I like the light, silly humor in shows like Trigun, Kekaishi, DBZ, Bleach, etc. as I liked it in Night Court from characters like Harry and Bull and Cheers’s Woody, Coach and Cliff. We need to laugh at simple, silly humor as well as intellectual humor. I wish EWTN had totally clean and light-hearted funny animated shows or comedians. Tom Wilson might get the closest to that. I don’t know what the Protestants have in that regard, post Gumby and Veggie Tales, but their error is more subtle than anime’s, theologically speaking. If you like Eastern theology, I suppose you could get drawn into anime.

Why compare anime to only pop culture revues like Family Guy, when we’ve had gems like Batman: The Animated Series, Teen Titans, Batman Beyond (the former and this being constructive for teens, minus the Titan gals’ skimpy outfits), and recent Superman and Batman animated movies, to provide some examples of America’s best animated stories. Oban Star Racers was a great story from young French minds.

I understood, when I didn’t see Bleach on the Tuesday after the tsunami. I’m glad he’s continued. It would have to be therapeutic to make funny shows–art therapy. I’m surprised he hasn’t worked that into his stories. I’m sure Miyazaki will. I like his work, but, to digress, he’s had “good witches.” They may have them in their theology, but “white magic” practitioners here, though also meaning well, serve Hell and we had the upper hand in knowing that in the West until recently. Ponyo was the most relevant to their situation, with the innocently-caused man-made disaster. As one said on some show, it could be possible the weight of all the tall tons-heavy buildings might have put unnatural pressure on their tectonic plate. I’m not saying that’s how they can make room for them in the cities, but I’m just wondering if it could happen to us, too. Could we be squeezing Earth and could that cause the weather anomolies?

Oops, I forgot I’m the only one here that watches Bleach! :doh2:😛

BTW Sailor Kenshin, don’t let people like that get to you. There are always going to be those who saw one or two animes and thought the dozens of other ones must be the exact same thing, the people who think there’s just this one show on TV that’s titled “Anime”, and let’s not leave out the “all anime is porn” alliance, etc…
LOL… kthx.

But who’s the live person below the Bleach character?

… and I saw ONE segment from Bleach… and a preview…

christian.org.uk/news/disney-movies-could-feature-gay-families-says-animator/ This seemed relevant to an earlier post. I followed a tweet to this site, based on it. This figures. I hope they go out of business.

I forgot to mention that King of the Hill is probably the best of the modern evening cartoons, though not perfect. He shouldn’t let his daughter wear those clothes. He’s still the best dad figure on TV. It’s sad that many urban kids don’t have dads around or they’re violent and we enjoy shows with non-overtly effeminate child-men as father figures on TV. Unfortunately, I don’t think those K of the H shows are made anymore and the trash goes marching on.

times and decide it’s best to wait til later to rescue Benny.

I not gonna play the game anymore, but since you brought it back up long after I stopped playing, if I successfully rescue Benny after all he did what happen’s to him?
I don’t know. I killed him.

I have my doubts. This is coming from one source who would personally like to see it happen.

The issue is still too volatile. After the “Princess and the Frog” PC debacle I doubt they’d want to touch something hot for a while…

The only way it would happen is if the idea was sellable as a “family movie” and not whether the story was actually good enough. OR release it under the Miramax or Touchstone labels.

Ok, I played Assassins Creed: Brotherhood. I stopped when they showed a sex scene a little after the beginning of the game. I didn’t like it. I wanted to play a video game, not watch a porno. Assassins Creed is not a good game.

Whatever label Disney releases something under, it’s still Disney. With The Santa Claus, they made divorce and remarriage OK and something for the kid to deal with and hopefully accept. Disney was a Mason, I think. Maybe he just couldn’t go there at that time. Maybe a duo like those who chased the Dalmations will kiss in a sequel. I don’t know. It’s all nudging.

That is not the only thing, IMO that games is just blasphemous, there is some specially bad scene in the ending.

Blessings !!!

Thank you NewsTheObvious. That was really helpful… Seriously is there anyone who has played the game or not? Would you reccomend this game to a Catholic?
 Touchy! I was only kidding around but I was also making a point.

Use the search function friend, we’ve discussed this specific game to death here!

Recently on my mind!

I love anime. The only way I can get anime though is to download it.

Either because:
  1. The dvd’s are not available in my country
  2. dvd’s are dubbed
  3. there are no dvd’s only fansubs
So I just feel not guilty about downloading anime. I’ve been confessing it; but I keep on downloading. Not sure what to do or think anymore.

I can understand that.

Having TRIED to buy licensed versions of Pokemon and Prince of Tennis and Deltora Questo and Yu-Gi-Oh and Space Pirate Mito—I would either resort to HK dubs or viewing online. Those I view online I don’t keep, just look at once.

I would happily pay for licensed versions IF they were in Japanese AND had the original Japanese music, which I love. I won’t buy an English-only version of anything.

I’ve bought entire licensed series if they have language and music, like Inu Yasha and Yuu Yuu Hakusho.

Iz wut iz. 😉

Crunchyroll offfers ligitamate, legal streaming hi-def anime. Some just a day after it was shown in Japan.

crunchyroll.com/freetrial/?from=aff_redirect&aff=af-31937-azsb

Try a free membership and see what you think. For me, so far so good!
This is not the first time I’ve heard of crunchyroll.

Interesting blogspot. I like how you use the Japanese names. Wish you’d add some quotes from the subbed versions, though! 😃

Or even the music CDs: 'Those who never know a sleepless night cannot become strong; that is the rule."

(Guess who ‘said’ that?)

I think that long-haired blond character of the Vizerds looks a bit like that Jackie Rogers Jr. character Martin Short made up.

about Disney…It’s not just an imperfect company, anymore. it’s promoting vice on purpose.

Miyazaki gets a little too close to Western occult with Western-looking witch characters in some of his shows. Outside of that, anime, in general, and it’s too far removed from occult here. Its heros may not be totally virtuous, so those who are concerned about that may ought to be only the ones watching those shows, if any are, if they’re not dirty. It might matter who you relate to, also. Over time, you might pick up some characteristics of him/her for better or for worse. Some think they are more protected than they are, but one who was into hentai porn could get drawn back in seeing feminine, human or humanoid, characters getting undressed in innocent ways in anime.

Though you may try to watch it, actively, it still has a pacifying effect on the brain, especially with digital filming removing lines between images on film, though that might also cut out subliminal messages between the images, as well. That one who posted links about TV may not be far off. There’s books I’ve seen in traditional and big Catholic bookstores about that.

Also, Families have gotten closer and kids have become closer when the TV was removed, or its watching was severely limited, and more constructive activities replaced it.
