This is why I carry at Mass. It’s only a matter of time and place when this happens to us.
 
He believes the Jews are behind the influx of migrants. Does that sound like rational thinking at all? Do most conservatives believe this? Does Trump believe this? I think not. If anything, there are probably more leftists opposed to Israel in its battle with the Palestinians than those on the right. Regardless of party affiliation, however, this act is the work of a very disturbed, irrational individual.

Many of mass goers carry. In my state. Most can carry without a permit. Many times people around you are carrying. Many of duty law enforcement at mass for example. Our priest met with men in the parish and asked that some who are trained, carry. In fact in several parishes in my state the priest may be carrying.
I pray you never have to find out if the person next to you is carrying. But if you do, I pray they defend your parish well.
 
And pray also that they know how to shoot a gun with utter precision so that innocent parishioners do not get injured or killed in the crossfire of a crowded church setting.

I imagine not but it doesn’t really matter. If you promote anti-semitic conspiracy theories and one of your irrational followers shoots up a synagogue you contributed to that (like they were playing a rerun of Lou Dobbs’ show today and a guest pulled a straight-up ZOG for goodness’ sake).
 
This has really been crackpot week, the story about the Kroger grocery store, that culprit seemed to want to go to a black church but couldn’t get in, then, you have the bomber and then, this heinous act today. 3 of these horrible incidences.

It’s pretty arbitrary how one separates these characters, one could say this guy in Pittsburgh is anti-Trump; and then, group them with all the anti-Trumpers, DeNiro, Maxine Watesr, Madonna and so on.

A lot of those young mass shooters are suppose to have liberal parents, Columbine, the shooter of Gabby Giffords, the Sandy Hook shooter.

So what? Children and siblings can have opposing ideologies and/or political views. I was happy not to have to answer to my parents for my views.
 
Is this really any different to any other mass shooting in USA.
If so , why .

It is a very sad state a country has gotten itself into when people have to carry weapons while worshipping God.

its a response to Hoosier Daddy carrying weapons to Mass because he feels the time will come he will need to use them in Mass.

Its a very called for statement. And I do pray your country finds its way out of that sort of discourse. And that there is not the need to carry weapons to Mass to protect yourselves from crazed countrymen who think the best thing they can do is shoot a congregation up, whatever the religion of that congregation is.
 
Hasn’t it happened that priests have been shot while saying Mass in other countries? I wonder if that is what our country is coming to. Used to, it would never happen “here”. Now, not so sure about anything…
 
Sure has, And in one country in particular at the moment, its become a blood bath.

I am in a Diocese, in Parishes that had probably the worst paedophile priest anywhere. We have had our share of Catholic hatred, we don’t announce certain masses because of the reaction they would get, but we hold them. Through it all, we have never felt unsafe in Mass. That day could come, but I pray we look deeply at whats going on before it does.
 
I am sure, I can slam other people’s countries as well and make unkind statements. We are 320,000,000, a mixed society vs. say, Australia. Sure, we have some problems, I don’t think that justifies some statements.
 
Well historically most countries and kingdoms have had groups of people armed at Mass.
 
Yes they have, however its the 21st Century, we are in the west, we should know better or have a better construct for society. We are no longer the unwashed barbarian hordes.
Unfortunately, the 20th century was the most violent and one many of us grew up in , or became heavily influenced by, as the young adults of the 21st century.
Where are we going wrong is a question we must ask.
