I know of no one totally virtuous apart from the Blessed Mother and Her Son Our Lord.

The rest of us are just slogging away doing our best.

I would happily pay for licensed versions IF they were in Japanese AND had the original Japanese music, which I love. I won’t buy an English-only version of anything.

I’ve bought entire licensed series if they have language and music, like Inu Yasha and Yuu Yuu Hakusho.
I’ve actually started collecting manga with my savings even though I read 'em online. While reading it on the net is definitely convenient and more available… books don’t need electricity and ISP. 😛

It’s why I’ve realized that it’s best to have both! Nghahaahaha!! XD

I’m not saying there are subliminal messages in anime, but I heard there could be in media that intends to spread a message. However, with no breaks between images in digital filming or computer production, the mind could be more pacified while viewing, message or no message.

This book might have preceded the digital age, but there are other concerns about TV than potential subliminal messages. Sadly, proper warnings against these threats were done away with by those thinking we were too fearful of the devil. Congrats! I guess we don’t fear the Devil, but we don’t fear (awe) God, either–not really. We think we’re all tight with Him, if we’re “good” people. I hope for the solar flares that might shut down electrical grids–hopefully also in China, Russia, Iran, and any other threats to us, as well.

If you like manga, this does not apply.

Are you serious?

There will be world-wide chaos that will harm us, not them. People in hospitals on respirators will DIE.

Do you really wish for that?

Sadly, they probably do. Knowing this persons history of posts, I’m sure they figure whatever people die probably deserve it. .__.

Thiiiiis is why I’m hesitant to visit this site most days.

Very judgmental of you Suni. Maybe I should say it’s typical of you people to criticize people of judging for fun, but judging souls in doing so. People are supposed to be ready to die any moment. What would you say if we had a great cataclysm? Would God like people to die? No. He would probably say people who die had their free will, but it would save millions of souls.

I’m struggling to understand what you mean.

I would really hope you don’t wish for the chaos and the many, many deaths of innocent people in hospitals or elsewhere because you personally want an em pulse to mess up the Iranians.

What we can’t judge is the state of anyone’s soul but we are called to judge actions and words. To do otherwise is to be a floor pillow.

And what does an em pulse have to do with anime on earth?

I wasn’t talking about Japan, the Mississippi River area or Haiti, but a global cataclysm and I’m not saying God would coldly say, “You had your free will,” as if He were thinking “kill a few for the good of many,” but that He would feel better the ones whose souls could be saved, would be.

I still don’t understand in the least. How is wishing for a global cataclysm in any way Christian?

Hehe, trust me when I say I’ve seen a good deal of dark and disturbing anime. There are some of them I actually hate cuz it went overboard (coughsSchool Dayscoughs).

I believe plenty of the recent Gundam series, NGE, Full Metal Alchemist, and Hellsing could be to your liking though. 🙂

As for me, I’m more into the shounen stuff with the occasional dip in to shoujo fluff along with some investigatory trips to the, er, moral underground of the otaku subculture. (The last one never fails to make me want to shoot myself though. >_<;;; Then again, I wouldn’t be able to make fun of stuff like that if it weren’t all so stupid and cliche. It’s the reason why I’m probably one of the few here who like Lucky Star.)

Personally, I prefer action-oriented, serious shows and movies and I tend to avoid slice-of-life, comedies, etc. But as for comedy, I loved episode 1 of Tower of Druaga: Aegis of Uruk:

and the baseball episode of Samurai Champloo (episode 23 I believe).

I imagine they have, though our definitions of ‘witty and hilarious’ clearly differ.

Absolutely LOVE IT!! x3
I’ve watched at least a hundred so far, and I’m open to any more. I prefer anime to the American cartoons nowadays. It seems that there’s so much more emotion and interesting things going on in anime; how could one NOT want to watch? I hate how we get generalized as being nerds every so often. What’s wrong with loving something from someone else’s culture as long as it isn’t bad? As I said, I’ll watch any anime except a complete romance, simply because there’s usually a lot of mushiness that I, for one, cannot stand.

Yes and it always happens that someone walks in on those parts and you end up embarrased about it as they form the opinion that all anime is like that. This has happened so many times with me where its been “Why couldnt they walk in 10 minutes ago when the good guy and bad guy were fighting an epic battle?!”
