I have to admit that Last Exile and Love Hina are my two favorite anime of all time.
I liked “Last Exile” until the ending. That, and Lavie, whom looks like an adolescent, is seen a potiential love interest for the grown men of the crew…

I just watched part of an episode of Bleach. Considering some of the sexual jokes the show has I don’t understand why you guys like it so much.
I find that sexual humor in anime actually involves poking fun at people’s pervetedness. Heck the funniest kind of such humor poke fun at the excessive use of fan service. 😛

Take for example they typical scenario of a pervert being caught peeping and then launched sky-high via atomic punch. coughKeitaro Urashimacough

Oh, i see, mainstream ones can be confusing with all the parallel universes, reboots etc… if you aren’t familiar with the differences a casual fan might not know what to pick up.
Yeah that’s sort of what I meant. Well at least I’ve met another comics fan who admits this. Some of the more defensive ones though don’t seem happy to face that fact that their fiction’s cosmology has had one parallel universe too many.

Geez at least I admit that manga/anime storylines, while straight and more consistent, tend to derive from formulaic plots.

I can care about the Ichigo character. Only the women , except for Ichigo’s dad and Kon, seem to be risque. Ichigo tells that cat woman to cut it out, when she appears naked or talks libertine. Where did she go in later episodes, anyway? The male Soul Reapers don’t seem to get lusty. Only one Arrancar acts like that one female Soul Reaper with the cleavage showing. Maybe I’m just spiritually dull these days, though.

It’s also important to note that pretty much every sexual joke or what-have-you is clearly shown in a negative light in the anime Bleach. Significantly, neither Rukia nor Inoue are depicted as sex objects, instead taking the heroine and damsel-in-distress roles. As much as fangirls would squee over it, there hasn’t been a single fan service IchigoX_______ pairing. There was that odd Inoue-Matsumoto thing, but that was a fluke.

Also, anime Bleach 271 == epic.

*Bleach *manga is slightly different. Since it’s not broadcast media, Kubo can get away with a little more.

Oh yeah! That episode was great! I was wondering if he were going to go full hollow-ish suit, but I wasn’t sure if he could do that at will. When he did, as Chris Farley might’ve said, “That was…awesome!” That was better than watching Zaraki fight, though he’s funnier in a dark humor way! I know it’s from someone’s imagination, but the look in Ulquiorra’s eyes was priceless! It was weird he, when defeated, tries to reason with Ichigo while he was more like he was when he was practicing on the Vizerds–gone totally ape. Ulquiorra was probably human once, who went Hollow, and got to become an Arrancar, right? What’s his excuse for being barbaric? Where are the other Soul Reapers? They have to get to Earth, sometime.
BTW I was responding to Eagleswings in my last reply. I respect that concern and I could be wrong, but I think lusting isn’t really celebrated on there. Maybe people there get an immoral joy from that humor or the drawing, but I just like the light-hearted humor and the drama. I don’t care for his disrespect of authority figures (with his dad as he is around him and the fact he’s an adolescent, it’s hard not to guess why) and, despite maybe a peek at “Cat Woman”, his character is a chaste one, like all my anime heros.

No, on DA I’ve seen some pairing of Ichigo and Rukia. But of course it’s DA. Even though I don’t like bleach, I can respect Ichigo. His personality is a little like mine. He just wants to do the right thing. Also, that wolf guy Sajin Komamura looked liked an interesting character. I heard he dies though. I’ll admit, some of the fights between Ichigo and his dad were kinda funny.

I still wonder if his dad has a Gi (sp?) guy in him most of the time. When he’s in Soul Reaper clothes, he acts very self-composed. I wonder why he isn’t helping the Soul Reapers in the final battle. His son isn’t there, so he’s not hiding his past. What is his past with the Soul Society? He has to be picking up on what’s happening with his son. I wouldn’t mind a filler piece about his back history. It’s unfortunate it wasn’t a part of the flashback filler that explained how Urihara (sp?), the big guy with the dreads and the Vizerds came to be banished.
I forgot that Ulquiorra was probably a collection of hollows with a dominant personality. I still don’t get how the ones that got eaten by that wildcat arrancar (I forgot his name now) came to be individual arrancar with human likenesses.
I relate to Ichigo’s carrying a heavy load on his shoulders, but I’m not as aggressive.

What’s DA

Kubo has stated that there will be an “Isshin” arc, so watch for his story to emerge sometime after the current one. He IS there, at the final battle.

Komamura’s not dead, so far as anyone knows. He just got the stuffing beat out of him.

So far as Arrancar are concerned, they’re hollows who’ve climbed the food chain. Starting out as higher-level hollows who retained something of an individuality, they consumed enough spirit energy from other hollows to the point where they become distinct (and I forget the class they become…one step short of a vastolorde, /spelling). Aizen then chose a few of them and made them into Arrancar.

Cool! I look forward to it!

Hollows were people once, though, right? I didn’t quite get what Aizen did to make them, except it seemed he used the hogyoku. He somehow evolved them.

I’d also like to see how the kids came to hang out at Urihara’s place and where the little girl got the power to beat up that one arrancar I thought was one of those who asked to be eaten by Grimjow.

I just picked up a manga called “Maximum Ride”. Apperantly it’s based off a novel written by James Patterson. I remember seeing a copy of the novel when I worked at Goodwill. someone named Narae Lee decided to rewrite the novel into a manga series. It really caught my eye but I hate the joke the main character said about Mother Theresa. Also apparently she and her friends try to fight global warming. I’ll try to finish it before I make my final decision. Any thoughts?

Oh, and if you had read the books or the manga, try not to spoil anything. Thanks.

Well folks, in my desperate attempt to get my mind in a mood to finish the fantasy short story (or novella, seeing as how it’s already past 7000 words >_>;; ), I’ve found not one but two fantasy anime.

Tears to Tiara
Koihime Musou

Not that I’m recommending either to anyone here but just thought I’d tell everyone what I’m watching. 😛

My fanfic is a little over 11,000 words…and it’s not finished yet! I feel your pain.

If only I didn’t have to compete with all this NOISE!! DX My brothers are either playing music, loud MMORPGs, or watching TV. I can’t focus… ;w;

I don’t know how long mine is yet, but I’m on Chapter 10 and Chapter 9 took forever. And I just started a new one.

If anyone has watched Konjiki no Gasshu Beru, Hikaru no Go, or Harebuta Tokidoki raise your hand, please.

There’s a lot of noise in my parents’ house I had to move back into, thanks to the economy, but it’s from my parents watching TV or my dad carrying his radio around with sports blasting out. That’s why I’m afraid to go back to college. They don’t make people be quiet in libraries anymore and I usually forget something I need if I study elsewhere, anyway.

Is anyone else here like me and will only follow one series for fear of being sucked into otaku perdition and then only pick up another series when the previous ends?

Kinda sucks when the series one currently follows doesn’t end…it just…continues…because someone is making a lot of money that way.

I mix both. It’s actually a good combination btw. While waiting for the next installment of an ongoing series, you can just go find a completed one and take your sweet time reading/watching it. Not only is it decent time managed (as far as anime/manga goes anyway), you can expand your mental library of otaku knowledge. @w@

I watch the ones I like on TV. If there’s catching up to do, I’ll watch all the back episodes on the net for one series at a time. I caught up on Bleach months ago. I’d like to see missed Inuyasha ones. I’ve seen all episodes of other ones I came across, during the good 'ol years of Toonami. I prefer not to start new ones from now on. I can get a bit OCD in seeing all of a new series.
