If you think about it, the Catholic Church actually has much more “evidence” about it’s claims concerning life and death then Sylvia Browne does. Saints, nuns and others have claimed to have visions of Heaven, Hell and/or Purgatory. If you’ve read “Purgatory Explained” you’d see that there was quite a number of people who claimed that souls from Purgatory appeared to them and asked for prayers. Look at what happened at Fatima; thousands of people claimed that the sun was going down like that, the day the children said Mary informed them to gather the people, right? People who were Catholic such as Padre Pio had spiritual gifts. The only thing that’s “significant” about Sylvia Browne nowadays is that her teachings are recent. My point is, the Church has a long history of people (like Sylvia Browne, but right) who had supernatural gifts.

Are the predictions she has made available anywhere on her site?
You may look here:
sylvia.org/home/predictions.cfm
You have to order her yearly predictions, but may access her 100 years predictions. She comes on Montel’s show on Wednesdays and that’s when she shares some of her predictions. My wife watches it and tells me what they were. The most recent one was her prediction that Michael Jackson would be convicted. We’ll have to wait and see, won’t we? I personally think he’ll be convicted also. Does that make me a psychic? Not really - or at least I don’t think so.

Personally, I couldn’t tell you if she is “for real” or not. And, really I don’t care. I look at it as rather a “novelty” of human behavior.

Peace…

Personally, I don’t think there are any real psychics. They are all charlatains.

And as well you shouldn’t believe in psychics, Sylvia brown knows as well as i do that The Holy Spirit forwarned us on not to get involved with people that take on soothsaying and fortune tellers, for she herself was a Catholic at one time. She even worked with nuns at one time. She is a perfect example of a person who has drifted away from the trueth and wishes to lead others away as well, in a soothsaying way, By useing misguided words that sound very acceptable to the ears, but in reallity are not. Those of you who do continue to listen to people like Sylvia, beware that in time the wolf will reveal himself from that sheeps clothing and thos one time acceptable words will no longer look so acceptable (when it is time to be judged by the Lord) The Lord may very well say to you, “leave me for I do not know you, you have followed those who used words in soothsaying and fortunetelling against my Father’s will” Peace to you

Absolutely, I have no doubt that the supernatural exists, that people can be gifted with psychic abilities or other rare abilities, as in the amazing abilities Padre Pio had. The question to ask is whether the individual points to The One True God, or points away… what are the fruits? The Mysitc or gifted Saints typically were humble and did not try to make money from their abilities. Sylvia Brown was born Catholic, maybe if she had stayed in her faith, she could have been a mystic Saint, but we all make our choices. From her site it is obvious that her beliefs are not compatable with Christianity. God isn’t finished with any of us yet. Pray for her, whether her psychic abilities are authentic or not. Christians need to be careful what they “let in” and stay clear of a guru who strays from Christian Truth.

Agreed, I would like to add that weather one believes in the so called super natural and phychic abilities, we as true Christians are to look away from this kind of teaching and belief. Peace to all

Yeah the devil is a “slick fella.” My ex mother in-law was at the center of my divorce. She too is a well known so-called psychic, clairvoyant, clairaudient, “ghost buster”. She proclaims to do all these wonderful acts in the name of truth. She plays with tarrot cards, reads palms, does pychic soul portraits, has a crystal ball, and runs around the midwest with her burning sage telling the trapped spirits of this world to go to the “light.” Very dangerous stuff, because so many people place their faith on wanting to know their futures. Yes, most of it is hocus pocus, but Lucifer shows his beauty at time revealing secrets to astonish the unbelievers. This movement is very much into “Gnostiscism”, which was declared a heresy in the first couple centuries of the Church. All fortune tellers need to be licensed by the state as such, and the license says it’s for entertainment only as well as disclaimers on infomercials. BEWARE of any superstitious claims, especially when there is so much money involved and these people are in it for huge financial gains.

I ask for prayers for my children as well they too are under the influence of grandma and the so called “good” she is doing for the community.

Be prayerful, vigilent and decerning. The wolf is disquised as a sheep.

See Fr. Mitch Pacwa’s book on the “New Age Movement”

Yes, the Church has had many mystics and miracle workers such as Padre Pio. BUT they were not charlatans and to put Sylvia Browne in the same category as these holy and saintly folks does the Chruch and the reputation of these sainlty people a great disservice.

Padre Pio was very recent, he passed away in the 1960’s. Ms Browne shouldn’t even be mentioned in the same sentence as the saintly Padre. Just my opinion,

Christ’s Peace WC

It does strike me odd though that Wiccans (who always turn out to be ex-something else) feel a need to "show up " in a religion forum with other denominations and attempt to “sell” the package.
I have no need to “sell” anything? Do you honestly think I care what religion you practice? I definately won’t lose any sleep over the fact that someone doesn’t practice the same religion I do and it’s none of my business to try and convert anyone.
And when one has the temerity to ask about credibility - they assume it’s about them.
Well when you made your credibility remark, it was my post you quoted. A logical person would assume you were referring to me.

There are good wiccans and bad wiccans, just as there are good Christians, and bad Christians. That’s about as sweeping a statement as I can make.
Of course, that is also a logical statement. Certainly much better than someone saying, “All Christian priests are child molesters” or “All Wiccans are Satanists” or “All Muslism are terrorists”, etc.
We as Christians have to question folks who follow a faith fairly well steeped in the occult, especially one in which folks refer to themselves as witches. Magic to us has always carried the stigma of the black arts, Satanism, and evil.
I certainly understand that. I was raised Catholic and am aware of the attitude towards magic, etc. It’s just that that doesn’t necessarily make it true.
Dabbling in the occult, bringing up the dead is forbidden, not to mention downright creepy!
The “occult” is a very broad term and I prefer to leave the dead where they are, thank you. 🙂

SPOKENWORD:
The TRUTH is that there is only one True God.Anyone who worships any other god breaks GODS commandments and is guilty of sin.
Only problem is, that if this statement is true…Just because Christians claim to worship the “one, true God”, doesn’t make it so. What if you are wrong?
BlessedBe are you innocent or Guilty before the TRUE GOD?
Innocent or Guilty of what?
Now I know why you dont believe in Hell.
Not really. You haven’t given any reason supporting why I don’t believe in hell.
The TRUTH is no one will escape the wrath of GOD.
Whatever happened to all-loving?
Admit you are a sinner and repent and you will recieve forgiveness.
Of course I know I do wrong, and I try to do what I can to make it right again.

We were created to believe in one God, it was meant to be that way. God didnt’ want slaves, he wanted his creation, made in His image to love him back of their own free will.
That’s contradictory. If we were made to believe in a particular God, we wouldn’t have free will, or at least not in that aspect.

Hi BlessedBe, Good to see you back. We were created to believe only in the True God, Not the one we make up to fit our belief system. What the true God did was create a heaven and a hell so that you can have the freewill to choose. Its your choice Blessedbe. You do have a freewill, correct? How long will you deny the True God? His Law is written in your heart. How long will you continue to break it? You will come before Him on Judgement day whether you believe it or not.You will be judged according to the Law.[10 commandments]. What do you think? Will you be innocent or guilty? God Bless
