What a beautiful illustration of the single-issue political clinging.

She supports guns. Therefore her writing on whatever is beyond reproach.
Fascinating.
Honestly I have never seen such tenacity. It seems that if one is a Trump supporter, then that automatically makes you virtuous. On the other hand, if you are on the left, then of course you are morally suspect. The left being defined as anyone who dares to criticize Trump.

Well…there have been a couple of posters here on CAF in the early months of the Trump presidency who have echoed that sentiment…that they believe Trump has indeed been chosen by God

The comment starting at 4:20 is fascinating.
“In the span of an single election cycle, white evangelicals have gone from being the group in America that is most likely to say that a politician’s morality matters to the group that is least likely to say that.”

There are still people here in the US who still believe Obama is a Muslim and not a Christian…and/or that he is (or was… now he isn’t in office) the anti-christ or the precursor to the ant-christ…now we have Trump who some of these same Christians say has been chosen by God…now you know why the real religion here in the US is all to do with politics

That guy is hilarious! He really thinks he is on to something.

Instead of trying to figure out why the white evangelicals supported Donald Trump and his family, he might try asking why they so vehemently rejected Bill and Hillary. That is the big question. What was so morally reprehensible about Bill and Hillary that they chose Mr. Trump over Hillary? They want to keep picking at Donald Trump and shaming the people who voted for him and they don’t seem to understand that if Hillary had not been so unlikeable and untrustworthy or if the candidate had been anyone else but Hillary and her husband Bill, maybe Donald would not be president. As it stands, the best candidate won.

He might. But that is not relevant to the ongoing pattern of excusing the bead and even “horrible” things that Trump does. For all those who voted for what they percieved as the lesser of two “evils”, the election is over but the silence in the face of “evil” continues. For those who valued the Supreme Court appointments above all, they are in place: now what?

Most of all, for those who “n the span of an single election cycle, white evangelicals have gone from being the group in America that is most likely to say that a politician’s morality matters to the group that is least likely to say that”, how do you account for this reorientation of moral compass?
They chose Donald’s morality over Bill and Hillary’s morality.
See above.

Hillary was a really bad candidate.

We only had one other person to vote for.

The election is over, why the uncritical support now?
That is the most amazing thing. As I have said many times, I can understand someone coming to the conclusion that Trump was a lessor evil. What I will never understand is why people seem shocked that Trump has critics and Trump critics are just as patriotic, just as morally upright as anyone. They seem to love to perpetuate the myth that if you criticize Trump, you are a morally degenerate hater.

Yes. I went back and forth with this with one of our more prominent posters the other day. Apparently Trump supporters believe they have a monopoly on patriotism. I’m guessing that pretty soon we’ll be back to the 1950s, and those of us who do not support Trump will be called “un-American.”

I do find it amusing that people who supposedly believe in smaller government believe that your degree of patriotism is directly linked to your willingness to spend other people’s money on a military parade.

The election is over - someone needs to tell that to the left, the progressives, the democrats (whatever it is they call themselves now).

They don’t seem to have gotten the message. It is almost 2 years since the
election and they are beside themselves with how to deal with this shocking and
unbelievable loss.

The only way they can deal with it is to demean anyone who supported Trump.
For 2 years they have tried to get rid of him, and gosh darn it, he is still there!

Somebody needs to tell the Trump supporters. I don’t speak for the left because I am probably to the right of you, but Trump supporters keep bringing up Hillary and right now she is essentially irrelevant.

What message are they supposed to get? That we are all now suppose to praise the dear leader?

How exactly have the Trump critics on these forums tried to get rid of him?

Hillary has to accept responsibility for her
humiliating loss.
Maybe when they accept the Trump presidency and stop harrassing Trump, we won’t have to bring up Hillary.

Clearly, the job of the opposition party is to oppose, is it not? Wasn’t the goal of the republicans to make Obama a one term president? Why are you expecting the democrats to act any differently?
