You start banning pirated manga, you’re gonna start banning anything pirated in general which spells bad news to anybody in this sinkhole who depends on such things to write their documents, record their accounts etc. Your line of thinking leads to that whether you like it or not. It is inevitable. Heck, many of my Literature classes depended on a pirated DVD just so we can critique a movie. What happens when manga and comics become a new topic? What then huh? :rolleyes:

Also, bankrupt the provider? LOL! Typical argument of anybody on the anti-piracy bandwagon. The Japanese couldn’t care less what comics they sell abroad. The target market has always been their own population (otherwise, we wouldn’t be struggling not only with language but also trying to relate the non-Christian worldviews of anime/manga to the Western world).

If you wanna condemn somebody, condemn any Japanese indecent enough to pirate their own products not people who do so because they couldn’t get it anywhere else in their own country. :rolleyes:

Can you explain to me how the Ten Commandments are conditional according to each person’s whim?

Can you also explain to me how it is possible to blame anyone other than the thief for said theft?

An idea I had for a manga popped in my head this morning.
The story is set like this:

Man and woman are both descendants of Adam and Eve. When Adam and Eve fell the whole human race suffered because of this. However Adam and Eve were still promised Paradise despite their fall. However since suffering was brought into the world mankind in their own pride decided to cast off their inheritance to Paradise and tried to make their own.

This is where the villian Anubis comes into play. He takes advantage of mankind and enslaves them for his purposes to make his own paradise. He rules the earth with an iron fist and stops at nothing to get what he wants. He scatters mankind and disrupts any chance of them ever realizing they good they were destined to become.

However, things change when Anubis discovers two children. A boy and a girl. These two children are unique. They have not cast off their inheritence of Adam and Eve’s promise of Paradise. Anubis does not see this as a threat but rather an oppritunity to use these children to finally create his own paradise. He feeds, educates and raises these children until they both become adults. Keep in mind though, Anubis does not love these children, he just wants them.

And this is where another character comes into play. A mysterious wolf who is called “The Hound of Heaven” has come to bring back mankind to the inheritence it has been promised. This wolf first starts by searching for the boy and girl (who are now adults) and when the wolf and the two humans meet, the humans feel a great peace like never before. They realize that somehow the two were in a way connected to the promise of Paradise, that Paradise already exists and that no one can ever create their own. However Anubis becomes enraged and disrupts the meeting. He attacks and severly wounds the wolf leaving it for dead and brings the two humans away.

The wolf has no choice but to search for them once more. However the humans have become aware of their parents Adam and Eve and their promise to Paradise and they are determined to find the Hound again. However, since Anubis is unwilling to let them go they have no choice but to wait to be found again. Anubis have every intent to make the two forget that they ever saw the wolf because he fears that if they escape his grasp somehow, mankind will remember who they once were but more than that, Anubis will lose his chance of creating his own paradies. Tensions grow between the Anubis and the man and woman as they are beginning to see the tyrant Anubis is and Anubis will do all he can to get them as far away from the hound as possible.
I plan on drawing Anubis is human form. Although in mythology he is potrayed to have the head of a jackal I wanted him to look fully human. However I will spoil something. Anubis is not human at all, he only resembles one.

I’m trying to think about the wolf a bit more. Is the wolf going to be a male or female I wonder? And what will it’s name be? And what are some of the troubles it will face when searching for the man and woman? And not only that when it does find them again how will it protect them from Anubis’ greed?

The two children like I said are of the few people who did not cast off their birthrights and inheritence of Adam and Eve’s Paradise. They two are not related in any way. In fact when Anubis found them both, that was when the children met each other for the first time. They are also going to be key in bringing back mankind to it’s senses and making them realize that there is hope of salvation, and that there is a way to Paradise but men cannot create their own.

So what do you think?
 
To above: Bible manga/anime could work, I’m sure, but it has the ever present problem of everyone in the audience knowing what happens in the end. It’s like the original production of MacBeth where the descendant of Banquo may very well have been in the audience - everyone knows MacBeth dies, they just want to know how. But therein lies another problem, the Bible via a few countless years of oral tradition fills in a lot of gaps of who, what, when, where, and why. While it would be fantastic for the Jews to hop in their mechas to lay siege to Jericho…no, yeah, that *would *be awesome…the Bible’s account leaves little room for artistic interpretation at time.

In other news, *Bleach *has decided to turn, once again, to utter predictability. As soon as I can convince the staff at the neighborhood methadone clinic that I really do qualify for treatment I’ll no longer feel the need to scurry online every Thursday to find out what is happening in the spiritual world of plotkai.

It’s really sad. They aren’t even trying to hide it anymore. It’s pretty blatant what many moe anime are about. =/

The style is to be applauded though for being more appealing compared to the grimy style of western comics. 😛

“Everyone else is doing it!” and “It’s the fault of the seller!” remain unconvincing arguments for breaking the Eighth Commandment and committing theft.

Surely you can not believe that you can justify the concept of theft or any other sin on a Catholic board without being corrected in all charity.

Don’t you know? Moe anime isn’t really called that because it’s a genre. Moe is a style. 😛
Frankly, I find big eyes and cute round faces pwn realistic ones any day. 🤷

Nope, I consider it a genre, because of the influx of strictly moe anime adaptations more recently. It’s a pathetic in how much fan service they use.

I wasn’t talking about the moe eyes. I was disgusted by the openly sexual perverted pictures. They don’t even try to hide that they are sexually themed anymore.

What you said in your previous post and even in this last post had almost nothing at all to do with what I was referring to. Thanks, anyway. :rolleyes:

Actually, Shugo Chara is one perfect example that one can use a moe art style and not be ecchi or hentai. There’s also Di Gi Charat, Bottle Fairy, and A Little Snow Fairy Sugar.

Moe is a style before a genre. Although, I can’t blame you for being confused because people always have the misconception that saying something is “moe” automatically makes it ecchi.

Thanks for putting words in my mouth and expecting I know noting about anime. :rolleyes:

Yeah, I know about all of the above. I was a japanese translator for anime for a website up to a couple of years ago.

I just don’t like moe and its general content, that’s all. In fact my original post was supposed to be said jokingly. You took me out of context, dramatized it, and blew it way out of proportion.

Umm, exactly how do you find this out of proportion? :ehh:

It’s just that I’ve heard people really considering the following examples as moe. Moe and kawaii (like wapanese words) are pretty much used interchangeably. It’s a word often associated with big eyes and pseudo-lolis (it doesn’t automatically equal ecchi). 🤷
 
Anyways, onto a different topic.

Anybody here know of any Yu-Gi-Oh! GX DVD releases that don’t have the tainted censorship of 4Kids? T_T
 
Do you guys think it would be okay to link the Haruhi speech on moe or no?
