You still don’t understand.

The wife respects her husband’s authority.

Your opinion.

This is neither the law nor is it a Catholic doctrine.

I wouldn’t suggest one does that.

Yet you should get a dose of what doctors have told my wife.

Not exactly. A c-section is a high risk surgery. Without a risk equal or greater, it would be unethical to perform.

That’s why the medical system is performing more and more C section surgeries. In Brasil, it’s crazy. They manipulate and coerce girls into a scheduled c-section.

Husbands probably are intimidated to think they have no authority in the decision
What authority does a husband have in his wifes medical decisions then?

As much as she respects.

Let me present a real-life scenario of how this goes in a good marriage:

I am currently pregnant with my second baby. I had some pretty severe trauma last birth, which was not a c-section. Because of this, I have been offered a c-section this time. Both involve risks and I am considering each option. But technically, it is not a “medically necessary” c-section, should I choose it.

I asked my husband what his opinion of the situation is, considering he saw what happened the first time. He told me that I should do what feels right to me, and that I should listen to my doctor’s suggestions (she has explained both options, and left it up to me). He does not play any kind of ridiculous “authority” card and I wouldn’t have married him if I thought he was the type of person who would treat me like a child.

Are you a doctor? If not, might be best to leave this one to a woman and her doctor.
Indeed, while a woman should not be allowed to kill her child weighing up the risks of surgery should be between her and her doctor.

Funny how I think your husband said exactly what I would have said, yet you accuse me of encouraging an abuse of authority.

You asked your husband for his opinion. What if he said the opposite?

When you marry a man, you ought to trust yourself to his authority.

And she ought to respect her husbands authority. Not because it’s demanded, for it shouldn’t be, but because she gave herself to him, and he is her head.
