Stevie Nicks Says "There Would Have Been No Fleetwood Mac" If She Had Not Gotten an Abortion

It reminds me of a meme I saw where a woman is giving an acceptance speech on stage at some TV or music awards show, nd above you can see what might have been her child (if she didn’t have an abortion) saying ‘mummy, are you happy now?’ or something along those lines.

I think any professionally successful person who tries to pass off that they would not have had any of their success if they’d had a child/ children, is, excuse my language, full of s—. It’s just more pro abortion propaganda.

If there had been no Fleetwood Mac… well, we can never know how many bands or performers had a career altered by circumstance. But personally, I forgot all about F.M. shortly after their first album.

I also think that the world could have lived had there “been no” Fleetwood Mac. I don’t mean to imply they weren’t talented or successful, but if they had not come along, someone else would have. It’s music, not a cure for Cancer.

Was it really necessary though, or imagined necessary? An excuse to cover for the inconvenience a baby would have caused.

That’s obvious.

Do you know this for a fact? I don’t necessarily doubt it as drugs were all over the place then but has she ever commented that drugs got her pregnant or at least that she was doing them at that time? Did the father care or was he on drugs, too?

Second paragraph of the linked article she said there were lots of drugs.

@(name removed by moderator) and @irishmom, thanks. I have problems opening up sites on my iPad and didn’t realize she admitted to the drugs. Such a shame as she has an amazing voice!

There was Fleetwood Mac long before Stevie Nicks and Lindsay Buckingham joined the band. Nicks has a beautiful voice, but the world would not have changed with one less drug addicted rocker.

We don’t know what we lost due to her decision to kill her own child.

“I knew that the music we were going to bring to the world was going to heal so many people’s hearts and make people so happy. And I thought: you know what? That’s really important,” Stevie explained. “There’s not another band in the world that has two lead women singers, two lead women writers. That was my world’s mission.”

This is very sad, that her child’s life was less important than singing in a band with another woman. I am 30 and I can’t name one Fleetwood Mac song off the top of my head.

What a waste. Very few if any of the kids or teenagers today would know who they are. I haven’t listened to them in years and cannot remember any of their songs.

I’m 68 and can easily name twenty. My husband and I saw them in a small venue in Casper Wy. and they did many of our favorite songs. Hearing them reminds me of when my husband and I were first falling in love…and here we are 47 years later!

Stevie Nicks has no children and I found this story to be truly sad. Although I like her music, I do not want to think that in order for her to succeed, she would have had to have an abortion.

I really wonder how many other stars, singers, musicians, artists feel this way, just tragic.
Right, can’t let human life stand in the way of art, even pop-art.

I’ve always been a Stevie Nicks fan and have seen her perform solo and with Fleetwood Mac. I wish she had kept the child. If it meant not hearing her sing, the world would have gone on.

Having a child does not keep other singers from singing or actresses from acting. She chose the selfish way out.

I don’t think she would have had to give up a career. Granted the child would have been given a permanent nanny but so many children grow up with child care, it really would not have mattered.

Stevie Nicks is not a witch. She wore black clothing because it made her look thinner.
“I do not believe in witchcraft as a natural philosophy at all. I just think it’s fun. And I love black clothes and I love moons and stars and Merlin hats and Mickey Mouse. But no, I do not believe in that side of it at all,” Nicks told ET in 1983. She wore black clothing because it made her look thinner.

When asked what she thought about those who still believed the rumor, Nicks said, “I don’t like it all and I wish people would stop thinking about that, because I spent thousands of dollars on beautiful black clothes and had to stop wearing them for a long time, because a lot of people scared me.”

Stevie Nicks and really, the whole of Fleetwood Mac during their hit years were like the poster child of dysfunctional bands, where everybody was breaking up, having affairs, struggling with drugs etc. Stevie’s own personal life involved so much drugs and so much romantic drama with drugged people that it’s a miracle she’s still alive to even tell this story IMHO. I wasn’t a fan, didn’t really care for her voice or lifestyle and preferred other acts that had their lives more together and had deeper things to say.
