ll bet that statute is going to be changed, regardless of the outcome of this case!

Yes, but if he is found as having used self-defense in a justified manner, thus innocent of killing Treyvon Martin, the feds could charge him with violating his civil rights, namely the right to be alive.
What right to be alive?

Yeah, according to Mr. “I swear I never tell a lie”. I for one am not drinking that Kool Aid. Florida jurors shouldn’t either.
George Zimmerman acted in self defense. The initial investigation proved this. It wasn’t until RACISTS like Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson used this tragedy for a photo op that this persecution of Zimmerman began.

I thought he was just a kid going for a walk to get some skittles.

His civil right to not be dead. 🤷 You will be amazed at how creative federal prosecutors will be when they insist on someone being charged with a crime. Look at Scooter Libby.
