I have several people at our food pantry who would love to describe for you the joys of subsidized housing, food stamps and living on money that the government took to “punish” you. Some will chastise me, but those who support this ruling are to blame. You cannot expect me to do the “American” thing of getting married, having kids and saving for the future…if the government is going to literally rob me and punish me for doing it.
- Decide never to get married
- Not have kids, instead I’ll get a vasectomy
- Live as a cad
- Live minimally and not work hard
- Not invest any money for retirement
- Spend all the money on me and not give a dime to any charity, (well maybe I’ll give to the apolitical charities that have no share in the blame for this mess and spends only <20% on administrative costs)
I would have to be insane to want to do that, I would do the more logically thing of giving up in life and hopes that the government leviathan implodes because men like me go Galt.
I’m still gonna BLAME BUSH FOR THIS CAUSE IT’S HIS FAULT WE HAVE CJ ROBERTS!

I wish I thought that the electorate was that wise. But more and more of them are dependent on government to take care of them. Just wait until people find out what KIND of health care they are going to get. I don’t think that is going over too well.This is the key. Obama is a 1 termer.

Good Lord! Put politics aside, this ruling by the SC is a win for the people! With that note, I would like to quote REAPREASON’S comment from another thread:
Its a red herring to imply that being taxed for [universal] healthcare is to be morally responsible for the addition of abortion in the health care plan. Not only that, its a wolf in sheep’s clothing since it is merely an excuse to prevent [universal] health care.

Well fwiw, I HAVE been there myself. Subsidized housing, welfare check, food stamps, medicaid, the whole bit (including the dehumanizing treatment I received at the Human Services office when I signed up) and although I wouldn’t go as far as calling it Communism, but I have had enough of this entitlement state we now have.
There is a common sense way to help the poor. And there is a STUPID way to help the poor. Our gov’t has gone the latter route.

Had the Congress, SCOTUS, and Presidency during the Bush years. I didn’t notice any change. In fact the largest expansion of government other than Obamacare happened under Bush II the prescription drug medicare act.
Had 7-2 majority before and abortion was affirmed by the SCOTUS. Supposedly conservative justices love stare decisis when given the opportunity to undo past ridiculous rulings by their colleagues.
So then Reagan only did not obstruct the Democrat Congress who necessarily passed the laws? I’m uncomfortable with the whole concept that any president creates jobs. That outlook gives the government far more power and credit than it has or should have. Also jobs are not the same as wealth. There are plenty of make work jobs even in our current economy. Debt increased and America consumed more during and since the Reagan years but neither are measures of success when productivity does not increase but rather of systemic failure.20+ million jobs say hi. And he had a Dem Congress.

Canned beans? Fried potatoes are so much yummier & cheaper.
I imagine there will be quite a few working poor who will get screwed over by this. I’m curious how all of those people who are already struggling to pay their bills and student loans are going to squeeze in a few extra thousand a year for health insurance or the increased taxes. I know I can’t.
