SEATTLE — A man being investigated for the fatal shooting of a right-wing activist who was part of a pro-Trump caravan in Portland, Ore., was killed on Thursday night when authorities moved to arrest him, according to three law enforcement officials familiar with the investigation.

The officials said the suspect, Michael Forest Reinoehl, 48, was killed during the encounter in Lacey, Wash., southwest of Seattle, when a federal fugitive task force moved to apprehend him.

I was kind of concerned when the news broke that he gave a televised interview to air tonight because that’s just not smart legally and his lawyers advised against it, but he knew they were going to hunt him down. I’m glad he at least got to tell this story. All of the law enforcement and media weirdness around this case was driving people to think that the shooter must have been an undercover cop or fed or something, I’ve never seen anything like it, but now I know when we do see this same weirdness again in the near future the feds are planning to assassinate someone.
 
Glad to see that the US Government is finally taking violence against Trump supporters seriously now.

Really, the man could have waited for police Saturday night and told them “His story” but then - he probably needed time to figure out what “that Story” should be …

Its now 5 days later and the man fled the state, left the scene, left the state. You indicate he had lawyers - they should have been counseling him to turn himself in and cooperate with law enforcement - and that he should not be afraid - as they could have arranged his arrest in a non confrontational manner with attorneys present.

He - if he had nothing to hide and witnesses and video to corroborate his version of events … especially after the local press is so positive and favorable to the protesters/rioters/looters/arsonists … and the man he killed portrayed at a neo-Nazi Trump supporter … in liberal Portland - even if the evidence did not support him - he might get off …

But then maybe, just maybe he understood that the protesters/rioters/looters/arsonists were overplaying their hand and that previous supportive citizens of PDX are growing weary of the shenanigans … and destruction … perhaps that is why he fled - especially after shooting a person apparently without and semblance of real justification.

I feel bad for his family … and for the man’s family that he shot … sad for PDX … what a waste and all for naught … this fiasco has not been about Black Lives or police brutality for a long time - Hijacked is what it was …

Then he should have stayed there Saturday night … I have not seen a video that shows the man who was shot acting aggressively at the time … it seems that one was reaching for mace, one a gun …

You can say the one fired his gun to prevent getting maced …
You could say one raised his can of mace in an attempt to prevent being shot …

One died at the scent and one ran away

Audio shows they approached the man who was shot after they were told they were in the area … which does not really support the “I had no choice…” story

Depending on who the witness is - different witnesses have a different view and different story …different perspective …and man who was with the guy who died said they were hunted down …

t is a fact that the man - who claimed to be legitimate ‘security’ fled the scene like a criminal, fled the state like a criminal … that does not look good for him … and of course he has a record of infractions - which also does not speak well for his credibility

Since when is calling for the arrest of a suspect - who had two warrants against him [the current one plus a failure to appear on an earlier offense] equate to a death squad? …

Really? And people wonder why they and their complaints are not taken seriously? Or is this your equivalent of Schiff’s dramatization of what he wished Trump said on the Ukrainian call …

You wanted Trump to call for a death squad …and yet all he called for was the man’s arrest
 
There are some pictures of the aftermath of the attempted arrest which makes me think reporters must have been around when law enforcement went to serve a warrant.

Or some guy pulled a gun on federal agents during an arrest and got shot.

But since neither of us nor anyone on this board knows what actually happened, let’s refrain from silly hyperbolic statements about how this is a reflection of our country. You literally have zero insight into what happened.
