Who’s number 1 in the poll??

NEWT GINGRICH THAT’S WHO!!!

NEWT ALL THE WAY

[time sensitive statement :rolleyes:]

Newt=-] 18 votes/-]20
Cain= 17 votes
Paul= 16 votes
Romney= 15 votes
I just voted. 👍
It’s time to talk about Gingrich in the political threads now baby!!! WOOT :egyptian::dancing:
:amen:

So, you don’t believe that Paul had a sincere conversion of heart on the road to Damascus either, then? Apparently, once a vile sinner, always a vile sinner with no chance of redemption.
I don’t think that the life of Mr. Gingrich is comparable to the life of St. Paul. Yes, he did convert, and that is good. However, what about the pain and agony which children have to endure when their father abandons their mother when it is suspected that she has cancer? How is that washed away? And although a mortal sin may be forgiven, their is still the possibility of purgatory for the remains of the sin. And so between a Morman man who is faithful to his wife and family and the Baptist turned Catholic one who marries three times and abandons his family when his wife was in the hospital, I would say that the Mormon candidate has a greater commitment to family values in this regard than the Catholic candidate Gingrich.
And by the way, how is marrying three times keeping with spirit of the Biblical command: “What God has joined together, let no man put asunder.”

Very, very possible. Tell you what the South is going to be very interesting.

Not to mention the pain and agony Stephen suffered being stoned.

Apparently his prior marriages were invalid, otherwise he would not have been able to get married to his present wife in the Catholic Church.

It’s really surprising and disappointing to see Gingrich lead in the CAF poll. I’m sure that the only reason for this is that Newt is a convert to Catholicism, so all is forgiven.
Code:
Okay. God can forgive Newt. But I still recall his financial scandal, and then his two divorces, committing adultery during these times. Etc,

 My own view is that Newt is a smart and sly politician of very questionable ethics. He knows that many Catholics are Democrats, that many of them would 'grant' him absolution because of his conversion, and that many would switch parties if he got the nomination. That was his only possible path to the White House. So, he converted, urged on by his third wife. Now he does his best to exploit religion by focusing on America's Christian roots, etc.

  I don't trust him, frankly, and would NEVER vote for him. What an outrageous example he would set before our country and the world. I would feel humiliated to have his as our president. I recall with sadness what a notorious womanizer our Catholic president was, something many devout Catholics are ready to overlook. I don't understand why they are willing to do that. Mussolini and Hitler were baptized Catholics, also. Does that justify the evil they inflicted upon the world? Of course not!

 We must evaluate candidates by their integrity, ability and governing skills rather than by their religious label.

How would this have ever come up if his wife had not been suspected of having cancer? Are all Baptist marriages invalid or not? What Baptist marriage can’t be annulled? This easy annulment process seems like a legal Pharasaical loophole to get around the spirit of commandment of Our Lord: What God has joined together, let no man put asunder.

Yes. That is exactly right. And further it is odd that some people do not recognise that the two Mormon candidates are men of good moral character who are living examples of family values.

Well, you call yourself Catholic. Start a thread on how the Church determines marriages valid or invalid.

I recognize that Romney and Huntsman are men of good moral character. I don’t think anybody here said they weren’t living examples of family values.

I recognize that the two Mormon candidates are of good moral character and appear to be living examples of family values. I just happen to think Newt Gingrich would make a better President than them

I liked Newt before he was Catholic!

Well you’re wrong.

I have felt for several years that Newt Gingrich was the most qualified person in the country to be President of the United States. I just didn’t think he had a chance of ever getting the nomination. I’m now getting cautiously optimistic that he might very well get the nomination and watching him deabte Obama would be absolutely fantastic!

On the one hand, we have two Mormon candidates who by all appearances are good examples of men who are loyal to their families. On the other hand, we have a Catholic candidate who has been married three times, has been living with a mistress while he was married, and who has abandoned his first wife when it was suspected that she had cancer. Further he has been cited for ethics violations. I don’t see this as a particularly good example for people to follow, do you? As far as this marriage annulment business is concerned, if his wife was not suspected of having cancer and he did not divorce her and remarry, this question of invalidity never would have come up. Can anyone please tell me how marrying three times and having a mistress while you are married is in the spirit of the Commandment of Our Divine Lord: What God has joined together, let no man put asunder?
