'Stand Your Ground' hearing could potentially clear Zimmerman in Trayvon Martin shooting

Yeah, an aspiring police officer supposedly beaten by a bare-handed kid! Pitiful

You know, this is really one of the things that wonders me: why many folks here tend to believe that a Trayvon Martin can beat a George Zimmerman (a 28-year-old male!) hands down. Again, it makes absolutely no sense. And Zimmerman was aspiring to become a police officer and once attended a 14-week citizens’ police academy programme

At 45, I can understand why you say that then. But I am 25 and I don’t see how a Trayvon Martin can beat a guy like me without me fighting back unless I choose to stay cool and yell and can only fight to get the gun to kill him. The story makes absolutely no sense to me.

He was a teenager(!) and because he played football up to age 14 doesn’t make him powerful! Him being able to beat a 28-year-old male, who seems to have the strength only to fight for the gun and shoot, doesn’t make any sense.

the reason i ask this ,is that one can in my experience get hurt very badly thinking age has anything to do with coming out the victor in a situation like this.

No kidding. My son is 6 foot tall but only 16 years old. I wouldn’t want to see what he could do to a 28 year old, if my son got the first swing. :nope:

You are correct. The guy who hits first usually comes out on top, if he connects well. Especially if the other guy is not expecting it.

Another thing to consider is that we are faced with two scenarios here.

1.) Zimmerman deliberately followed Martin intending to murder him (which makes no sense right from the outset, since he would never have told the dispatch he was following him), then shot him, simultaneously caused his gun to jam so that it would look like it was on the ground, then smashed his head and face into something repeatedly to make it look like he was attacked, and managed to get 2 witnesses to lie about it to support his story

or

2.) Martin came back, started attacking him, and Zimmerman shot in self defense.

Occam is sharpening his razor.

Size and weight advantage? Martin’s propensity to violence and sucker punch? Eye witness testimony? Medical documentation?
 
I’ve seen more than one Chicago policeman who looked like they never spent a day in a gym in there life. I had a very un-athletic buddy about 20 years ago who tested for that same police force. Now Zimmerman’s under suspicion for losing a fight to a teenager ?

exactly,and cops most places are probably expected to be reasonably fit.but they ain’t expected to be chuck norris.
 
no one has seen any of the dash cam footage of police officers being attacked by one guy,his gun taken away and executed ? and some of these incidents involve officers with years on the job dealing with thugs.

What size and weight adv.? So you really believe that during the whole ordeal that lasted at least 44s, the only time Zimmerman could show strength was to overpower Trayvon in getting the gun? What the heck was he doing when his head was supposedly being bashed and when at one point, Trayvon apparently had one hand on his nose and the other hand bashing his head? :eek:

I don’t buy his story at all.

So this wasn’t a normal fight and Trayvon completely had the upper hand?

Why is Zimmerman making folks here believe that Trayvon just beat him hands down that night (apart from the gun grabbing part)?

See David & Goliath for an example of a very much smaller, weaker guy beating a larger opponent It does happen.
