One of those GREAT stupid movies for sure. Great charactors make up for a rather thin plot, but in such a movie as this it seems to really work, cause all the actors give 100%
The first flick where I can actually believe an ex dumb jock would believe he can buy a real working time machine off of ebay! Thats PRICELESS! 👍

and if ya really wanna get freaked out that actual bizarros are running around, rent the documentay: Crumb… too weird for words

I beg to differ. The best line is when Kip drives over the “indestructible” Tupperware and drives off with a loud, oh-so-frustrated “Dang it!!!”
I think that’s why Napoleon Dynamite is so popular: It’s a big, fat collection of great one-liners.

i just bought the dvd the other day. only watched til the pedro cake thing. Its good so far
 
that was the worst movie i’ve seen since “plan 9 from outer space!”
 
I’m not the biggest fan of the movie, but I met the actors who played “Pedro” and “Kip” in the movie last week. Very nice folks.
 
I know that there are people who think that this movie is stupid, or has no plot, but actually, I see a deeper meaning in it. To me it means that the lowlier people of this world–the uncool, the unsophisticated, the unpopular–have their dreams (no matter how ridiculous they may seem to you or me) and are entitled to have their dreams come true.

One of my friends has it and brought it to prom! They played the song at the dance and the song that Napoleon dances to. Awesome.

Exactly! It’s so bad that it’s good! The best line is in the deleted scenes:

Whatisname (Summer’s boyfriend): “Don’t make me fight you, Napoleon!”
Napoleon: “Yeah right! Who knows the secret illegal kung-fu moves from the government!”
 
Aftering watching Napoleon Dynamite for the first time, I asked myself why did I waste 90 minutes watching this stupid movie. I told my girlfriend not to watch it and while I was doing that I was repeating scenes from the movie I dislike. I was told by my coworkers you either hate it or love it. I watched it for a second time with my girlfriend so I can put her thru the same torture I went thru. I have to admit, I’m slowly getting to like it.

My experience with this film was quite similar. I watched it once and didn’t even crack a smile. The next day I am telling my coworkers how stupid the film is and sharing some of the scenes. A coworker said “if you hate it so bad, why are you laughing?” I watched it again (with my wife) and I couldn’t stop laughing.

pro-life_teen, sorry it took me a month to get back to your question. The answer is: not at all! Aaron Ruell is very soft-spoken, and doesn’t look, or act a thing like Kip. He’s actually attractive, as well.

Efren Ramirez seems very easy-going, energetic, likeable, and humorous. And like Aaron Ruell, he doesn’t look, or act a thing like his character. 🙂
 
I loved the movie from the start!! It was set in the 80’s…the music was great…it transformed me back to highschool. I actually knew people like Napoleon…and I was his girlfriend.

After I watched it with my children, I pulled out my annual and pointed out a Napoleon on evey page! It was great!!!
