What are you talking about!? I actually agree with you with every one of them! Heck I even loved the soundtrack of the first Yu-Gi-Oh! movie (the one where the Blue-Eyes Shining Dragon, a favorite card of mine, made its debut)

I was merely talking about 4Kids take on the second series (Yu-Gi-Oh! GX). Honestly, the editing and censorship was so badly done, it’s why I’m watching the subbed version of Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D’S.
We AGREE???!!! falls over šŸ˜‰

I’m not sure I’ve ever seen YGO GX. Were the same characters in it? And if not, WHY NOT JUST WRITE A WHOLE OTHER DIFFERENT SERIES?!

Gaaaahhh. It’s like the thousandth reiteration of Star Trek.

My word. Tis a miracle. :rolleyes:šŸ˜›

Hardly, but guess what? It gets worse. While I really liked how Yugi made a cameo appearance on the first episode (complete with the same English voice actor of Yami… I think >_> ), they completely cut out the most epic part of the series: The ending where Jaden (Judai in Jap version) duels Yugi in a special graduation match (SPOILER!!) with just the two of them.
And if not, WHY NOT JUST WRITE A WHOLE OTHER DIFFERENT SERIES?!
Something tells me 5D’s is almost like that. Then again, you always get that effect when you fast forward into the future.

To be honest though… it’s not even as good as GX and that says a lot.

I’m cynical about this. They seem only to have slapped the YGO title on it for a built-in audience, and that does not sit well with me.

I remember thinking, ā€œYGO meets Harry Potter. Kthxbainao!ā€

Not really. As far as I’ve seen:

1.) Jaden is nothing like Harry. šŸ˜›
2.) Unlike Yugi (who pretty much switches between the timid little kid to noble hero bishie), Jaden takes on a more standard shounen archetype: cheerful, confident, optimistic etc.
3.) The school setting is what I actually like about it. I like school life anime (but the later arcs actually tend to focus less on that although it’s still pretty cool).

I just watched the first episode of a show called GetBackers. It was pretty interesting and it was kinda funny. I saw it on animenetwork.

It’s a show where these two guys named Ginji and Ban. What they do is retrieve stolen items. If something was stolen from you these guys would retrieve it. I hardly found any bad content in this show other than some clothing I don’t agree with. But other than that it was ok. I’ll check it out a bit more before I place my final judgement.

Here’s a pic of Ginji and Ban.
(Please Note: This uploaded content is no longer available.)

Here’s a link if ya’ll wanna check it out. It’s kinda funny, but only the first episode is available for free.

What is everyone’s favorite dub(s)? And why?

Mine:
  1. Pokemon (Funny, excellent voice cast, and very true to the original)
  2. Inu Yasha (Ditto)
  3. Yuu Yuu Hakusho (with the exception of Hiei’s American voice actor)
  4. Fullmetal Alchemist (The lone case where I actually prefer the dub!)
  5. Yu-Gi-Oh! (Yes, LW disagrees, but the voice cast was excellent)
  6. Rurouni Kenshin (another good voice cast and true to the original)
Mine would be:
  1. Neon Genesis Evangelion
  2. Oh! My Goddess! OVA
    3, Vision of Escaflowne
  3. Pokemon
I would put in as well Rurouni Kenshin (Sony dub). I’m sure the Filipinos here have seen this version of RK. 😃

This isn’t exactly a spoiler, but this is how one person foresees Bleach ending:

I like Miyuzaki films, the film where this girl pilots this racing craft with 2 gunners and her dad doesn’t approve (I forget the title), Yu Yu Hakushoo, Bleach, Rurouni Kenshin (and its movies), S’CRRY’ED, DBZ, Inuyasha, and Full Metal Panic: Fumoffu (the first 2 discs). I can be very serious and angry about what goes on in government and Church politics, so I need light-hearted humor, but I respect ones that have good drama and Rurouni Kenshin has the best of all of them, I think, but the movie with the girl flying space racers was good too.

ā€œOban Star Racersā€ is the one with the girl racing this armed ship against other aliens where they race. The scene with that racer who’s its own vehicle shedding a tear kind of reminded me of the Holy Spirit. It didn’t try to kill the girl’s mother in a race long ago, but it projects the truth to her after she wrecks once and it sheds a tear, having felt her pain. Some blame God for tragedy in their lives, thinking incorrectly He did something cold-heartedly or did nothing indifferently.

This is a Miyazaki film? What’s its release date?

No. Actually, it’s a French and Japanese collaboration. I believe these French guys made the story up and either did the conventional drawings or the digital FX.

I don’t think I ever understood the ending of SCRYED. Anyone willing to help?

Which version did you see—English or Japanese?

Because I’ve seen both and I’m not sure what it meant either. That the two guys are so evenly matched they just keep fighting forever? What’s the point?

I mostly read manga; Naruto, Rinne, Ranma 1/2. As for anime; voices of a distant star, tora dora, spice and wolf (despite its slight anti-catholic bias), and Eden of the east.
yes, I see subbed anime as soon as it is released from Japan, and I go to Katsukon and Otakon.

currently watching Baka no Test, and waiting for the torrent, I mean, retail version of the dissapearencet of Haruhi.

ā€œwhat a sad Otaku,ā€ I know šŸ˜›

Baka to Test šŸ˜‰ 3 episodes left. I quite enjoyed this anime as it eased the lull of this season’s winter anime schedule. I am also enjoying Durarara! and am looking forward to Ep02 of the excellent Gundam Unicorn OAV this fall. šŸ‘

…going to Katsukon and Otakon. Where’s that?
It’s been a year since I’ve seen S’cry’d. I don’t remember the ending. They like to have red head good guy characters in these anime shows. Maybe it’s a curiosity to them. East Asia seems to admire blond hair and blue eyes, but red heads are the lightest of light skin after Caucasian albinos.
I guess Full Metal Alchemist drama and anime humor (slapstick and banter) is pretty good, The Big O is pretty deep and has action, but is very dry (I don’t care for the goofy-looking robot), Inuyasha has humor and some characters I’d seen in a Japanese ghosts and demons book and this Morobito has that and a kind of Japanese aesthetics and drama, but Kenshin really seems to have that, humor, and classic Japanese aesthetics.

Amongst American-made anime-esque cartoons I’ve enjoyed are all the Batman ones, except this newer one, since the '90s, Teen Titans and Megas XLR (an all-American funny parody of giant robot anime). Unfortunately, these shows can get risque, but I respect those shows, for how I described them above, over the junk made for prime-time nowadays. I’m glad I was a child of the '80s, when cartoons were better for kids and taught virtues we can all believe in. The good guys truly showed love for the bad guys by saving them, though usually the main star characters in anime (at least the good-natured ones) don’t try to kill their enemies, especially Full Metal Panic: Fumoffu and Rurouni Kenshin, where that’s their code.

Oh yeah! I forgot Trigun. I bought a random manga book in Japan, once, and shortly after I returned, that was a show on Cartoon network! It was Trigun. He reminded me of Sledgehammer, that humorous detective (or was he a P.I.?) show on tv in the '80s.

You have good point about FMP: Fumoffu? Sousuke uses rubber bullets and stuff.
But seriously though…

remembers Sagara’s dojo challenge

Mfff…

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! XD falls off his chair
