This quote totally hit me hard from you, because it represents everything we all believe. We believe that everything will be ok and sometimes it just isnt. But you know I read this sentence of yours several times and what finally hit me (maybe it was the holy spirit) was that …she was brought HOME safe from camp after all. It just hit me all of a sudden, and I thought I would share it…I dont know for some reason its like when you see something one way and then all of a sudden you see the same thing a different way.
**I know what you mean Vester444 … we all are journey here on this earth to get to our heavenly journey … for some reason … McKayla’s journey was cut short.
My husband doesn’t believe that we all have a plan according to our Father … I do … but when I look at my McKayla’s life … she was only 13 … what in the world would have been her role? Yes, she was beautiful, perfect in everyway, talented, smart, warm and loving … but what could she have possibly accomplished for his greater good at age 13? **
I hope that one day your world will go from a black and white picture back to a colored one, I’m sure that right now everything just looks, feels, tastes, and TRULY IS just a shade of grey as you walk with Grief so intimately close to you. I hope that as time passes, Grief will walk further and further away from you. I think you will always see him, but maybe he’ll be walking far away at some point…
**Me too — it isn’t even Grey - is is black most times … with light shining through when I see Amanda and of course my husband Greg. We are all just so sad right now — holidays are approaching and anxieties are heightened … I pray that I am strong enough to face them without a part of me … for a part of us died that cold - snowy day on Mar 19.
I have a good friend that wrote me and said:
“Figuring out how to live with joy and sorrow sitting side-by-side us in our lives is certainly a long road. Step-by-step, day-by-day. …Keep walking with your friends and facing each day. Think about what brings you strength and pull these memories out during those dark moments you are bound to have. And when that seems impossible, take strength from your friends – we are always here. We will make it through this hurdle, mothers, side-by-side, on this path we have no choice but to walk down. An entire village of friends is beside you.**
I try and reflect on that often - because we have been blessed with so many people who love us - even some who don’t know us offering prayers and masses - still getting meals delivered … just a very humbling experience.
There were over 1100 people at her wake and about 300 people at her funeral Mass … and many people have said it was a religious experience. It was the most perfect Funeral I have ever (sadly) attended. We, Greg and I, took great care and planning her funeral …
God’s peace to you Vester … and thank you for your thoughts and insights … they are profound.
Love MOe.
Wishing you all of God’s peace…
Vester
