Kavanaugh is a federal employee about to be promoted to higher federal job. The U.S. Senate is part of the federal government.

Your statement does not follow her question. If Kavanaugh were to get a speeding ticket and he want to challenge it, the FBI would not have jurisdiction.

They can run a background check on a SCOTUS candidate, but they don’t have jurisdiction to investigate it as crime

The FBI also does background checks on nominees. This information was not discovered by the FBI in earlier checks on Kavanaugh, but is available now.

Might be. But Maryland, like many states, allows for juvenile defendants to be tried as adults in certain cases.
 
How can you rationalize any other reason other than politcal for this smear campaign?
 
Pathetic that she isn’t willing to extend the same consideration tonJudge Kavenaugh.She doesn’t seem to have an issue which his character being smeared.This congresswoman has no credibility

I think it unfair, at this point, to make this out as a smear campaign. In order to do this, you pretty much have to dismiss the allegations. Why would anyone propose to do that before an investigation of the facts?

Shje is asking that Ford be heard. She has not asked that Kavanaugh not be accorded the same opportunity.

The accuser can’t even get her story straight.Add to that the timing,yeah it’s a campaign smear but your bias’ agsinst anything relating to Trump apparently clouds your ability see see this.

This is a tactic by the Dems to thwart Kavanaugh’sappointment. If she wants to be heard why is she stalling? She has been given until Monday to tell her side.I suspect she has gotten into something she doesn’t know how to get out of without being exposed .So this latest tactic to bring in ThevFBI is just a cover,I bet she’s hoping the Republicans will proceed with the vote,she won’t have to testify and can save face for starting this whole shameful mess

I think that Senate Democrats, in the main, oppose Kavanaugh and would like to see him nomination fail. That is their prerogative.

Her lawyer has asked for the FBI to investigate, rather than simply reduce this to he said - she said. That does not seem unreasonable.

I think that you have little to no knowledge about her or why she is doing what she is doing.
 
What are they going to investigate? She can’t seem to get her facts straight and nonthevFBI won’t get involved like a said a stall tactic. How she or any of the Dems sleep,at night is beyond my understanding.

No, she said the following:
“Not only do women, like Dr. Ford, who bravely comes forward, need to be heard, but they need to be believed,” Hirono added. “We cannot continue the victimization and the smearing of someone like Dr. Ford.”

So with out a hearing of both sides, she believes Dr. Ford is believable because she has XX chromosomes.
Do you think the threshold of believability is the ownership of XX chromosomes?

She also said:

“I just want to say to the men in this country: Just shut up and step up,” Hirono said in a video that’s been widely shared on social media. “Do the right thing for a change.”

This implies: Men should have no say in situations like this, and that men don’t do the right thing.

Would you find what she said acceptable if a man said it and replaced the word “men” with “women”? Do you think she is broad-brushing? If not, why?
 
Amazes me that Ford thinks she can dictate to the FBI. I have no doubt she’s being manipulated by Feinstein and her fellow travelers.
