Let me mourn the death of America as a free republic.

However, John Roberts may have tossed the Republicans a bone. All they have to do now is win majority control of the Senate in November and they can repeal Obamacare by reconcilliation without needing Presidential signature. By declaring Obamacare a tax, he made Obama a liar of the first order AND gave the mechanism to repeal this horrific law in the same way it was passed, by a trick of Senate procedure.
I hadn’t thought of the reconcilliation concept - very good point.

Nonsense. As I recall, Israel was under the yoke of Rome when its people (at least some of them) underwent the most dramatic conversion in history.
Rome converted Israel to Christianity by the force of the occupying legions?

Wow, I must read more history.

Cuba, Greece, United Arab Emirates, Cyprus have higher life expectancy than the US.
Maybe due to healthier eating habits? Of course that’s no excuse for our bad health care system, but still.

Life expectancy does not constitute as good health care

If you truly believe Cuba has a better health care system…seriously I will pay you a ticket for you to see it with your own eyes.

I can’t wait until the Democrats start to legislate the mandatory purchase of electric cars, energy efficient windows, tax the life out of “meat”, tax you being overweight, tax you for not going to the gym or having a gym membership, tax you for not eating your veggies.

It is a complete misnomer to call Democrats “liberal”, because that would imply that they believe in liberty in some fashion. I will just call them fascists, which is more appropriate, since they are colluding with the insurance industry to control the lives of every American.

People are also suffering under Obamacare. Healthcare rationing for the elderly has been taking place since December. But, who cares, they’re old. They’ve lived their lives. They should just move over and let us youngun’s have a go at it.
Since Obamacare took place I’ve had to pay more out of pocket. The most recent surprise? I took my son for a check up, the doctor asked if we had any concerns. We stated that our son snores, she checked his throat, his uvula is split and hence the snoring. Because of that one question and answer, we were chared $125 in addition to the cost of the checkup (yes, the checkup was fully covered, but because the uvula was not a part of the check up and has a “follow up” potential, it was charged seperately). Needless to say, when I went for my appointment and I did have a concern regarding my chest, I didn’t mention it to the doctor because of this additional charge that my family budget cannot afford right now. And to top it off, I just received a bill for $165 for an appointment I had for pink eye. And yes, I have insurance. I know that Obamacare has taken from my family budget even more than before Obamacare

If our health care is the best in the world why do we spend more than any other country per patient and yet our life expectancy is 26th. in the world?

Is this simply something we are SUPPOSED to say “we have the BEST health care.”
Life expectancy would be inaccurate as a representative statistic, as health care quality can’t fix cultural lifestyles (diet, exercise, etc.). The leading cause of death in the U.S. is heart disease.

Don’t think people are going to be thanking him when they find out just what kind of care they are going to get. Decisions will be made by government entities as to who and what kind of care people get. The patients and the doctors have been left totally out of this equation. There are ways to fix the problem for those who did not have insurance, thru no fault of their own, without dismantling the whole system and lowering the delivery of the finest medical care in the world to the lowest common denominator. The excellent care that Americans have come to expect will be a thing of the past if this abomination is allowed to stand.
News flash-patients and doctors have been out of the equation for a LONG time. They have been replaced by insurance companies who decide care based on what is profitable for them.

And we aren’t the “finest in the world” in Health care. Not even close. Google is your friend, or Poltifact if you like a more conservative bias.

Stop complaining and pay your fair share. Its for the good of the country, comrade.

😛

Well, that’s because Italy has other issues, like not enough doctors and hospitals.

I’ve met people from Toronto and Quebec Canada, who came to live here and say how their families have great health care coverage back home, and how ours stinks.

I also know some from New Brunswick, who claim it’s lousy and one guy told me how his uncle died, because he was waiting for bye-pass surgery. Of course where his uncle lives in New Brunswick, there is one clinic about 25 miles away. He refused to go to Montreal, where he could’ve gotten the surgery.

Jim
They have hospitals. They have a decent number of doctors, but not enough because under socialized medicine they don’t make didly

God bless your political acumen, Scott!

That’s something I had never considered!

👍
I was paying attention during the Scott Brown special election. And THANK YOU HARRY REID!!! For giving us the blueprint for overturning this stupid law.

Preventative healthcare, education, and screening are certainly within the scope of healthcare.

In fact it is much of the future of healthcare improvement. Prevention- not treatment is the key to improving our standing.

  1. The administration, and the ACAs many supporters on Catholic Answers have have stood their ground repeatedly on it not being a tax. I am sure they are delighted in the ruling today, but I assume that means they were either lying, or legally, just wrong the entire time? It will be hard to rebut the forthcoming ads that highlight this “dupe.”
If they were trying to run a “dupe,” they didn’t do a very good job. I was aware before ACA was ever passed that there would be a tax on those who opted out, and I didn’t have a problem with it, and never tried to say it wasn’t a tax.
