I guess you don’t buy your groceries at stores that sell “Starbucks” coffee either…not many of those around. Most large chain grocery stores have pharmacies…that sell b/c pills, and other contraceptives…how do avoid that…?

that is what I mean about insanity…

I boycott Disney too…can’t afford to go there.

I don’t buy the things that I know money will be donated to Planned Parenthood as a result of my purchase. Therefore the store is not making money from me on those products. If my grocery store stocked 1000 Johnson & Johnson’s baby lotions and I don’t buy any and you don’t buy any and a lot of other people who care don’t either the store won’t buy any more of them. J&J therefore won’t be making the $ to give to PP.

It doesn’t bother me that you don’t boycott. I think it’s a bit odd that someone doesn’t get upset when a portion of the proceeds of their cup of coffee goes to child murder.
Au contrair, I never said I didn’t boycott. But now I am curious, do you spend all your time boycotting everyone on the LDI list, or do you “just feel bad” when you are forced to use/get or buy something from a company on the list?

unless they have a buy 1 one get one free…then I’d buy it. Johnson and Johnson products are expensive. I go where I get the best deal…and Starbucks is a treat…rare…but a treat.

I’m sure there are more than I know. I try to do the best I can by keeping myself informed w/ the LDI boycott list. If I’m able to boycott I do. I also let the company know about it. Why does this bother you?
I have taken a look at the LDI boycott list and all I can say is that it is designed to create hypocrites.

Take a look at it yourself here: fightpp.org/ You can’t see most of the list unless you send them some money.

Just one example…

They want you to boycott Microsoft:

You had better be using a Mac at home and all the banking, business transactions and any personal business outside of the home had better never use a Microsoft Operating System. Do you use any product anywhere in the world that take advantage of Microsoft’s technology?

This list is ridiculous, I bet that if you tried hard enough, you could find a moral problem with just about any company.

Boycott Microsoft, but who cares about the made in China, (notorious for human rights abuses), sweater that your wearing. Gimme a break.

Ah…I’ll tell you what is bad for you…but “first” you have to send me money…yeah, got that one…right off the bat.

See how insane something like this can get? One would be better off living in a cave? Unless it contained drawings made by pagans…and so on, and so on…ad nauseum.

Dare to think for yourself.

I know what I buy on a regular basis is not on the list. I have stores that I will go to and stores that I won’t go to.
However my mortgage was sold to someone on it. I feel really bad about that but I am unable to refinance right now.
If this makes me stupid then so be it. You must be smarter. But when I meet Jesus I’m hoping I will be able to say “I tried”.

Before you think ill of these people please know that after they charged my bank account they refunded me later.

No one is calling you stupid. But don’t go criticizing someone who chooses not to boycott Starbucks when you, by your own admission, pick and choose from the LDI list.

I haven’t been criticizing anyone. I think it’s unfortunate that so many people don’t care what their money goes to when they give to charities (like the MDA, March of Dimes and Komen) make purchases, or make investments. But that’s their own business not mine. I have never told anyone to boycott anything. That’s between them and their conscience. Just as my boycotting is. This is something my conscience calls me to. If yours doesn’t then so be it.
I wouldn’t exactly say I pick and choose. I have no alternative about the mortgage right now.

Target is NOT owned by a French corporation.

It is headquartered in Minneapolis and is a Minnesota corporation.

I guess you have no issues with suporting companies that teach and practice things that go against your faith…that is your issue not mine…I was replying to the OP…Starbucks supports ABORTIONS and GAY’s
Both of those issues are very important, but the way you say “GAY’S” bothers me. I support the GAY COMMUNITY as well, it is filled with REAL people. Your reference to REAL people lacks love and compassion.
I’m going to Starbucks today. I’m going to say that I’m a Catholic. I want to follow the example of Jesus who spent most of His time on Earth with sinners, drunks and publicans.

You could not be more wrong. Not only do I vote but I work hard on the campaigns of pro-life candidates. Part of that work is getting others to register to vote.
It would be insane to move for the reason stated. We have a moral responsiblilty to fund our governments and try to change the system. It is not possible to boycott the government. It is totally different from a business.
You’re wasting your time if you think that any politician who opposes choice will be elected.
Instead of trying to change the political scene why not devote your time to working with pregnant women who are considering abortion.
I know that it’s harder, but the fact is that you might actually make a difference.

Thank you Karin. I for one will not support ANY COMPANY/ORGANIZATION that supports what is agaisnt my faith. It is a matter or showing support to them or The Church. If i worked for them it would show i didn’t care, but i do so i will find another job.
Willy, please do not use what someone on a messageboard says as an excuse not to work!
Every company has things that could be better. Take the job and show a Christian presence by your behavior, be clean, show up on time and do a good job.
Don’t use the comments here as an excuse to stay at home and chat up folks on the internet.

Why would you assume I don’t help our local Birthright?
I don’t think any politcian who opposes “choice” would be elected. I know politicians who oppose abortion do get elected. Abortion is the route taken when a woman has no choice.
One last thing, if over the course of my life I prevent even $5 from going into the pocket of Planned Parenthood then so be it. My actions would be empty if I weren’t offering my inconveniences as a sacrifice to the Lord for the reparation of the sin of abortion and it’s end. I hope on this feast day of Our Lady of Guadalupe patroness of the unborn, you will join me in making a sacrifice as well. Maybe that won’t be refraining from making purchases from companies that directly write checks out to Planned Parenthood. But anything of your choosing will help.

By all means go to $tarbucks (pick me up a venti peppermint mocha, no sprinkles, while you are there 😉 ) just don’t announce your religion. It’s will make for an awkward moment, I would think.

How did I let this one get by me? I guess people calling Tar-zhay got to some people.

Ok…you got it, Cowboy!
I meant that, even though I drink coffee at Starbucks, (caramel macchiata) I’m still a Catholic.
I agree that it’s probably a bit strange to say:
“I’ll have a TALL caramel macchiata, and btw, I’m a CATHOLIC!”

59 posts and still no evidence that Starbucks supporst abortion or homosexual activity.

If I didn’t find coffee so replusive, I’d go there tomorrow.
