This was a party but one account says she was in her one piece swimming suit? Sounds like something I should back up and here it is:

So, were they at a swimming pool too? Anyway, I guess that wrinkle in the story is of no importance. We picture a party and some drinking. It sounds like a small get together, not some HS party say with 60 people there or something.

You are right, we should not rush to judgment. You might tell that to the numerous senators who have declared the judge guilty without hearing either he or the accuser speak. If she turns out not to be credible, where does the judge go to get his reputation back?
Or tell that to the many senators and the White House that claims he’s innocent. Your position is highly partisan whereas mine is not as my position is that of let the FBI conduct its investigation and then I’ll wait & see.

In the United States, a person is considered innocent until proven guilty. The 14th amendment to the US Constitution guarantees to every person, aliens included, “equal protection under the law”. No one should have to prove their innocence.

FBI has already investigated him six times. Er, how many does one want?

Oh, and there are big questions as to whether they have legal authority in this area, so now, one is indeed being partisan in siding with one of the accusers who demand this.

There is a good chance, Ford won’t even show up to testify at this point.
No. She’ll show up. She’ll need the “fill” from it for her book.
it would be good to have an Evangelist or other on the court
You can forget any Evangelical or Fundamentalist appointments to the Court. They’re disliked by the left even more than Catholics.

When new allegations arise, they should be checked. Even of the allegations were to be true, I’m not certain their significant enough for Kananaugh to be dropped but maybe his denial would be enough if that’s established as being false. Remember, with Bill Clinton it was his denial under oath that go him impeached, not his sex with Lewinsky.

Secondly, I am in no way siding with the accusers, so now you are “bearing false witness”. Please stop doing that. At this point I have no opinion on whether he should be ratified or not, plus, unlike some here, I’m not willing to jump to any unwarranted conclusions.

There is no precedent for an FBI investigation and that is only what the accusers have asked for, so if you accuse me back, fine.

According to this kind of logic, anyone virtually can make an accusation, request an investigation.

Actually, that’s a very partisan position. The non partisan position is to call for the accusers to file charges in Bethesda. The FBI shouldn’t investigate outside their jurisdiction

The President through the DoJ can initiate an investigation for the FBI. Anyone can request an investigation but the FBI is under no obligation to take up all or even most requests. The FBI has background checks all the time for federal positions, and any case whereas there’s a change or suspected change a new investigation can be done.

False-- see above.

True, and an American is still presumed innocent. But if it is a crime, criminal charges should be filed

Show me where the FBI regularly investigates local or state crimes.

A background check is not a criminal investigation. The accusations are of a criminal nature and charges should be filed and investigated in the local jurisdiction

Again and again and again-- this is not a trial that’s being called for!!! If done, it would be a continuation of a background check based on new accusations.

A criminal charge can become “probable cause” for an FBI investigation as part of a background check.

Why not? It should be. These are crimes being alleged! There is no investigation into a no crime. As it stands, it is rumor and accusation.
The FBI already investigated the Ford accusation- the letter and witness statement.
