Syria used Chemical weapons?

The legitimate government of Syria denies this baseless Western propaganda. Thank God that Russia has prevented the total destruction of Syria by the West.

In fact, there is more evidence that the “Syria rebels” (who are neither Syrian nor rebels) used homemade (or possibly Western supplied) chemical weapons on the legitimate Syrian army.

The West will someday have to answer for the crimes we have committed against the Syrian people.

I think Paul Craig Roberts recent article “If you want to go to heaven, you had better get busy overthrowing Syria” sums up this madness succinctly (paulcraigroberts.org/2013/04/21/if-you-want-to-go-to-heaven-you-had-better-get-busy-overthrowing-syria-paul-craig-roberts/):🙂

"…Wait a minute! Our government told us for eleven years that we blew trillions of dollars on wars to protect Americans from al-Qaeda, endangering Social Security, Medicare, the social safety net, the dollar’s exchange value, the credit rating of the US Treasury, and our civil liberties in order to save America from al-Qaeda terrorists. So why is Washington now supporting al-Qaeda’s overthrow of the secular, non-Islamist government in Syria which has never ever done anything whatsoever to Americans!?

…At a lunch meeting hosted by Washington’s puppet, British Foreign Secretary William Hague, and US Secretary of State John Kerry, “the Syrian opposition,” aka al-Qaeda, requested antiaircraft and antitank weapons. A senior Washington official said: “Our assistance has been on an upward trajectory, and the president (Obama) has directed his national security team to identify additional measures so that we can increase assistance.”

US Secretary of State John Kerry announced a $123 million “defense aid package” to “the Syrian opposition” that now includes al-Qaeda. Washington had already sent $117 million in “food and medical supplies” to “the Syrian opposition,” and ordered its Middle Eastern puppets to send arms. Note the Orwellian language: support for an outside terrorist force seeking to destroy a government and a people is called a “defense aid package.”

On April 11 the establishment French newspaper, Le Monde, reported that the al-Nosra organization affiliated with al-Qaeda is the dominant force in “the Syrian opposition,” not democratic revolutionaries. Despite this fact, Washington’s puppets, France and Britain, are pushing the European Union to send arms to the al-Qaeda affiliated “Syrian opposition.” And Senator John McCain wants US airstrikes on Syrian government forces with whom the US is not at war, in order to provide air cover for al-Qaeda’s takeover of Syria.

Meanwhile, the Islamist Shiites, whom the Americans left in control of Iraq, have announced that they have joined the battle against the American-supported al-Qaeda forces seeking to radicalize Syria.

So far at last count, the UN reports that the military attack on Syria organized by Washington’s proxies has killed 70,000 people. But americans are preoccupied with the Boson Marathon bombing, which killed 3…"

The article makes some very good points. Our Middle East policy is, and has been, a self-defeating disaster. Given my druthers, I would withdraw all aid to everyone, let them slug it out, and make diplomatic overtures when the dust had settled. US troops would be used only to protect things that are absolutely vital to US interest, not in nation building.
Those trillions that have been squandered over the last two decade could have worked wonders right here.
Isolationist? Maybe a bit. I like to think of it as promoting self-interest.

Syria: Al-Qaeda’s battle for control of Assad’s chemical weapons plant
A battle near a factory believed to be one of the Syrian regime’s main chemical weapons plants shows just how close such weapons could be to falling into al-Qaeda’s hands, writes Colin Freeman.
If this is a concern for Israel, they should deal with it.

We have caused big problems and destabilized areas of the world by supporting the likes of the Muslim Brotherhood. We can’t support Terrorists again. Al Qaeda is not our friend, we let Bin Laden go once and thousands were killed.

I say show us the evidence so we are not faced with another war to find weapons of mass destruction. Call me a cynic but the military and industrial complex, the oil industry, the members of the grove and illuminati, and bankers seem eager for another resource war because it is so profitable and it costs them nothing as the cost is payed for by tax payers. the ultimate price will be paid for with the lives of soldiers and the civilians. Consider the hundreds of thousands killed in Irag and they are worse off than before.

Syria isn’t a threat like Iraq, Sadam waged the bloodiest war since World War II in the Iraq/Iran war, over a million people died. There is no genocide in Syria as the USA sat by and did nothing in Rwanda. We fought Al Qaeda who were all over in Iraq so we can’t just go across the border and then help Al Qaeda.

Iraq was never a serious threat to our national security and GWB and every politician who supported the invasion of Iraq have the blood of 66,000+ innocent civilians on thier hands and 4,500 US troops. Both JP2 and B16 denounced this war and B16 has denounced even arming rebel groups in Syria calling it a gravely sinful.

The same rotten philosophy of our ruling elites that sent us into Iraq is alive and well and urging us into Syria and sent bombs into Libya. It’s sad by how many Catholics listen to their political parties rather than the church on matters of war and economics.

So with Rwanda, you say 700,000 people killed? So what? Maybe you should look at your own hands instead of self-righteously judging others. By the way, the anti-war people say our embargoes were already killing thousands in Iraq before any involvement. You can manipulate figures in any way.

So you see it the same way with the current administration supporting drone strikes that have reportedly killed innocents? As well as find trouble with fast and furious guns that have killed innocents in Mexico? You say that Obama has blood on his hands?? Do you say this same thing about the Democrat Party supporting Planned Parenthood who in turn support infanticide?

