You almost certainly do, you just don’t know it.NOPE!

They should replace MMA bouts with prayer battles. I would pay to watch that any day!Thank you, dear friend, I am much in need of boggling.
I thought the same thing. To which I responded, “never buying a kindle.”
Or, “There are a lot of very confused people in the world. They do things that are stupid and wrong - not because they are bad people, but they just don’t know any better - and apparently it’s illegal to teach them anything.”Explain it, that some men love men, and some women love women, and your kid will accept that true fact. I don’t know how you’ve not explained this yet. Don’t you have any gay friends or family members?
I have to say this is true. Even in the Middle Ages, at the peak of the Church, the romantic idea of knights pledging themselves to a (married) Lady sometimes bordered on the adulterous. If this was the late 1800s, your kids would have been exposed to minstrel shows. If it was the 1940s, the secular world would teach your kids that Japanese Americans should be placed in internment camps. If it was the 1950s, popular media would teach your kids that segregation is a proud tradition and that all homosexuals are secretly pedophiles and communists who deserve scorn and the federal govt to track their every move.
Just because the pendulum has swung too far in the other direction, don’t fall into the trap of romanticizing the past. Popular culture has never embodied the teachings of Christ.
I have to take issue with what seems to be equating “innocence” with being lied to and kept in the dark about something natural, biological, normal, and constituting basic knowledge of how the world functions. Thanks pal!!
I just would like to keep his innocence until at least 5 grade. My boy still plays with Lego’s and loves batman. Just because society says my kids should know about sexuality when they are in first grade doesn’t mean it is okay.
… When I was in school we did not learn sex-ed until junior high. Then the Nun told us we could get pregnant if we kissed a boy. LOL

Got what you mean. I just told him that God does not allow men to marry men. That it is just trying to be funny. He said okay and went back to building his Lego tower… LOL
You make it seem like this situation is all-pervasive throughout society. The truth is that only about 2% of the population identifies as gay.I don’t know how you’ve not explained this yet. Don’t you have any gay friends or family members?
Just want to add my thoughts to this… I learned about the basic mechanics of sex when I was four, with the rest of human anatomy. The mistakes I have made in that area came from a lack of knowledge, not from learning things too early. I don’t think a kid will stop being “innocent” if he learns about sex, and I certainly don’t think it will be very easy to keep him from learning about sex until 5th grade. Thanks pal!!

I am so happy my kids go to Catholic School. I don’t have to worry about it being pushed as “Okay”.
When the boys turn 9 they go with their daddy’s and start learning the basics about, the facts of life from a Catholic family institute scholar to teach magisterial facts of life to the kids… I thank God the Church takes this stuff seriously. When I was in school we did not learn sex-ed until junior high. Then the Nun told us we could get pregnant if we kissed a boy. LOL
That means that if you know 50 people, at least one of them is likely to be gay. Most people know quite a lot more than 50 people. My husband has more than that counting one side of his family. You make it seem like this situation is all-pervasive throughout society. I detest many things that are on television. For instance, coming up to Christmas the ad slot on children’s tv channels is longer, and they are bombarded with all these ‘must have’ things that truth told, they don’t even really want. My husband and I were at home one morning enjoying a day off work and we thought we would watch a good show on tv. What did we find? Jerry Springer, Trisha etc. etc. and a chat show were a panel of ‘experts’ presented their views on whether or not women should ‘fake’ orgasms. We ended up watching ‘The Clangers’ as it was the most intelligent thing on.Hello-
My family and I were watching the Brady Bunch on the Hallmark channel. Then this commercial comes on:

My son who is 7 want to know how come the guy is married to another man!!
THANKS!!

My Brother’s daughters go to Catholic school, and they’re a lot less well behaved than my Sister’s kids who go to ‘secular’ school. My S-I-L claims to be Catholic but never sets foot in church and they don’t get any sort of Catholic teaching at home.Even if you send your little darling to the Pope’s own elementary school, your kids need to hear it from you! And see it from you! Lived out every day, discussed frequently, and celebrated! Sexual sin is so invasive and one can not buy their way out of this!
I remember growing up in the 90’s, ‘gay’ men on tv were presented as a sort of ‘comic relief’. Cross dressers like ‘Dame Edna Everidge’ (a guy who always appeared ‘in character’ as a woman) and people like Graham Norton (hilariously camp) weren’t really to be taken seriously. Then the millennium came, and suddenly they were presented as ‘normal’.I don’t remember when I learned about gay people. I know it was long before fifth grade. Everyone told me it was evil, so I never thought anything different. I don’t think knowing a thing exists makes someone more likely to accept it as good or acceptable..
That discrepancy can be caused by any number of factors and probably has little to do with the school. The point is, one can’t rely solely on a school to moralize their kid. It doesn’t matter if the teacher tells them homosexuality is sinful ten time a day, if mom and dad never say anything about it, they’re going to think it isn’t a big deal. Then they go out into the world and they think they are very alone and are likely to abandon their beliefs. My Brother’s daughters go to Catholic school, and they’re a lot less well behaved than my Sister’s kids who go to ‘secular’ school. That is funny. It’s like, apparently it’s OK to see nipples now. NIPPLES!Something that cracks me up about UK tv is that some shows like A Touch Of Frost, Midsomer Murders etc are edited when repeated in the afternoons for violence, but the soap operas on between 7 & 9pm can show people “in bed”. Heck, I’ve seen Midsomer Murders show nudity before 3’oclock in the afternoon!
Preach it brother! Why can’t we go back to the good ol’ fashion days of mocking and ridiculing them mercilessly? What happened to our values? Really… such a shame.I remember growing up in the 90’s, ‘gay’ men on tv were presented as a sort of ‘comic relief’. Not only that, it’s extremely irresponsible. A child who is “innocent” (read: ignorant) is far more likely to be a target of sexual abuse, not understand exactly why it is wrong, and struggle to communicate their concerns before the abuse occurs, and to report it afterwards.I think it will be exceedingly difficult to keep your child from knowing about intercourse, reproduction and sexuality until the 5th grade. But, best of luck trying.