Weapons of Mass Destruction were found in Iraq:
BAGHDAD, IRAQ – United Nations weapons inspectors have confirmed the announcement on Monday by the Iraqi government that its soldiers had finally discovered Saddam Hussein’s weapons of mass destruction program, completely upending the history of the Iraq War, once viewed as a pointless quagmire but now seen as a tough but necessary conflict.
**The New York Times became the latest news outlet to completely reverse itself on the invasion of Iraq, with an editorial now referring to it as “the greatest decision of the century.”

The elitist liberal media plays this down, the Left is both uninformed and fierce.

I. It’s sad by how many Catholics listen to their political parties rather than the church on matters of war and economics.
These Catholics don’t give a toss for the Gospel values taught by Jesus .

For them Mammon , country , party politics and political ideology will always have precedence over God .

I must need glasses, I don’t see one word here about life. Hey, but some people comfortably dismiss this while they cast stones at others! Oooops, that was something Jesus said.

👍

Yeah, sure. Abortions mills have been closed left and right, maybe you don’t give a “toss”, add that Englishcization in here meaning this is probably a Britanizzation. If so, I don’t see how you can be judging others. Spare us. “Mammon”?? Wow, just wow.

These Catholics …

But WikiLeaks’ newly-released Iraq war documents reveal that for years afterward, U.S. troops continued to find chemical weapons labs, encounter insurgent specialists in toxins and uncover weapons of mass destruction.
An initial glance at the WikiLeaks war logs doesn’t reveal evidence of some massive WMD program by the Saddam Hussein regime — the Bush administration’s most (in)famous rationale for invading Iraq. But chemical weapons, especially, did not vanish from the Iraqi battlefield. Remnants of Saddam’s toxic arsenal, largely destroyed after the Gulf War, remained. Jihadists, insurgents and foreign (possibly Iranian) agitators turned to these stockpiles during the Iraq conflict — and may have brewed up their own deadly agents.
In August 2004, for instance, American forces surreptitiously purchased what they believed to be containers of liquid sulfur mustard, a toxic “blister agent” used as a chemical weapon since World War I. The troops tested the liquid, and “reported two positive results for blister.” The chemical was then “triple-sealed and transported to a secure site” outside their base.
Three months later, in northern Iraq, U.S. scouts went to
look in on a “chemical weapons” complex. “One of the bunkers has been tampered with,” they write. “The integrity of the seal [around the complex] appears intact, but it seems someone is interesting in trying to get into the bunkers.”

If it’s satire, they are certainly quoting from real sources.

Tin Pot dictator like whom? That is only meant to trivialise.

What other dictator since World War II has presided over a war that killed more than a million people and who used chemical weapons against his own country? And there in Iraq, AQ was all over. I see one of the first comments reads it would be funny if it were not true.
There were weapons of mass destruction in Iraq after all.
The massive cache of almost 400,000 Iraq war documents released by the WikiLeaks Web site revealed that small amounts of chemical weapons were found in Iraq and continued to surface for years after the 2003 US invasion, Wired magazine reported.
The documents showed that US troops continued to find chemical weapons and labs for years after the invasion, including remnants of Saddam Hussein’s chemical weapons arsenal – most of which had been destroyed following the Gulf War.

We also know they have satellite photos of trucks moving things to Syria before the Invasion happened.

Tin Pot dictator? Who invaded a foreign country? Other than China going after a few of it’s neighbours, there has not been much of that in recent years.

I’m not for the military intervention in Iraq nor was I but I don’t think it was as scurrilous as some would lead us to believe. Terrorists were all over Iraq and still are but a lot fewer of them. Perhaps in the long run, it did help in the war against Terrorism.

It is pretty well established that claims of Saddam Hussein’s collaboration with Al Qaeda were greatly exaggerated and mostly made up out of whole cloth.

Vietnam??

Civilian deaths in Vietnam war
195,000-430,000 South Vietnamese civilians died in the war.[5][6] 50,000-65,000 North Vietnamese civilians died in the war.[5][7] It was difficult to distinguish between civilians and military personnel on the Viet Cong side since

Sudan Darfour:
Sudanese authorities claim a death toll of roughly 10,000 civilians.[151]
In September 2004, the World Health Organization estimated that there had been 50,000 deaths in Darfur since the beginning of the conflict, an 18-month period, mostly due to starvation. An updated estimate the following month put the number of deaths for the 6-month period from March to October 2004 due to starvation and disease at 70,000; These figures were criticized, because they only considered short periods and did not include deaths from violence.[152] A more recent British Parliamentary Report has estimated that over 300,000 people have died,[153] and others have estimated even more.

There is no reason to web search for more, your figures appear very false. And that is putting it mildly, they seem to have no back up at all and appear concocted.

The major point I’m trying to make is that both major political parties need to be brought into better conformity with Catholic doctrine and it’s our job as Catholics to stay loyal to our Holy Father and the bishops over us rather than the GOP or the Democrat party.

I sometimes see more allegiance to the GOP on these forums and among conservative Catholics as a whole than to our bishops and our Holy Father. Specifically, the GOP has fallen gravely short of Catholic social doctrine and just war theory. Obviously the Democrats have adopted the culture of death as one of its platforms and this is rehensible.

BINGO!

With regard to Syria, during the debates, I remember Romney actually calling for MORE intervention than Obama. What a disgrace.

Everyone of our political “leaders” that has called for supporting the “Syrian Rebels” should be detained under the provisions of the NDAA.
